Wow that's a bridge and a half!!

When i say almost daily practice ... if i had to put a number on it i'd say i've averaged at 5 times a week over the 3 years. Weirdly when away on holls or weekends or whatever i've been more likely to keep it up because it's a novelty and lovely being able to do it with a view of the sea or the river or mountains or whatever. I find the week in week out at home harder to be motivated. Getting on the mat is the hardest part. I enjoy it once i start. I too struggle to breathe properly sometimes.

I began because i went to sit down on the floor to do something one day and struggled to sit cross legged! 😳 I was horrified with myself.

It helped my bed lower back no end after a couple of months. Now i know i must never stop! 🤪

Does anyone here have little rituals that go with their yoga? I like to light an incense come and play buddha flute music 😊

Im rambling away sorry! I've never chatted about it to anyone else.

Yogachick · 06/06/2026 09:03

@Pinkfluffypencilcase looking for joy everywhere is going to be my new mantra🌻
@YogaFlow that bridge is AWESOME, mine is mere inches from the floor

Hi everyone!

Nice to see all the yoga chat here

I only started yoga last year and do a weekly class in addition to Peloton classes (20 minute morning flow 3 times a week or so and a 45 min power sculpt / yin / power flow etc at the weekend, depending on what I need. I definitely notice a difference if I miss a week!

I started due to work stress / burnout and poor sleep.

Am starting a new class next week which includes Nidra / breathwork / meditation so am excited for that too.

I generally do mine before work to set me up for the day but doing it right after work to unwind is an interesting idea so I think I will give that a go soon!

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 06/06/2026 12:44

Day 29 flow

just watched as she did crow!

I like the idea of after work but I k no w if I don’t do it early in my day then I won’t do it at all.

and I love the lighting incense and playing music. Making it an occasion.

NewLifter · 06/06/2026 14:09

I light candles, must try incense next time! I have some I've never opened!

Yogachick · 06/06/2026 18:34

Wwlcome @NewLifter I hope your practice is helping with your stress/burnout. Your classes sound interesting
l’m with @Pinkfluffypencilcase as a morning yoga person. I have done it but it’s a chore for me to get to the mat later in the day. I also love early mornings this time of year, the light is amazing
Hows the toe @B0D ? Hopefully not too painful
Return- Listen from my swap yesterday. Another gentle one with some repetitive flowy moves. Was a good one for me today as I’m low energy again

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 07/06/2026 13:30

Day 30 flow. The silent thing. Stopped after ten not for me at all.

NewLifter · 07/06/2026 19:44

That's disappointing for you! Would you ever feel you can just do a few poses yourself if that happens? Sometimes I just do several rounds of sun sals if I'm not feeling what's going on or I can't keep up.

I did 45 mins of yin this eve at home.

Booked a yin class in a studio later this month, somewhere I've never been - it's followed by a sound bath in yoga hammocks! I'm excited!

Thanks for the suggestion of incense, have preferred it to my usual candles!

I hope the rest of you had a peaceful weekend 🧘‍♀️

fingfong · 07/06/2026 19:53

what a lovely thread. I will join if that's ok, I need to get back on my mat before I totally seize up. You guys have inspired me!

Yogachick · 07/06/2026 22:08

Welcome @fingfong it’s why I created the thread😂
Return 4 Centre from the monthly calendar. Like Day 6 of the 30 days, not too hideous doing but feel like someone has been pummelling my belly now I’ve finished.Still no back work when core is mentioned. A very late one for me 945pm, I’m impressed with myself for not copping out

Couldn’t face another gentle Adriene today so did Day 1 of Charlie Follows Beginners & Improvers weekly playlist .Struggled initially but ended very clear headed and energised. A lovely creative practice as well. I found my yoga streak document on the computer and filled in my yoga days this year. I can only ring my YWA practices on the calendar on the app,and a few Sarah Beth ones. I know there were more but looking at it overall it’s not a bad effort 67 out of 159 days,my longest streak was 18 days, I’m currently on Day 12 as I did a few SB before starting here,am in awe of your streak @YogaFlow .I always hated the day 30 on the 30 days @Pinkfluffypencilcase ,when she’s not speaking I’m just trying to see what she’s doing so I can follow along,I need the guidance.
Here’s the Charlie playlist if anyone is interested

YogaFlow · 10/06/2026 23:10

Hello yoga friends, welcome to the new posters, it's lovely that you have joined this fabulous thread.

Sorry I haven't posted, I had a busy weekend, and a busy week so far. I'm still going.

@Laiste I've never done yoga outside, I always have the blinds closed, no lights on and just the glow of the TV. I also have my eyes closed more often than not. Yoga is my treat once I get home from work. Bliss.

@NewLifter Your yoga classes sound really interesting, and yoga is great for sleep and stress. I like Yoga With Adriene, mostly in the evening.

@Yogachick 67 out of 159 is great, almost 50%, well done. I've not tried Charlie Fellows, I'll have to look it up when work calms down in a couple of weeks.

I'm still going, Saturday I did a YWA morning practice, Sunday was back to YWA in the evening a quick 15 min relaxing practice as I was shattered. Monday and Tuesday I did YWA for digestion as I had a dodgy tum. Today, it was mad at work so I did a 17 min YWA for being overstimulated. It did the trick!

Streak day 70 and mindful eating day 14 - the yoga and improved eating is really making me feel much better.

Laiste · 11/06/2026 06:09

I find it so interesting hearing about how others practice their yoga at home!!

On an average day i'm on the mat upstairs in a room which doesn't have much else in it, so lots of space which i'm lucky to have. I do a bit of hand weight lifting for upper arms (HATE that but) and some crunches first, which i think help my back a lot.

Then down on the mat and light an incense cone and put on music on phone. I always like to face the window. See the sky and the top of the willow outside. Yes my eyes are shut most of the time lol. Love it when where i sit has a patch of sunshine.

I like doing yoga in the morning after shower and before anything else, and if i can't do it then that's when i struggle with myself to do it later that day. I feel myself keep putting it off.

Im finding it's taking ages for my hip to stop grumbling 😞 Ankle is better, back is ok 🤞

I'll never stop for that long again. It costs nothing to just get on the floor for half an hour 5 days a week. 🙄 I was silly.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 11/06/2026 11:50

Well I did the Charlie fellows 20 mins you linked @Yogachick
i feel like I was cheating on Adrienne. But I liked it!
All the transitions were different. And even just the way she hopped to front of mat you can see she’s strong.

Yogachick · 11/06/2026 18:56

Good to hear you’re still going @YogaFlow . I hear you about cheating on Adriene @Pinkfluffypencilcase but Charlie is so clear & balanced & the scenery is gorgeous. I’m impressed with your routines @Laiste , it’s lovely to have a calm space. My big dog likes to watch and ‘assist’ my practice so my space is basic & safe for her🙄good to hear your ankle is better, hips probably take longer as it’s a bigger joint. I’m somewhat less of a tin man but have a way to go to feel my normal again.
I’m struggling atm with a fibro flare again, sometimes my yoga can reduce the inflammation but am so exhausted I’m napping a lot, so out of my yoga morning routine. 630pm practice tonight, Charlie again ,a peppy little sweat inducing 15 min practice with the sound of a brook trickling through. Lovely ,though my brain is still fibro clogged,my body is less crunchy. I’m a bit concerned to see a 45 min practice on the playlist but will see how I feel. I’ve found my 10 mins a day Sarah Beth calendar so I have a back up if I still aren’t feeling Adrieney

OP posts:
Pinkfluffypencilcase · 11/06/2026 19:09

Agree Charlie fellows was really clear in her instructions. I’ve found her 30 day beginners yoga so I’ll try that next. I like the Adrienne ones as I can get emails set up as a reminder.

Yogachick · 12/06/2026 09:01

Got to share this one, morning practice for me so much better and what a practice! So many excellent teaching points in here, yet options for the less bendy. Fantastic!

@Laiste I too like hearing about others yoga practice, too. Sounds like a lovely routine you've got there. I hope your hip improves soon.

@Pinkfluffypencilcase I think I'd feel like I was cheating on Adriene too, if I practice with someone else. I'll look up Charlie's 30 day beginners yoga.

@Yogachick It's good to hear you're feeling less tin man, and I hope your flare eases quickly.

Yesterday, Day 71 YWA, 16 mins Bija digestion practice - my first yoga practice with Om chanting near the end.
Today, Day 72 YWA 17 mins Healing. It wasn't what I expected, half press ups to child pose and repeat a few times, I liked it though.

Laiste · 13/06/2026 10:04

Thank you x This morning my hip was much better!! I pretended not to notice 🤣 in case it started again ....

When i began yoga it was with Adrienne for the first few months. I'd googled youtube yoga and found her. However, because i have such awful weak wrists (i've got hyper mobility and all my joints are a bit pathetic) i had to also look up 'easy on the wrists' yoga. Then i sat through a few meditation videos with the sound bath (bonging the brass bowls. Lovely 🥰) After a while i combined all of this with the quick arm weights thing.

I too felt bad for not watching Adrienne at first but her voice was in my head. It still is all this time later when i'm not in the mood and i'm mentally huffing about getting on the floor and i hear her saying 'well done! You've done the hardest bit - getting here on the mat!'

It's not always easy, i find, to quieten my mind. Often i can, but sometimes if i'm a bit wound up about something i can't turn it off. Does anyone else occasionally go though their practice looking serene but still seething inside about something and failing to breathe it away? Angry yoga 😂

Yogachick · 13/06/2026 12:31

@YogaFlow great practices. I like the feeling of an ‘om’ but feel very self concious, even though I’m alone in the room I yoga in🙄
@Laiste I’m sure angry yoga is a thing, but don’t you find after a practice, despite your best efforts to hold onto your rage,it’s dissapated at least a bit?Happy to see your hip ( whispers) is feeling better ,trying not to talk up a relapse x
I did the 45 min Charlie practice! Amazed myself. Struggled for the first 10 mins, felt very weak but took plenty of breaks and soon got in my stride. Then every moment felt like a precious gift. I’m thinking my practice has been stagnant for so many years because I’ve just stuck with Adriene( no offence to those who prefer her) I thought she was brilliant, and she is ,but Charlie is so creative and focused she’s brilliant differently. Her shorts on YouTube are a great learning tool as well. I feel Charlie is stepping forward while Adriene seems to be stepping back somewhat atm. And a few minutes after yesterday’s practice my pain went right down and my energy picked up ,I’m giving the practice the credit for that 🤩 I think I’m on Day 17 now.
