Hi, have just joined here so hope I am posting in the correct place. Just wondering if anyone here has a child auditioning for NYMT or similar groups this year.
My DD (age 11 ) is auditioning next sunday

Thanks, that's really helpful :)

cathyandclaire · 22/01/2016 16:37

DD1 has done NYMT a couple of times and absolutely loved it, great shows and great experiences. Thoroughly recommend it. It was DD2's recall that went astray, she didn't get in but had a good day and ended up doing NYT that year, which is much more her thing.
Good luck!

Delighted to say dd and her friend both got recalls! huge excitement here!

cathyandclaire That's good to know Smile

aplo Great news for your DD and her friend-well done to them both Flowers

Bluelilies · 24/01/2016 16:42

Well done to your DD aplo! Very exciting for her. Does that mean a trip across to London for you then?

aplo · 24/01/2016 18:43

Yes back to london again on the 20/21 of February. I've managed to get pretty reasonable flights again this time so it's not too bad. We only paid €48 for both so less than £40 return last time and it's just slightly more this time round. The only pain is the difference between sterling and euro.
Before we get to the recall though we have a huge music/ dance/ drama festival here so dd has loads to do for that.

Anyone heard any more from NYMT?

Bluelilies · 05/02/2016 09:22

Not yet, my DD has her audition this Sunday.

NotEnoughTime · 06/02/2016 11:13

I hope the audition goes well for your DD tomo Bluelilies Smile

aplo · 06/02/2016 13:30

best of luck to your DD Bluelillies, hope she has a wonderful day!
We have heard nothing more yet from them but I presume they will wait until all auditions are finished before sending out more info. Flights and hotel are booked though and excitement is high!

Well she had a great time, she says. It's a long day isn't it? Says it all seemed to go well and she enjoyed the dance they did very much as she knew the song. Hopefully hear if she gets a recall by the end of the week.

Still not heard back from the YMT, which should be soon.

aplo · 09/02/2016 12:37

fingers crossed for her!! still waiting to hear details here but in mid competition week so thats keeping us very busy! DD placed in two competitions yesterday and my older DS has two today!

Just heard Dd got a recall :) . But unfortunately it's for the one show where the dates clash with our holiday plans. I didn't realise they recalled for specific shows. I've emailed them now to let them know she can't do that one but probably should have done so sooner.

aplo · 10/02/2016 22:50

Well done to your DD Bluelillies! Which show did she get called for?

We got an email today with all the details about what she has to learn for the recall, she is in the Sunday morning group, her friend is Saturday afternoon!

Bluelilies · 11/02/2016 07:09

The Pied Piper. Not heard back yet as to whether they'd consider her for the other one that covers her age group.DD thinks not because she thinks someone she knows at school was recalled for both, so she thinks the other show didn't want her. She's quite cuffed to have had a recall though and we're still waiting to hear from YMT so possible they'll offer her something with better dates.

EvilTwins · 14/02/2016 22:28

Anyone know how many they recall for these shows? A boy I teach has a recall for Spring Awakening at the weekend. Just wondering what he might be up against.

NotEnoughTime · 16/02/2016 18:54

EvilTwins
No idea I'm afraid-would love to know too. My DS has been recalled for "Boat" and I have told him not to get too excited as I'm sure there will be loads recalled. Good Luck to your pupil-when is he going? My DS is there this Sunday afternoon.

NotEnoughTime · 16/02/2016 18:55

Good Luck to all at the recalls this weekend or should I say break a leg? Grin

EvilTwins · 17/02/2016 13:39

Good luck to your DS NotEnough. My student is there Sunday afternoon too. I've just been in school with him for a couple of hours going through the material. Lucky I'm not away over half term really as he has no way of going over stuff otherwise - he reads music a bit but has no piano at home and neither of his parents are particularly musical. It did make me wonder how some kids manage - he's been sent the sheet music but what if you don't have any way of going through it? Not exactly inclusive.

NotEnoughTime · 17/02/2016 19:36

Thanks EvilTwins I know what you mean re the material. My DS can't read music, we don't have a piano and neither DH or I are musical so we can't help him so it will be a struggle for him too Sad

However even if he doesn't get any further he really enjoyed the audition day so that's good.

I have seen some of your previous posts on MN and (without wishing to be creepy) just wanted to say you sound a really lovely teacher-your pupils are very lucky to have you Flowers

EvilTwins · 17/02/2016 19:54

Blush oh thank you! I love my job.

NotEnoughTime · 17/02/2016 20:05

It shows Smile

NotEnoughTime · 20/02/2016 21:19

Did anyone's DC go to the recall today?

aplo · 21/02/2016 00:07

My Dd's friend (and my student) was there today, she was not 100% happy with her singing but was happy with acting and dancing so we just have to wait and see. DD is all set for the morning now. It's a scary time handing them over to be judged!!

Which show is your DD up for aplo?
