bear apparently you can put on water weight when you start exercising. So hopefully your 2lb will disappear again.

yumyumpoppycat · 11/09/2017 15:08

Yes it is normal Bear {shakes fist at the injustice} like aplace said your body holds water weight as part of inflammation and also healing muscles tears. So I guess it is a sign your workout was effective.

Welcome Hugo.

Spaghetti under 1000 always counts as a win. Can't always be perfect currently I am never perfect but still

Fiddlemeonce · 11/09/2017 15:30

bear - I try not to start a diet/exercise plan at the same time because I always put on 4-5 lbs when I start working out! So frustrating but it's all about that long term investment.

Hugo - One of my personal heroes is a friend who lost 14 stone over two years. She was very similar age and diagnosis to you. She's been maintaining for 4+ years within a stone of her goal weight. Super doable. :)

thenewaveragebear1983 · 11/09/2017 17:02

That's rubbish! I've been drinking loads today to try and flush it out (literally!) So hopefully it won't stay for ever.

Closing the kitchen on 1000 cals and 40 carbs (although 10 fibre, which is a lot for me!). I've had a lot of veg today.
It's very early to be closing the kitchen but it's my tutoring night tonight so I'm getting ready to leave for that. One thing I did do Today was measure my milk in my coffees- I managed 3 dashes of milk from my 100ml, which is less than I normally allow so I think I've been guestimating a bit too generously recently.

Flightywoman · 11/09/2017 19:35

After yesterday's blow out I'm closing on 759 today!

I'll add a few more before bed in cups of tea but it'll be under the 800.

Reining it in!!

Oblomov17 · 11/09/2017 20:58

Youghurt and blueberries
Courgetti
Cauliflower curry

APlaceOnTheCouch · 11/09/2017 21:54

I was over yesterday and today. I'm tired and busy - never a good combination for me.
Well done everyone closing the kitchen on target Flowers and Star for you all!

Hugomcwooferton · 11/09/2017 22:20

Good Lord, the cravings are something else tonight!!!
875calories today.
Had 2 protein shakes, at 25g protein each 8.4g carbs,
Scrambled eggs
2 mini apples
And a chicken enchilada minus the tortilla :)
I'm so hungry! Might just go to bed!

Hugomcwooferton · 11/09/2017 22:21

Forgot- 2 hard boiled eggs and spinach as a snack

JigglyTuff · 12/09/2017 11:03

Hello all

After a truly dreadful weekend where I went to a 40th birthday party and ate bread, crisps and cake and drank my body weight in prosecco, I'm back fully on the wagon today. I've dusted off my MFP because if I don't log, I don't stick to 800 cals.

I am trying to eat less meat and more quorn this week as it is so low in calories compared to meat.

I'm really impressed at your running Bear. You've inspired me into digging out my jogging bra and seeing if I can do it up Grin

Flightywoman · 12/09/2017 17:21

I'm on 390 so far and have NO IDEA what to have for supper. I'm cooking just for me as it's Brownies and football for daughter and husband.

It needs to include kale.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 12/09/2017 18:06

We had the chicken and red pepper curry from the BSD website tonight. It's nice vut I'm still peckish.

That looks good Place, I'm sure I've heard people say how nice that recipe is.

I'm finishing on 840 today, 40g carbs (8 fibre). I've just had a good BSD day- not obsessing, not hungry, just ate my food and that was it. It's a pleasant calm feeling around food, once the detox phase is over and it's just 'food' again.

Going to visit a friend and her new baby tomorrow so will likely end up having lunch out, so that might be tricky, although for the last few days I've had hot food at lunch and it seems to have helped me keep on track for the afternoon.

Scales hadn't budged this morning though. Perhaps I am building loads of muscle and i shall emerge all ripped and muscular like a body builder! Surely you don't build much muscle tone in a week of quite short distance running????

Oh, and day two of my milk experiment proved that I have definitely been underestimating my milk. I used my 100ml in 2 cups today, and felt they were quite stingy, so I've clearly been having 200ml or more on some days. Does anyone use Almond milk or other non-moo milk? Does it taste milky enough in hot drinks?

APlaceOnTheCouch · 12/09/2017 19:27

bear I did two sports classes last week and walked lots at the weekend and my scales haven't moved either. Sad

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/09/2017 20:07

Place it's oddly reassuring that this is 'a thing' and not just me! Although wish it wasn't either of us! I am Buoyed by my success at no sugar, for now 12 days, no alcohol, none of the bad stuff, so that's keeping me going but I can see it rapidly becoming annoying. I've assumed water retention so I've done all the right things: drunk gallons of water, still kept on plan, continued to eat well. I will take my own advice and not get demotivated- a good week always shows eventually, right?

SpaghettiAlphabetti · 12/09/2017 21:40

996 today. Had a latte. All very naughty but at the time black coffee was not going to cut it.

bear static scales despite living on sub 1,000 calories and exercising shows why this is so much more complicated than 'eat less; move more'. It's so frustrating.

Flightywoman · 12/09/2017 22:57

782 with 28g of carbs.

I did hungry shopping, which could have been a disaster but somehow I managed to hold it together and bought some bean sprouts with the vague idea of a stir fry. Then there was some cooked chicken in the reduced bit so I got that and made a really nice stir fry with a bit of oyster sauce from the cupboard.

And there's enough for tomorrow's lunch! Crisis averted!

ICJump · 13/09/2017 00:53

I thought I'd say hello as I've been reading along. I'm not planning to start until the 4th of October as we are going away. Between now and then I'm going to

  1. draw up all the shopping lists for each weeks worth of food.
  2. test a few of the recipes to see which ones can be frozen/ made ahead
  3. log food in MFP
  4. use up the non plan food
  5. keep up the excerise routines I've started
  6. read along here

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.sparkpeople.com/blog/blogamp.asp%3fpost=whyythescaleegoesuppwhenyouustartaanewworkouttplan

Just found this and thought it was interesting. I'm feeling pretty bummed today as still no scale movement. After reading this I'm just going to hide the scales for a few days. It's annoying because I feel quite trim, especially in the morning, and I know I've been sticking to the plan (or at least 1000 cals!) most days and doing all the right things.

Going to see my lovely friend today, and her new baby, so not sure how the day will pan out food wise as the way I feel right now I could do some serious damage over coffee and hobnobs! Must resist! Ds woke five times last night. It's a whole other thread but maaaan, that kid needs some sleep training. It's slowly killing me. And obviously true to form, he's grouchy and whingey this morning, fighting with ds1 and being a general little crap-bag. Gonna be a loooooooong day.

Hope your days are better than mine!!

yumyumpoppycat · 13/09/2017 09:37

Oh god newaverage that sucks Flowers enjoy coffee with your friend Wink Seriously you are doing so well don't let the scales worry yo if you are feeling slim that's what matters Star

Welcome ICJump

Well done everyone you are all doing brilliantly.

I am a disaster at the mo though, need to get a grip. Keep eating the kids crusts and drinking tea and then thinking well how many cals is that, adding a bunch on to MFP then having high cals but no meals to show for it on MFP and it all goes to pot.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 13/09/2017 09:47

My sympathies and empathies bear
DS woke up crying with growing pains during the night. He fell back to sleep quite quickly and is off to school but I'm so tired. But I have one of my classes today so I'm trying to muster up some enthusiasm.
My scale had dropped by 10lbs this morning Shock which was obviously a mistake. I tried them again and I was just the same as yesterday.
I feel a bit like Eeyore today.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 13/09/2017 09:48

Meh - even my gifs don't work Sad

yumyumpoppycat · 13/09/2017 12:11

Oh no that is one depressed Eeyore

Flowers for you too aplace, fingers crossed for better nights tonight.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/09/2017 15:45

That's a cruel trick of the scales! Taunting you with 10lb loss!

Had a ham sandwich on white bread and a very small slice of cake. That's ok within my calories, carbs way over (obv) but I had no fight in me. And let's be frank, I could have eaten double that!

Tea tonight is one of my new favourites- broccoli, bacon and cheese bake. I made it last week and this time I'm going to bulk it out with cauliflower too to lower the calories per serving (quite substantially).

Hope you're all having a good day!
