After doing this successfully now for 2 years I thought I'd start the 2020 thread

All welcome

Just did 7k. My first time doing more than 5k since I hurt my ankle and it felt so good.
I was meant to do my first 10K race tonight and I definitely could have done it if it were on.
I can’t believe how essential running feels to me now. Only started the C25K last September.

I was due to do Stratford Shakespeare half today, I did it last year and would have done it this year, although probably wouldn't have been as fast.

@ErrolTheDragon it's jumped around zigzag fashion when I ran across the park. All during the route it was showing time but zero km, so I kept it running and when I got home it filled in the gaps! I wonder if it's simply that more people are using it at the moment? I saw 20+ runners today plus cyclists, where normally it wouldn't be anywhere near that even on a sunny Sunday. Fitbit is also playing up and won't connect on my phone so maybe it's just me...

Stratford Shakespeare sounds like a nice half

Fullyhuman · 26/04/2020 17:31

Cycled 10 miles this weekend (3 yesterday, 7 today)

River valley again, 7.4km

amysaurus87 · 27/04/2020 20:20

33.73 miles of walking done this week.

492.65/1507.35.

Fully expecting the mile count to plummet this week with all the rain we have forecast! Hopefully I'll be able to get into the garage and use the treadmill for a bit.

Inniu · 28/04/2020 18:25

8k today. Finally getting back to normal.

6km

435.5/ 564.5

Still Strava issues: this time it measured a 6km run as 5.5... I've run it 100s of times before, plus said it had no segments when it has loads! Weird.

Anyone signing up for these virtual run challenges? I've just joined a May 100km one although it does rely on Strava data!!

I've just signed up to Walk four times a week for 4 weeks on Strava. I can't run anymore , and my ankle is playing up again at the moment. I've managed 80K walking this month so far , despite a few days rest. I am at 312Km walking this year so fairly near my end of April "target" of 334Km to make it 1000km for the year. Actually with the stuff I did in the gym before lock down I am there. Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 29/04/2020 19:26

Good stuff!Smile
The sun is out here again but DH was occupied working how to do zoom not too insecurely so we didn't get out. So 5 km on the rower.

Have run 2070km so far this year. Not much cycling or swimming due to Coronavirus.

ErrolTheDragon · 29/04/2020 21:37

Wow! ShockSmile

MadameF · 30/04/2020 06:22

Errol
I don't have very young children to look after or long commutes to work and I'm quite happy running in the dark in winter so it's easier for me to run than a lot of people.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/04/2020 10:38

@MadameF good grief, that's more than 15km a day every day. Your knees!

5.5km for me

April has been a good month for me, I've finally started increasing my mileage after injury last winter although I do have a limit and when I exceed it my hamstring twinges again. Currently 4 k average a day is about my max.

Impressed and envious Madame F

Getting back after an injury is such a relief thenewaverage.

Nice 5k in the cool and slightly wet for me. Much nicer than recent sunny days are there are far less people to avoid.

I have a 9 year old with special needs and have decided to get him running. This could be a long project but 2k done with him today.

ErrolTheDragon · 01/05/2020 17:53

That's great!

This thread has reminded me of something a primary teacher friend did. She organised a running club (just on school premises, I think) accumulated everyone's distances and plotted it on a Land's End to John O'Groats walking route - then did various assemblies about places they'd reached on it.
MadamF is well off the map already.Grin

7.2 km local walk now the rain has been and gone

MadameF · 02/05/2020 06:42

Errol in the last year I've run the equivalent distance of running to China Grin

That’s a great time, I was delighted with 59.10 this afternoon for 10K. Not a PB but my first 10K since I hurt my ankle.
