My DS will be there later for "Boat" too aplo

I was going to take him today but have come on overnight with the period from hell so my DH is going to take him instead.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a good day-whatever the nailbiting outcome Smile

They let them know fairly quickly don't they? I have students waiting to hear from NYT too and they take ages.

I remember DD did an audition one year - she didn't get in and was a bit upset

Then we got a phone call saying that she would have got in the previous year for a 'dance' show but were confused by her Drama/singing.......we'd found out in the weeks since she'd had glandular fever & had practically collapsed after the dance workshop!!

Good luck to all your DC & have fun

How was it NotEnough & aplo? My student has told me it went as well as it could have and so if he doesn't get cast, it's not because he could have tried harder. Best anyone could ask for I think.

EvilTwins My DS just got home-he really enjoyed it. He said he thought it went quite well-but wasn't happy with his singing Confused

He thought everyone there was fab.

As you said if they have done their best then that is all you can ask for.

How did your DD get on aplo?

Just at the airport here, flight is delayed so we won't get home until the early hours..
DD absolutely loved it and feels she could not have done better especially in her singing and dancing. She has decided that she will do the summer course with them if she doesnt make it this time. The director remembered her name when she arrived this morning and asked her about flights etc so it set her up well for the day and she knows the choreographer from a show she did at home a few years ago so she was very comfortable with him too (he is Irish)
Hopefully we hear soon and can move on one way or another but I am delighted that she was so happy.
I met one of my former students there today too who had recalls for Spring Awakening and Brass and she seemed happy enough too.

My DS was there today as well, for Boat and Pied Piper. He thought his singing could have gone better but was happy with the acting and dance. And he LOVED the whole day. I am just amazed at the confidence they all seem to have. Aplo was your DD wearing shorts today? I think she came in just behind my DS if so!

Report
aplo · 21/02/2016 22:50

Yes she had a navy blazer and shorts on!

Good luck to you all! We dropped out of the recall as they only wanted to see her for the Pied Piper, and that was the one show that clashed with our holiday plans :( DD is a bit disapointed, though pleased to have got a recall. And still waiting to hear from YMT -think they've just finished their audition tour this weekend so hopefully soon on that one.

Yes aplo, it was your daughter we saw! Fingers crossed for good news for all. I have no idea what the odds are of getting a place if recalled, but it didn't seem to be a huge event.

I was trying to figure out the numbers. My student reckons there were 8 boys and 12 girls in his session, and I'm assuming they did at least 3 sessions yesterday and the same on Saturday. So given giw many thousands apply each year, it seems that getting a recall is a pretty big achievement. He's up for Spring Awakening which is a small cast and no ensemble so I'm keeping everything crossed (slightly over-invested, but it's hard not to be!)

I was chatting to one of the guys who does registrations there and they recalled 120 for each show with between 10/24 being cast in each.
They saw over 1500 people in the first rounds.

Thank you aplo. DS wants to be the one to open the email so I will probably have to wait until Thursday morning. Aaah! I am veering between trying to manage his expectations and not wanting him to think I have no faith in him...!

Good luck everyone!

Emails from NYMT appear to be going out today. DD got a rejection but saying how much she'd impressed the judges at her recall, which is very impressive considering she wasn't actually there Grin

Good luck to those of you who were!

That's brilliant Bluelillies, I presume they have a generic thanks but no thanks email for everyone they recalled who doesn't make it.
The director of battle of the boat tweeted last night about her casting being delayed so hopefully we will still hear soon!! I have never refreshed my email so much. I told Dd that we won't hear until Friday at the earliest to stop the incessant questions.
She has an audition for a local production of Annie on Saturday morning so she has that to focus on too as well as rehearsals for Beauty and the beast which is on in a month so at least she is busy!

That's funny, Bluelilies.

Aplo, NYMT have tweeted again to say results will still go out later today... What time does your DD go to bed? DS has scouts so will be up till about 9.30 anyway. I really hope it's come by then because if it comes later and I have to look at it but not open it (forbidden by DS) I won't get any sleep!!
