Can't believe I am suggesting this AGAIN, anyone want to buddy up on starting Couch to 5k?

I have started so may times and failed an equal number.

Anyone want to start with me again?

All the ladies I started with on the original thread are now running 10k. It can be done, I just need to sort myself out.

Come and shame me into it.

Count me in - definitely need to improve my fitness levels.

giddykipper · 26/10/2009 20:55

Fabbo

  1. I want to be able to enjoy skiing next time I go and
  2. I want to be able to eat biscuits without gaining weight

So that's:

Well I did it before and ran 10k. Restarted a few weeks ago and got to week4. Now got an abdominal infection - so once that's sorted you're on!

scrappydappydoo · 26/10/2009 21:36

Considering it - if I sign up now do I have to start now?? Bit worried about running in the dark...
plus side - no-one will see me
negative side - no-one will see me
Also what do you wear?
(can you tell I'm procrastinating - c'mon convince me to pull myself together)

ShouldntButcherThemWithRecords · 26/10/2009 21:38

Me please.

Stopped running after shin splints and my 5k race for life back in June

Might not start yet though as not sure when I'll get chance to fit it in...

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 27/10/2009 06:22

I'd love too but I'm having an op next week so won't be able to get going much before christmas.

How's that for procrastination

Pennies · 27/10/2009 09:32

Also got gut rot here but did the whole thing this year (in your New Year thread, if I remember rightly giddykipper) and was still going strong at the end of the summer hols but haven't run since school started back.

Am planning to re-start at week 4 next week, so I'll be doing 5k by Xmas when hopefully I've got rid of whatever this bug / infection thing is and the children are back at school.

Are you doing "Rawwbert"?

bramblebooks · 27/10/2009 11:11

loves rawb heart emoticon

travellingwilbury · 27/10/2009 11:17

Me please , I am a complete beginner . I have down loaded the podcasts and did manage to do the first run on saturday but can't see how I can fit it in this week as its half term .

So week one next week for me .

Is anybody else starting from a level of pretty much non fitness ?

Pennies · 27/10/2009 11:34

TW - I was a complete novice when I started and couldn't even run for the bus. I could do OK in the gym but had never been able to run on the road. For some reason I just found it impossible to keep going - so much harder than on a treadmill.

I hearted Rawwbert too. Then I found a pic of him. I still heart the podcasts though.

travellingwilbury · 27/10/2009 11:48

Thanks Pennies , I really want to do it and get my fitness levels up as well as losing some of this lard .

giddykipper · 27/10/2009 15:20

I am starting from zero fitness too, but I know it can work so I am really keen to give it a proper try. I'm going to try to do w2r1 tonight, I always have to go out in the dark because I work during the day. I run in a residential area so I don't feel quite so vulnerable, and the dark is a blessing!

Will report back on progress later.

Been out and I'm back.

Not as bad as I feared, I reckon I had a bit more in me.

travellingwilbury · 28/10/2009 06:32

Well done , I am going to struggle this week because of half term . But I am really keen to get into this properly .

giddykipper · 29/10/2009 21:32

Just been out again, managed it, very pleased with myself

josette · 29/10/2009 21:48

Interested.... but generally unfit and a bit crap at keeping going with any exercise things.
What podcasts???

NotaStepfordWife · 29/10/2009 21:51

YYY - count me in ... though what do you do? is there some sort of programme you all follow?

charlotteolivia · 29/10/2009 22:00

ME ME ME! I replied on the other thread but they are all way ahead! I did run 1 the other day. Was suppose to do run 2, but....uh.... I found something else to do!!
Not that I'm avoiding it at all....!
I run in massive t shirts, running tights that I use for biking too and trainers that have seen better days.... Think I might treat myself to some new ones for xmas.

Josette and NotaStepfordWife, if you google Couch to 5k you will find it

There is also an iphone app that is dirt cheap and really good. That is what I'm using.

giddykipper · 30/10/2009 21:09

I just found that ipod app too charlotteolivia, much better than Robert's podcast. I can actually listen to my own music for a change.

This is the couch to 5k programme.

Here are Robert's podcasts if you want to use them.

But I would definitely suggest you go for the app if you have an ipod touch or iphone.

can I join in? I was very fit before but had first baby 3 months ago and have sat on the couch rather too long. Also slightly concerned about pelvic floor, agitation/bouncing thereof.

Is it open ended or do we try to do 5k in ?mins by ?date

giddykipper · 30/10/2009 21:26

We try to do 5k without stopping in 9 weeks.

It's a very slow build up thankfully.

OP posts:
Colonelcupcake · 02/11/2009 10:55

Me please, I am starting today but have stayed away from the fit ladies on the other group.

My Aim:

I will get fit and be able to run 5k (or more)
I will lose weight
I will get toned

So W1R1 Today

NotaStepfordWife · 02/11/2009 13:52

OK ladies - here goes... I start today

Lexi - also recently had a baby, and my babyweight just has to go. Running worked for me with DD1.

I might do Davina DVD a couple of times a week too - my friend has done it and looks fabulous.

Lexilicious · 02/11/2009 21:59

I walked 4 miles today in two shopping trips. So the distance isn't a problem, now just got to do it with a jogging motion.

Pennies · 03/11/2009 10:26

Hello ladies.

I did my first run since September today and I started back on the C25k podcast (week 4 run 1).

Considering I'm full of cold it was OK - I think I could have done more but the way I've come a cropper when starting to run in the past is to do too much too soon. I'm going to stay on week 4 for all 3 runs and then see how week 5 goes (which was a real mental block for me last time and it took me weeks and weeks to manage to do it).

It was good to get rid of some cobwebs though - I hadn't realised how much I have missed it.

Off to check out the iphone app now. I quite like Rawb's music but sometimes it's a bit samey and one of the weeks (can't remember which) is downright depressing!
