So my last time of opening this thread - a place to share 😊

OP posts:
Boyskeepswinging · 09/12/2019 16:40

Oooh Music sounds intriguing!

There are times when I wonder if flogging myself half to death working very hard to earn the money to fund his music and spending all my free time driving him to lessons, rehearsals, concerts and auditions is worth it. Then I have a day like yesterday and I know I wouldn't change a thing.

So presumably the money is on the results coming out tomorrow? Best of luck to you all.

Musicdoc · 09/12/2019 17:54

Boys it wasn't meant to be an intriguing post... it was a letter containing the Annual Report with DS's name on. I received an Annual Report by email with DD's name on. Presumably they are coming out before audition results to ensure they get read...?!

TrumpetVoluntary · 09/12/2019 19:11

Yes we got an email thanking us for being part of NCO this year and with a link to the annual report. I briefly tensed up thinking it was the audition result!

Boyskeepswinging · 09/12/2019 21:10

Yes, we got a hard copy through the post, too, in an attempt to get us to set up a direct debit with them. Is it usual for a charity to have that level of reserves, seems like an awful lot of money?

Trumpetdad · 09/12/2019 21:33

Charities have a legal duty to ensure they keep enough reserves to cover their operations. If you look at how much they spend each year, then reserves aren’t very high (less than a year’s expenditure)

Boyskeepswinging · 10/12/2019 05:45

Ah, thanks for explaining that Trumpet. I suppose if you think of it that way it makes sense. I was initially a bit Shock as they're always pleading poverty and that looked like a healthy bank balance to my naïve eyes.

moralvictor · 10/12/2019 09:11

Also, they explain in their report that they are planning a relocation. It seems to me quite acceptable that a charity build up reserves in order to make a significant capital investment, rather than seeking a loan or some other financing.

Luckyfab · 10/12/2019 10:52

... still nothing

Mickey33 · 10/12/2019 11:01

I still have a feeling it’s not going to be today but you never know...keep refreshing! Think it might be tomorrow on first day of registration.
Fingers cross we here soon and good luck to everyone.

folkmamma · 10/12/2019 11:10

Last year it was 4pm on the Tuesday when the first results started coming through. Given it's a 'first come first served' on the regionals places for National members, it would be very unfair not to have issued all the National places before the Regional sign up link goes live. And it usually takes a couple of days to get all the results out! so they are cutting it fine...

folkmamma · 10/12/2019 11:18

"The first TryBooking link will be sent on the afternoon of Wednesday 11 December to everyone that was offered a place. Booking will open that evening at 19:00..."

So this would suggest that if successful, we should know by tomorrow afternoon at the latest.

Luckyfab · 10/12/2019 11:23

Last year if I m not wrong the first results to come out we're U10 on Tuesday and the rest was out on Wednesday

folkmamma · 10/12/2019 11:44

Defo will be today and tomorrow. Just had confirmation from NCO HQ :-) Godd luck everyone.

DrJoUK · 10/12/2019 11:51

The last couple of days have been the hardest for me.... Really don't like waiting like this. :-( So glad to have the support over here.

violinmama · 10/12/2019 15:21

Wondering how much longer they can keep everyone waiting 😬

thirdfiddle · 10/12/2019 15:59

At least when I was auditioning for things you only had to be jumpy when the post came!

Luckyfab · 10/12/2019 18:09

I guess it will be tomorrow then

Mickey33 · 10/12/2019 18:26

I think the same...it’s going to be tomorrow at some point.

SE13Mummy · 10/12/2019 20:26

DD2 has been offered regional! She'll be thrilled because we're on holiday when the U11 national course happens so had asked to only be considered for a regional place.

Luckyfab · 10/12/2019 20:28

My Dd is in U12. So so happy

squintsoftheworldunite · 10/12/2019 20:30

I will have a very happy u10!

Karate1 · 10/12/2019 20:33

Yes for under 12!!!!!!! Can't believe. We are watching royal variety now looking forward to seeing Sheku.

folkmamma · 10/12/2019 20:47

It's a no for my little cellist but that's ok. Not entirely unexpected. And when on door opens... congrats to those with places - they're going to have a fabulous time!!

folkmamma · 10/12/2019 20:52

One door closes!!!! Oops!!

Mickey33 · 10/12/2019 21:03

Just seen my email and my DD has been offered a place in the under 10’s total surprise going to have one very happy child in the morning.
Well done to everyone
