Hi. Can anybody give a recommendation for exercise leggings? Or are sweaty Betty still worth the investment? Many thanks in advance 😊

I won’t buy gym sets from anywhere but Born Nouli these days. Sane prices and their leggings are the most comfortable, supportive things ever. Plus they’re gorgeous

@TerrysCIockworkOrange what is the sizing like in Born Nouli? It’s a brand I’ve not tried, they look great and have a good selection in 7/8 length.

Readytoevolve · 01/01/2025 14:27

I’m short, so the SB 7/8 work really well. What would have a similar shorter option?

Pretty accurate. The compression is pretty strong, so there’s usually a bit of wriggling to get them on but the waistband is SO comfortable once you’re in and they just make everything look smooth and pert 😂

Gymshark and Adanola are great.

Avoid AYBL at all costs. Crap material and cheaply made.

I posted around 3-4 years back asking for advice on replacing all my fitness wear - SB Power and M&S were recommended most. I ended up trying both and initially was equally happy so M&S was the most cost-effective at less than half the price. As I exercised more, I found M&S were too warm once I was warm (gym use only, I don't run outside) and they split at seams after a couple of years. Still good value considering number of wears but the SB pairs are still being worn daily so definitely were superior quality.

I have since bought more from SB, like a PP, I love Supersculpt but only available via archive sales now and the Powers are not as thick as my original pairs. Saying that, my most recent thinner Powers have not yet bobbled and are still being worn daily so I have no reason to complain.

Majority of younger women at the gym wear Adanola and Gymshark but I don't have the inclination to try elsewhere and then end up returning when they don't quite fit. I refuse to consider Fabletics because I just don't agree with fitness wear being a subscription from an environmental perspective.

I used to be a huge Sweaty Betty fan but in recent years the quality has gone drastically downhill at the same time as the price increased. I have some old ones which are indestructible but I wouldn’t buy any more now.

Does anyone know, are Gymshark good for running?

Agree with this. I bought some Sweaty Betty leggings in the sale and the material feels poor quality - thin and see through! 😭

Were they Zero’s? They have always been thin and not squat proof but that was their selling point and SB have always been upfront about that. The thinness was never a problem for me when the quality was good as I use them exclusively for running so I prefer them thinner. If the ones you bought were Powers or any others, then I agree - a definite decline in quality.

Can anybody explain how fabletics works? I find their website so confusing!!

They have low prices and special offers for their VIP members. So when you make a purchase you become a member. As a member you will be charged a monthly fee unless you log on to the website each month and skip the month. They send an email reminder. If you don't skip you pay the fee and get a credit to spend on one of their outfits.

I have shopped with them a few times. I make my purchase and then go onto the online chat straight away and ask to cancel my membership. They'll try and get you to stay but just keep saying you want to cancel and they will do it. Then you don't need to worry about the monthly fee.

It's annoying but the leggings are decent and a total bargain on the introductory offer. I do prefer Sweaty Betty though. I doubt I'll bother with Fabletics again. Just shop the SB sales and use the discounts codes.

@dragonfliesandbees Thank you so much - that makes sense now! 😊

The absolute best are Halara. The material is amazing, I wear the 7/8thz SoCynched, not the bum lifting ones with the band under the bum cheeks (not tried those)
2 pairs for £38.95 they fit so nice and don't move, lovely smooth waistband

creamsnugjumper · 15/01/2025 22:03

Vinted SB leggings are my go to.

Hi, could you send me a link, I can’t find these. Thank you

Secretsout · 15/01/2025 23:19

I'm rubbish on posting on here but hopefully this will work. I have their app downloaded.

Ignore the last link as that's to the butt lifting ones with the band under the cheeks.

It's this design I wear. Best leggings I've ever had.

Do not go with fabletics. They feel great for a couple of wears and then the elastic band starts to weaken. I was so disappointed with them.

Katesboots · 29/01/2025 07:36

Off the back of recommendations on here I did buy Fabletics leggings and a few other bits from the introductory offer. I’ve worn and washed the leggings a few times and am impressed so far. I use them for yoga, Pilates and running.

tetleyhead · 02/02/2025 12:28

I am a complete short arse and I invested in SB Power 7/8 leggings in the January sales and I love them.

DD has some Gymshark leggings and they feel really thick and I have been impressed by how well they have washed despite being well worn by her so I'm tempted to try them in a short length.

Has anyone who has the SB 7/8 tried the short length Gymshark and report back on how the lengths compare?

PortiaWithNoBreaks · 02/02/2025 12:47

@tetleyhead I’ve bought some Gymshark shorter leggings but I returned them. I do t remember what style they were though.

The length was fine but I didn’t like the fabric, it just felt too bulky compared to SB. They were high waisted but came up to almost my bra so rolled over with any kind of bending and were strangely compressive at the waist but not on the abdomen. They felt a bit like thick winter tights.

I really like the consistent compression in the SB leggings. I’m 5’4” for reference

LividBlah · 02/02/2025 13:19

I lost a Peloton in my divorce but Peloton leggings (I like the Cadent pocket leggings, lovely soft fabric and two big side pockets) are absolutely the best.

I've recently bought a pair of SB in the sale and I don't like them anyway near as much. Why only one side pocket, and on the left? Ridiculous.

Thank you for this! I might just stick to SB

Deemaz · 10/03/2025 08:16

I swear by Halara. Made from thick fabric and they stay up. Prices are far more reasonable - wouldn’t be surprised if they were from the same factory as some of the brands mentioned. The seamless leggings are also great for the gym to.

they’ve also always got offers on.

QuartzIlikeit · 01/01/2025 11:54

I really like the m&s good move ones. Don't roll down, re-enforced gusset & so comfy. Only about £27 too

I really like them too. No transparency issues at all and the waist stays in place. They seem to hold/support everything really well, I don't get the wobbly bum feeling that I do in other leggings.

I'm short though, so maybe that's why they're not stretching to the point of transparency and the waistband isn't dragged downward.

Countrylife2002 · 10/03/2025 18:56

You can get SB power on Vinted.

i agree the quality must have gone down, I bought another power recently and it’s not nearly as good.

I’ve paid £20 for patterned and £40 for black.
