Hi, have just joined here so hope I am posting in the correct place. Just wondering if anyone here has a child auditioning for NYMT or similar groups this year.
My DD (age 11 ) is auditioning next sunday

Thanks Pinkstar, good to know now that we will need a pianist and some help!!

Biscuitsneeded · 10/02/2017 13:35

Aplo it would be nice if it meant they didn't have to disappoint too many people after the recalls. OK, so it's not a fully-produced show, but it's still a week of top quality experience, a residential with like-minded kids and some industry pros. Plus it might well develop into something bigger in the future.. And dates-wise it might be possible to do that AND Honk or Billy the Kid, so I wonder if that's also an option?

janinlondon · 10/02/2017 13:56

PSG12 - Sorry, can I ask, did the recall info come by email or post please?

Pinkstargazer12 · 10/02/2017 14:19

Hi there. The info came by email. Jeremy has just confirmed no recall for little princess.

Thanks for your support and best of luck to all the talented kids!!

Biscuitsneeded · 10/02/2017 14:20

Hello JaninLondon, have you got a recalled DC too? Which show(s)?

Last year it came as an email with links to a DropBox with all the material in it. I imagine it will be the same this time. Hope that helps.

Biscuitsneeded · 10/02/2017 14:22

Oh yes, good luck everyone. It's such a great thing to be a part of, I hope all our DC have a brilliant time at the recalls.

janinlondon · 10/02/2017 14:26

Thank you both for the info. Yes, DD has a recall for Sunday in the Park (and Princess).

Biscuitsneeded · 10/02/2017 14:34

Ah, that proves my theory! Your DD must be older if she has a Sunday in the Park recall. Good luck to her!

janinlondon · 10/02/2017 14:39

Thanks - yes, she is 17, but we are total newbies at this. She also auditioned for the YMT, and I cant find anyone else who is juggling both!

Biscuitsneeded · 10/02/2017 14:44

Lots of people do! DS hasn't, but a few of his NYMT friends last year had auditioned for both and one even DID both in one summer!

janinlondon · 10/02/2017 14:48

OH thank you! I was worried I'd committed cardinal drama mother error 101...

Biscuitsneeded · 10/02/2017 15:21

No, it's a really good strategy! You will probably find out about NYMT first unless YMT have got faster at the casting process, so if your DD gets in, that's great, but if she doesn't, you may well find she's got a YMT place. If she's good enough to get an NYMT recall I would say that bodes well, because I think YMT are probably slightly easier to get into by virtue of having more productions, and also because NYMT cast first, which means YMT don't get everyone they initially select and so there is a bit of movement on their reserve lists...
I like the notion of cardinal drama mother errors though. We should have a separate thread about those...

aplo · 10/02/2017 15:34

Loving the cardinal drama mother errors!!
Congrats to your Dd Jan, Sunday is one of my favourite shows.
We are contemplating here if we should drive to a YMT audition tomorrow - audition is Sunday and we have friends to stay with nearby. It would be a nice back up plan at the very least!! Just trying to work out the logistics of my two ds's for the weekend and might just go!
Still no email here for the recalls but just realised that this time next week we will be in London! It's all getting very real now.

I'll have to check with my student later to see if he's had audition stuff through. It's the last night of our school show tonight and he's the lead - I'm hoping he's had it - recalls are next weekend and we're now on half term! I'm the only person he has to go over stuff with.

Biscuitsneeded · 10/02/2017 17:11

Still nothing here...

Biscuitsneeded · 10/02/2017 17:36

Oh Aplo I think you and DD should go to the YMT auditions and see what it's all about. Can't hurt to have two irons in the fire, can it?

Biscuitsneeded · 10/02/2017 17:40

Just had an email headed 'additional information' clarifying that there is no material for A Little Princess - as we suspected that will be cast once teh other casting process is complete. However, it also says 'hope you have all received your recall information', which we haven't. Poor Jeremy will now probably be deluged with people querying, so I think I will sit tight for a bit in case it turns up. Can I just check that the rest of you haven't got your info yet either? If there's been an email hitch I'm sure someone will alert Jeremy!

aplo · 10/02/2017 17:50

Email just came through here. Dd is surprised that there is no dance element this year.

aplo · 10/02/2017 17:53

Just booked YMT too. We will have two long car journeys but I'm going to record the songs for NyMT tonight and we can rehearse uninterrupted there and back.
Dd is over the moon that one of the songs for imaginary is the song that Stuart M P posted this week on his Facebook and she has been listening and singing it all week!
Hope you hear soon biscuits, our two emails came together. (The princess clarification one and the recall material)

Biscuits, my student hasn't had an email yet!

Got it now. When is your DD there Aplo? DS is going Saturday...

aplo · 10/02/2017 20:49

She is also Saturday from 10am.

Biscuitsneeded · 10/02/2017 21:10

Excellent! May see you there then!

aplo · 10/02/2017 21:30

Looking forward to it, if you want to grab a coffee after they go in that would be lovely!

Biscuitsneeded · 10/02/2017 21:55

Yes let's! I am coming with another mum whose daughter is a schoolfriend of DS and is recalled for exactly the same shows at the same time, but I don't really know her very well except that she's friendly, so the more the merrier! From what I remember there's not much in the way of coffee shops near the school but I'm sure we'll find something and it would be lovely to meet in the flesh! I'll PM you before next weekend (if I can work out how to!) so you'll know which one is me!
