yum I love the orange almond one too. I also sometimes have half a dark chocolate free-from mini rocky road (from Tesco). They are amazing even if their title is incredibly long
I baked a cake for DH this week. I was thinking I might have a teeny sliver of it today but when I got home, it was all gone. I'm trying to look on the bright side that it means less calories but atm I'm just thinking no cake for me. Sad
Well done everyone on all the losses and NSVs!

PinkBlossomTree · 07/09/2017 18:08

I nearly crumbled today I was so close as I was starving and DH brought me fudge and that's my weakness but managed to resist.

For me I'm either 100% on the diet or I'm eating crap, not good.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/09/2017 06:21

Week 2 day 1 weigh in:
Started at 12.5
Today 11.13.5
Lost this week 5.5lb!

That's great, I'm very pleased with that. Yesterday I did eat rather a lot and not all on plan, so the scales show that a bit. The weekend ahead should hopefully go to plan provided I keep my head screwed on. Dh out tonight so I'm really looking forward to a bath and and early bed provided the dc cooperate! Tomorrow might be more tricky because I think it will be the first night when Dh insists on drinking wine and I have to say no.

Bear that's absolutely amazing.

And your into the next stone category too.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/09/2017 07:44

Thanks pink

It's funny how just being in a different bracket perks you up isn't it? I'd actually gained a little from yesterday, but I'm chuffed to bits. Same again this week I hope!

In the 11s! That's a wonderful feeling to be down in the next stone Bear Grin

PinkBlossomTree · 08/09/2017 09:18

Yes Bear definitely gives you a huge boost. I always have to get back on to double check I'm not seeing things, I've had to do a double take a few times.

I've noticed not only how much better I'm sleeping since restarting but also how well I'm getting up in the morning and not groggy. I'm usually not a morning person but I've been having no issues at getting up at all.

Does anyone else find this?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/09/2017 10:15

Yes, I've slept brilliantly this week, (more 'like a baby' than my actual baby but could have done with an extra hour. I'm usually quite a poor sleeper, and I hav gone up to bed a few times thinking 'I'll never fall asleep tonight' and then still have pretty quickly. I need my sleep and I never catch up on the missed hours so gradually end up more and more exhausted.

Good work Bear!

I was feeling a bit dispirited, but looking at my actual progress I have actually lost 2lbs since Monday this week, so I'm now cheered up!

Flightywoman · 08/09/2017 11:43

ION, I really don't like those no carb konjac noodle things! I bought a bloody box, ages ago, so I've had to persevere but I'm down to 3 packets and I cannot wait for them to be gone. I have to really steel myself and can't cope with them any more than once a week!

I appear to not like any rice/pasta/noodle substitutes except for spiralised courgette...

Scandicat · 08/09/2017 12:12

Back doing strict 800 calories for at least 2 weeks to undo a bad summer of eating. This is day 6. I am finding it harder than the first time to stick to 800 calories. Any other repeat BSDers feel it gets harder?

My lowest weight was 9.5.6 before hols early August. I'd got up to 9.12.8 and now I am back down to 9.8.2. It is so motivating how quickly it works, I am just finding it hard to keep going and not tell myself 9.8 something is ok.

For those new since I last posted, I started out at 12 stone and lost 2 and 1/2 stone on the BSD. I stopped properly following the diet in April so save for summer holidays, I have managed to keep it off, which was my main concern.

JigglyTuff · 08/09/2017 12:53

The konjac ones are horrid I think flighty but the Ooja ones (is that what they're called? The fresh ones anyway) despite smelling a bit fishy are actually quite nice.

They're quite high in calories though so not for an 800 day I feel.

I've bought a jar of Patak's tandoori marinade Bear - sugar free and quite low in cals. Couldn't find any powder so this is quite a wet sauce but we'll see how it does in the oven.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/09/2017 13:44

I agree re: fake noodles. Include cauli rice in that as well! Those oomi noodles are nice though, but they don't save on cals do they? I think they are actually made of fish which is why they smell fishy, but they are delicious in a stir fry. I've got lentil pasta in the cupboard waiting for a day when I need the pasta and have the calories left to eat them!

Ooh tandoori marinade sounds nice, is it like a curry paste? I have stood for hours in asda like a loser reading sauce jars as I love a nice curry, but I've never found one with no sugar. I'll be very interested to know if it's nice.

OP posts:
JigglyTuff · 08/09/2017 14:08

That cauli rice I got in M&S was really nice (fresh - not that stuff in packets which is rank I agree). It was 80% cauliflower, 8% carrots, 6% peppers, spring onions, garlic puree and ginger puree. I'm going to have a go at recreating.

Yes - tandoori paste is like curry paste. Just ginger, garlic and spices reading the label. Will report back!

Flightywoman · 08/09/2017 14:45

Cauli rice is hideous! But I do have a real problem with substitutes - I hate things masquerading as something else it seriously irritates me!

Cloud bread? FFS, it's not 'bread' by any stretch of even the most expansive of imaginations. It's just a weird little fluffy omelette.

And fathead pizza was pretty bad too - I don't want a pizza that tastes of coconut! AND it was really faffy to make and IN NO WAY satisfied my pizza needs. Sad

I love cauliflower - when it's being cauliflower. Anything else is just....all the nope!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/09/2017 15:02

I hear you flighty!

My current cauliflower favourite is to do big chunky slices of it, and roast it- delicious with a bit of curry or Indian seasoning. Cauli and curry go so well together, but somehow cauli rice just doesn't do it for me!

I've gone way off plan today. I've got a sore wrist. It's been hurting since Tuesday so, I spent the morning at hospital. I have De Quervain's disease. I have a splint and pain killers. It's depressing.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/09/2017 16:27

Herroyal Flowers I'd never heard of that so looked it up- and discover I had that for 6 months after having my first baby! It was agony! Mine was only temporary and caused by holding the baby, but I remember it being so painful. Hope you feel better soon.

OP posts:
HerRoyalFattyness · 08/09/2017 16:57

thanks. It's horrible. And I've been in so much pain I've kind of thrown the diet.
I'll get back to it tomorrow. For now I'm just going to wallow in self pity Grin

SpaghettiAlphabetti · 08/09/2017 17:14

Well done bear

Sad herroyal that sounds painful.

I've been a saint so far today. Didn't touch any cakes at PTA thing and went to the gym and shaved a load of time off my 3km time.

Omelette and salad for lunch.

Going to try the red lentil pasta for dinner although I haven't got high hopes as generally I agree substitutes aren't great.

Planning two squares on Lindt as a Friday night treat!

APlaceOnTheCouch · 08/09/2017 17:53

bear well done on your losses and reaching the 11s !
HerRoyal I'm sure there's a theory that we need more cals when we're ill/injured so don't worry about not being as strict. I hope the pain eases Flowers
I met a friend for lunch and it was lovely but I ate so much. I'm on 721 calories and over 80g carbs which means I either stop eating now or make something for dinner and end up way over.

Flightywoman · 08/09/2017 21:17

There was a mozzarella that needed eating...

I am over cals for the day, but still under 1000, I'm calling that a WIN!!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/09/2017 21:26

I'm waaaaay over today, all on plan though, but coming in at about 1400 and 40g carbs.

No wine though. That's my 2nd Friday in a row without any. Baby ds is staying at mums tonight so there will be no middle of the night disco dancing- I'm about to go to bed and hopefully catch up on some serious zzzzs. I did my run at 5.00, managed 18 minutes today, I am amazed how much my fitness is improving even just after a week.

I'm going to try for an 800 day tomorrow, which I never normally believe I can do on a Saturday, but that's probably why I never do it IYSWIM.

OP posts:
SpaghettiAlphabetti · 09/09/2017 07:14

WI here. Down 2lb so 7lb overall.

That's ok for three weeks when I've had a few nights out. I don't have so much on over the next few weeks so it would be good to think of replicating that over the next three weeks to hit the stone.

One thing I am really pleased about is that I am hitting my goal of being more active. It was a snap decision to try BSD as my real goal was the stop the inactivity that work, in particular, working from home seems to induce.

Wish weight fell off me like it seems to for some people. I wonder if you can become immune to dieting after so many failed attempts?!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/09/2017 08:37

Morning spaghetti - I definitely think my body got wise to BSD pretty quickly. My subsequent rounds (of which there have been many!) never really got off to the successful start that my first round did. I think it's partly to do with the visceral fat round your organs, it's the rapid loss of that in the early weeks that gives those huge losses. If you've already been dieting or just happen to not have much of that then you might not get those initial huge losses. 7lb in 3 weeks is great, and you've still had a social life at the same time. If you've got a clear diary for the next few weeks, you'll surely be able to do the same again!

I feel so refreshed this morning after my early night, mini lie in (9.5 hours sleep!) and all of it alone in the big super king bed! I felt like a Disney princess getting out of bed this morning- (except no Forest animals in the bedroom).

Have a great weekend everyone!
