Forgive me fasters for I have wobbled today. Had Brie on oatcakes. And a handful of sugary popcorn. And finished off (there were 4 left) the Elizabeth Shaw mint chocolates. And now I feel like I've put everything back on.
I'm hormonal and tired and stressed and tired. Tomorrow's a new day.

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 17/12/2017 21:35

Snorfig I hope the weekend was better for you.
I have been horrendously bad - pasta galore; Lindt chocolate, gin, etc. I'm treating this like my Christmas week and will try to be more restrained when it's actually Christmas to balance it out Grin

Snorfig · 18/12/2017 07:02

Too much wine here, including a complete lapse on Saturday night (inhaling mini food and cava at neighbours' drinks party, then port upon returning home) but managed a low carb fast day yesterday. Feeling determined today. And rather tired. Roll on end of work / school tomorrow 😫

CaptainCorellisBigToe · 18/12/2017 09:41

Would I be absolutely mad to start today? All my Christmas nights out are done and I can easily make Christmas dinner work with the plan (no big get togethers planned with booze etc)
I've read the book and been meaning to start for months but always get sidetracked, my weight is an all time high and I feel every extra pound! I've had a recent breakup so no longer have the distraction of a relationship (going for food/drinks etc) to distract me!

Snorfig · 18/12/2017 09:53

Do iiiiiiiiit! Once the social things are out of the way you can control what you eat much more easily. I'm off to a crappy start today (constant cake in office kitchen) but going to turn the day around NOW.

NotMeNoNo · 18/12/2017 10:12

I started 2 weeks ago and am down 6.5lb already. Ive already had three Christmas events. I am not craving sweet stuff one bit. On Christmas day I will just have the meat and veg parts and teeny bits of everything else.

I thought otherwise it will be January before I get going and I could be halfway through the 8 weeks by then if I start now.

Try it for a week if it's just too hard with parties etc then you have still had a practice and can start seriously after Christmas.

CaptainCorellisBigToe · 18/12/2017 10:55

Thanks for the encouragement, I'm on it!
Had a black coffee and about to take the dog for a walk, Work will be the only issue with sweets around the office etc but I'm only in for a couple of hours and a few fondants at the bottom of a quality street tub wouldn't be my biggest weakness anyway!

It's gotten really ridiculous now, I have 6stone to lose and knowing me that could be 7 by Jan if I don't get started!

Looking forward to seeing food ideas etc, I have the book so I'll have a refresher flick through later!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 18/12/2017 12:21

Hi everyone, welcome newbies!

I totally get the desire to start today, I am feeling in limbo a bit as I know the Christmas week will be busy and carb-filled, but technically this could be a good week- or, conversely, could be a very very bad week if I let it. We have no major plans, a meal out on Saturday, Christmas Eve/day/Boxing Day are probably going to be best written off, but otherwise nothing really. I'm trying to adopt a sort of 'on plan when I can' mentality- so trying to make better choices at home, instead of just automatically saying 'oh well, it's Christmas'. Our scales have broken so I have no idea what I currently weigh, but I reckon recent weeks of illness, snow, more illness plus social events could easily have tipped me up over 12 st again.

The key for me is drinking lots of water, which is the first thing that goes out of the window I find, plus limiting the amount of processed meat and nibbles such as nuts, because even though they're on plan, they get me wanting other, off plan things.

My big relaunch will be after Christmas, but I'm all for trying to get a few good days under my belt before the big feast!

CaptainCorellisBigToe · 18/12/2017 22:23

Sounds like a good plan bear, I hope today went well!

I cannot believe I'm saying it (seriously I've been like a food addict lately) but I just completed DAY ONE with a few calories to spare!

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 19/12/2017 07:41

Well done Captain and NotBe !
bear good point about the water. I definitely haven't been drinking enough.
I've just found a beautiful dress I bought years ago (then packed away because it didn't fit when I was heavier). I'm now trying to pluck up the courage to try it on again...
What's everyone else wearing for Christmas parties , Day, etc?

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 19/12/2017 07:45

Oops, I forgot - thanks for kind wishes bear. Everyone is now home from hospital which is a relief. They both still need further tests but that won't be until after Christmas.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 19/12/2017 17:19

That's good news place

For Christmas 'going out' I have had to buy something new because nothing fits comfortably this year. I went for a white top in a heavy viscose from matalan- it's not clingy at all which I need! I'll probably wear that Christmas Day and possibly New Years too (not sure what our plans are yet for NYE) - we have no other festive activities planned (at least no others that require anything more festive than a reindeer jumper and antlers Xmas Smile)

I've been quite good today. I had a freezer meal for lunch, one I'd prepared and frozen when I was being virtuous, with some red cabbage. I was very grateful to myself for that because otherwise I know I'd have eaten rubbish. This afternoon I have iced the Christmas cake, and made biscuits, so have quality controlled a tiny taste of each, but otherwise nothing too naughty. My heart's not really in it if I'm being ruthlessly honest, but I know the damage I could do if I completely let go of the reins just yet, so I'm hanging on in there. Our delivery from Rude Wines arrived today though, so.......Wine

Well we didn't open the wine last night. I'm out tonight with a non-drinker so it will probably be tomorrow until we crack open a bottle. I'm having a mixed day- baked with the dc so did have a small sample, but then had a bit of free time so decided to get on the treadmill. It's been a while, what with illness and ill dc, and sheer laziness, and I didn't want to, but now I'm glad I did. Haven't actually eaten a proper meal yet, so nothing to report there, although I suspect it won't be anything amazing as the dc are having pizza! I want something really spicy for some reason, but not sure what I'll end up with.

A nice little BSD breakfast to start the day!
Friends and babies coming for lunch so I am going to get some nice cheese, cooked chicken and salad along with the usual cakes/crisps/ carbs- hopefully a reasonable effort. I ache today after my little run yesterday but I'm going to try and do it again today, if for no other reason than it reminds me just how hard it is to burn those calories which are so easy to eat!

How is everyone doing? When do you all break up for Christmas?

I had scrambled egg and bacon for breakfast, was contemplating a little run as I haven't really started exercise apart from steps. But also need to walk dog separately as he is silly if I run! Last day of work tomorrow. Thanks for the encouragement.

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 21/12/2017 14:25

We have stopped for the holidays and are driving down country. I succumbed to a Burger King. It was amazing. I had forgotten how good they are.
We have a very busy few days ahead so I'm hoping that gives me less chance to eat. Grin

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 24/12/2017 12:58

Happy Christmas Eve BSD-ers! I hope you all have a lovely time, that your food is BSD-friendly, that your wine/champagne/gin is carb and calorie-free Xmas Wink and that you have a fantastic time with your loved ones. Wine

Snorfig · 24/12/2017 13:25

I've fallen off the carb wagon so hard I can't even see the wagon! Looking forward to getting back on it on 27th. Not bothered til then.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 24/12/2017 22:07

Thanks all

Merry Christmas all. May your carbs be merry and bright

It’s Boxing Day and I’m starting (again) now. The past month has been a terrifying feast of all the things that make me fat, bloated and bloody miserable. That tiny brief moment of nice tastiness is simply not worth the feeling of lying in bed at the end of the day feeling sick and stuffed. Then waking up and cracking the scales.
No more!
So today started with a short and very slow jog, a few struggled sit ups then some yogurt, berries, almonds and a green tea. I’m already feeling better.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas but feeling ready to get going on here again.

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 26/12/2017 11:59

Well done pitpot ! You sound full of resolve.

I started the day with one dark chocolate from Hotel Chocolat Grin but I held firm against a big breakfast. We're having a lazy day here so tbh from a BSD pov it could go either way.

PenelopeFlintstone · 27/12/2017 09:25

Hi, can I jump in? I'm starting tomorrow. I know NYE is coming up but so is my holiday in 4 weeks and I'm over 15 stone Sad

thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/12/2017 20:10

I have eaten a squillion calories today. I'm definitely up for starting on 1st Jan again and my kids are going sugar free in January too.

Had a Fitbit for Christmas though, and it's brilliant. The sleep tracker is fascinating, and I have done 10,000 steps + each day and haven't even left the house! No wonder I'm a) knackered and b) always wearing out my slippers.

I think In January we should start a new thread so as to be all focused and proper, so let's try and fill this one up before Monday!! There's too much off plan comraderie (mostly from me!) on this one

Until then, WineGinGlitterballXmas Smile

Welcome Penelope ! BSD can make a massive difference in 4 weeks. Remember to take your measurements at the start too because sometimes you don't lose weight but you do lose inches.

bear I'm impressed you manage so many steps when you're at home. I always end up catching up on work sitting on my backside watching Netflix when I'm at home.

Well, I decided to try on the beautiful dress that I had packed away years ago. It was too small. tbf it was a size 8 and although I'm sometimes an 8 on top, I'm definitely not anywhere else.

Yesterday I ended up wearing a dress I bought when I was a size 14/16. It inspired me to dig out photos from 2 years ago when I first bought it and just before I started BSD. I can definitely see the difference.

Sometimes I think we can all be too hard on ourselves. We're all here and trying. Well done us! Star
