I dont know if its the clocks going back, but i have been so tired these last few days.
Yesterday although it was meant to be my full body day i got home from work, sat on the sofa and thought "nope" which isnt like me.
Got bored of HR so back picking and choosing CG workouts from youtube.
Too much jumping involved in CA workouts 😆 but i do quite enjoy them on occasion.

BigButtons · 29/10/2025 14:05

I am tired too . I tied to do a ln epic 3 upper body just now and my body went ‘nope’ the weights felt so heavy and I had no strength at all . Clearly a rest is needed - I hate taking them because I find it so hard to start again and then I worry I will lose all my gains. I also know this is a nonsense . It’s also me feeling k need to step away from the pressure of lifting and lifting.
Anyone got a nice gentle mobility session they can recommend- Caroline are too hard core- need something that will soothe my whole overwrought system

I've learned to take feeling unusually tired seriously as I feel quite low when I've overdone strength training or cardio.

Thanks @Gobacktotheworld - I am currently sat on the sofa knitting and watching the witches 😍

I can't keep up with this thread, it's so nice to see it really active!
@Gobacktotheworld I'm not following a programme as such, just doing upper lower with various sessions picked from PE and Intent which are my to favourites. This week I've had a break and 'treated' myself to Unleash which is great fun. I'm going to the UK tomorrow for a few days so I'll just take my kettlebells with me which will make a nice change.
Are you doing less cardio, that would make the RHR go up,or an overactive thydoid which I had once, but it really goes up and you can't run or anything, you lose loads of weight, it was horrible!

Fibrous · 29/10/2025 15:44

@samthebordercollie i had Graves’ disease (autoimmune over active thyroid) in my late twenties and I thought I was dying. My thyroid has been screwed ever since although it doesn’t really bother me just throws up some new feature every now and then.

Im supposed to be doing hill reps this eve but no one wants to join me so I might skip this one to acclimatise to the clock change.

the dogs are so angry about their later dinner time. They are eyeballing me with their sad eyes from 3pm.

Melassa · 29/10/2025 15:48

@Fibrous my cat’s inner clock wakes me up for breakfast at 6.30. Dinner time is whenever he takes a break from his nap. Being a multicultural cat, he embraces English high tea at 5pm, normal Italian dinner time at 8pm, then the “midnight spaghetti” at just before midnight. Which I give him, in the hope it will tide him over until breakfast, but no.

Fibrous · 29/10/2025 15:57

@Melassa my cat deposits a mouse’s head in my bathroom for me to step on if I even think about giving him food he doesn’t like or if he ever arrives to an empty bowl. Such a tyrant! He doesn’t even like me. If I walk into the room he swipes me and leaves 😆. If my boyfriend walks into the room, it’s like Jesus has appeared to his disciples. His whole face lights up and he makes a pathetic mewling ‘save me from this woman’ noise.

BigButtons · 29/10/2025 16:02

@samthebordercollie i reckon my rhr has deffo been creeping up since the lack of cardio days- this is despite living in a town with very steep hills which I climb up most days.

I'm still bashing my way through Iron Pro, a bit behind as I was on holiday. I'm actually missing Max, when I see quad focussed leg day I want to weep.

But I'm lifting a bit heavier, and also getting 10km in for one of my weekly runs, so feeling quite good overall.

samthebordercollie · 29/10/2025 16:45

When I saw the exciting leg day of Iron Pro this morning I felt quite sorry for everyone still doing it. 4 sets of lunges, 3 sets of squats and single leg RDLs. 🥱

What a ridiculous (and ill-informed) thing for her to say). I like some of her videos, but her voice annoys me as she has a bit of vocal fry (sorry Charlie).

Have you tried Down Dog app for yoga? I really rate it. I pay less than £20 for the year, and your subscription costs remains fixed so they won't increase it. They often have an offer on in the new year. Or if you do a free trial they might offer a good deal afterwards.

It has loads of variety. I mainly do yin, hatha, vinyasa, wake-up yoga and Pilates. And you can customise it in terms of workout length, intervals, music etc. It's really great.

ItsCoolForCats · 29/10/2025 17:05

I'm nearly finished week 2 of the original iron on the app. I'm enjoying it so far, but I'll probably get restless around the half way mark.

I really like the length of the workouts though as they are easy to fit in with working full-time. The difference between doing a 37 minute workout or a 45 minute workout feels immense from a psychological point of view, especially when I'm busy, even though it's only an 8 minute difference.

Fibrous · 29/10/2025 19:16

Yeah I skipped the run but did the iron pro leg day instead. Or 80% of it, which was enough. Basically the time it took to place a takeaway order and for the curry to arrive. No regrets at missing that last 20%.

I can highly recommend Yoga with Kassandra, she has a very calming way about her and cats that wander in and out of the frame.

I love her videos where her foster kittens are running around. I recall she even did one at a pig sanctuary 😄

Thanks for the Kassandra recommendation! I did a nice half hour yin yoga session in front of the fire last night before ramping back up my heart rate with a couple of episodes of Severance.

SpaceRaccoon · 31/10/2025 08:12

Ah, thanks for the reminder to watch that! Severance has been on my radar for ages.
Do you have a log burner @Fibrous? It was my saviour last winter but I've been lazy about sticking it on now that we have "proper" central heating.

Fibrous · 31/10/2025 08:22

@SpaceRaccoon yeah we do. it goes on every evening - we live in an old terraced mill cottage so two or three logs is enough to warm the house up in these autumn evenings. And it's just so comforting! I know it's supposed to be bad for you and polluting etc but I think every house in our village has one so we're all in it together.

I grew up in a house with no central heating - we had open turf fires. And my aunts and uncles are all alive into their 90s with no lung issues so I'm not worrying about it.

SpaceRaccoon · 31/10/2025 08:34

@Fibrous I kept reading about how bad they are so I bought an air purifier. Guess what - it literally has no reaction to the fire being on. It on the other hand freaks out when I blow dry and straighten my hair.

The air outside is definitely fine too as we have lichens growning on the rocks in the garden, and they apparently only grow in clean air.

My neighbour still heats with coal and I actually love catching a hint of it on the air - tbf we're quite spread out where I am. I bet turf and peat smell even more evocative.

Fibrous · 31/10/2025 09:02

Ah that’s interesting - we have an air purifier but it’s in our bedroom (dp has hayfever and all the pets sleep in the room with us so that’s where it’s needed or we’d die of farts and fluff!). I should test it out on the wood burner but yeah, not worried about it like you say. Burning peat is very distinctive! Especially if it’s damp. It’s only my parents generation that still do it, mine can’t be bothered and also worry about the carbon footprint and peat big destruction. It’s a lot of effort digging, drying, transporting and piling it all up in a shed, but I love the look of it stacked up neatly in there, covered in cobwebs.
