9.5 hours sleep. The face of envy > Envy

The weather is truly awful here. Active outside day washed out. The temptation to stay in the house eating things is strong!

In fact it is only the fact my children will bicker and fight if we stay in that is stopping me!

tobee · 09/09/2017 12:52

Me, I love cauli rice! SmileHowever, last night I used it in Indonesian fried rice, incorporating it in the pan like a paella or risotto, and it disappeared a bit, had to keep adding more "grains".

Absolutely love it roasted bear. Really good with sprinkled smoked paprika before cooking.

Fiddlemeonce · 09/09/2017 13:36

Long time lurker. You are all my spirit animals and I check this thread every day for inspiration.

yumyumpoppycat · 09/09/2017 13:48

Welcome fiddleme - maybe have a week off from 800 esp if you have been sticking to it strictly but do the low carb element. Then you can add back in calories counting?

Well done on 2lb spaghetti.

Glad you had a decent night sleep at last Bear!

APlaceOnTheCouch · 09/09/2017 17:57

fiddle have you taken your measurements? Maybe you're losing inches rather than weight?
I've had a hugely busy week and have an important meeting tomorrow which tbh is making me want to stress eat. I'm in a complete flap about it and may have to admit today isn't going to be a successful BSD day for me.

Flightywoman · 09/09/2017 20:15

I'm a bust tonight - around the 1200 mark but I have walked quite a lot so I'm hoping it won't be a total disaster!

Steak and tomatoes, a small piece of cheese, a yogurt which I should have done without, and some greengages from the garden. All delicious, no carbs!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/09/2017 20:23

I've gone over too, although I have had stupidly low carbs, resisted brownie bites at a kids party and have resisted wine as well. I've just had lots of 'on plan' food- up til tea time I was ok, but then I had bolognese and veg, yoghurt and strawberries, and I've just eaten a load of cucumber sticks and hummus (asda's amazing pine nut and pesto topped hummus, you must try it). I feel like I could raid the cupboards tonight, don't know what's got into me! I'm not craving carbs as such, just food in general!

OP posts:
PinkBlossomTree · 09/09/2017 20:48

Fiddle - I agree with PoppyCat have you checked your measurements?
As I've been dieting since May and I had a few weeks STS when I went into 5:2 and lost quite a few inches instead. It's disheartening but remember is 2 inches per dress size so does mount up.

But personally I'd start counting carbs too. Easy on MFP especially if your using it anyway, I'm a annual low carber and done all the shake diets etc each year, last year I followed a low carb shake diet but wasn't too bothered with the calories but kept my carbs very low and was in ketosis fat burning mode and the pounds dropped off quick despite not being super strict on calories and following the VLCD like I had intended.

I have a confession - I fell off the wagon and ate quite a big bag of sweets yesterday and they were 1000 cals. Oops, it's very unlike me as I'm normally 100% unless a planned special event has come up. Was straight back on it today and only a very small gain.

Bin85 · 10/09/2017 07:57

May I join?
W1R1D9
Lost 4 lb but now stalled for 4 days
going to keep going as feel better and sleeping much better.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 10/09/2017 08:53

Morning all, welcome bin85!

I feel manky today- not ill, not hungover, just urgh! Just mustering up the energy to go for a run.

I didn't manage 800 cals yesterday so I'm trying again today. We have roast chicken for dinner so if I have a salad lunch I should be ok.

Anyone got exciting plans? I've got quite a dull day, jobs to do, planning to do for tutoring and I can't be bothered to do any of it!!!

Hi, everyone can I join? Thanks @JigglyTuff for pointing me towards this thread. This has been my first week and I'm finding it a bit tough. Can I ask What book people are following as I think I may have an older one?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 10/09/2017 11:02

Hi 149 my edition is the 2015 edition- I hadn't considered it might be updated although it makes total sense!

Welcome anyway.

Feeling a lot less grouchy now, I have just done a 3k run, my longest yet. Considering 2 weeks ago I barely moved, I am very pleased with myself!

OP posts:
Flightywoman · 10/09/2017 11:16

We are going out for lunch to our favourite burger place. I am planning mine with no bun and might swap the chips for salad, or else have a few chips and pass the rest to the husband...

Or I could have something else with salad instead of chips.

Essentially it needs to be no bun no chips!

Fiddlemeonce · 10/09/2017 13:15

yumyum - Taking a break has been on my mind, too. It's hard to believe (especially to me!!), but I haven't had a single cheat day the entire nine weeks!

couch - I've been checking waist and hips, both of which have stayed the same. Funny enough, week eight I was sure I was losing as my clothes felt like they were practically hanging off me, but measurements were the same??

Pink - (Grudgingly) agree about the carbs! Will start today. I think I'm in for a bit of a shock...

Welcome Bin and user149!

user149 - first week for me was awful. I was literally climbing the walls. But it gets SO much easier. I've done every diet under the sun but this is the only one I've never cheated on.

STS (of course). I weigh myself everyday, but to be honest, it's driving me bonkers with no changes for so long. Might take a break until official weigh in day (Friday).

Stay strong everyone!

Flightywoman · 10/09/2017 17:51

I had ribs! Not 'diet' food by any stretch of the imagination, but I didn't eat the chips. I did have some onion rings though! Still, I won't be eating supper, I feel like a snake that's swallowed a small mammal.

Oblomov17 · 10/09/2017 18:04

Hello everyone. We have been away in Dorset for the weekend packing away our caravan for the winter.
I did eat 2 chicken kebabs, only the meat. But I also ate a slice of coffee and walnut cake.

Oh well. I'll try and get back in it.
Well newbies and scandi.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 10/09/2017 18:24

Good damage limitation flighty!
Welcome home oblo!

I'm finishing the day on about 950 cals and 35g carbs, it would have been way under except i was starving and stripped loads of delicious crispy skin off the chicken! Dh and the boys had yorkshires and roasties- I actually put them into my plate but when I thought about it I didn't really want them so i left them. They also had pancakes for pud; I kept enough batter for one for me but I think now I've worked out my calories for the day I'll leave it.

Feeling positive about the week ahead- going food shopping tomorrow and I have planned my meals (evenings) although a bit at a loss for lunches. I'll make a batch of soup to do two days and I have ratatouille frozen for another 2. I know I'll do better when my lunch isn't an afterthought.

Hope you've all had a good weekend

Good and bad today. I went to the gym the morning and worked really hard.

Unfortunately lunch was sabotaged by a new play place I took the DCs to where there was nothing on the menu on plan. I was sooooo hungry after 16 hour fast and gym so I had a jacket potato and beans. That seemed better than the sandwich options.

Ended up on 975 and massively over on carbs.

Oh dear.

Hugomcwooferton · 11/09/2017 01:23

I'm joining today.

Had the news that I have Pre- diabetes at 26 and have 8 stone to lose. I won't let this define my life and I want to make a massive change in my life. Can someone explain the concept?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 11/09/2017 07:03

Hi Hugo, welcome! I saw your other thread, glad you've come to join us!

You need this book:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B016USSX5O/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1

Read the opening posts of this thread and thread 7. The diet itself is a low carb high fat plan- you can eat meats, cheese, nuts, full fat dairy, most veg (no potato, and limit other sweet veg or veg that grows underground), and try and avoid rice, pasta, grains such as wheat and cous cous etc and sugar. To really rapidly reverse T2 and Pre-diabetes, you can stick to a calorie count of 800 a day. Not all of us do this, and certainly not every day, so there's no pressure to reduce your calories rapidly straight away. You could download a tracking app such as MFP (I use the delightfully named 'fat secret' !)

I really felt for you reading your post. Please use this board to ask any questions and just to chat- there's quite a big community of us on here, some have been here for ages, some are new, but we all understand where you are because we've been there, or similar.

Good luck Flowers

Oh and should have said to reduce fruit consumption- apples, berries, pears are ok in small amounts, but no tropical fruits or bananas etc .

OP posts:
thenewaveragebear1983 · 11/09/2017 08:18

Me again!
To all you exercisers- is it normal to retain some water when you start exercising? I'm 2lb up today!!!! Not fair!!! I've been so good, and did my running, so wondering if perhaps it was water retention? Either that or it's my body punishing me for giving up wine!!

Booooooo!

Flightywoman · 11/09/2017 10:46

Welcome Hugo. I'm aiming for a 7 stone loss so don't worry that 8st is unachievable!

HerRoyalFattyness · 11/09/2017 11:06

Time to get back on the wagon. My weight has gone up from where I was. So need to lose it again.
