I am thinking that 10yoDD & 12yoDS both swam 5km with only water (to consume) on poolside. Took almost 3 hrs. They aren't amazing stamina athletes. 2x 8yr olds seem to swim 4km without anything but water on poolside, too.

OMG, minging alert. Concurrent with lanes sessions, some kind of distance swimmer in pool this morning (her lengths being counted by people in chairs). She had a dark fluid on poolside... and a banana. She half peeled banana, had a bite, & put it back on poolside to continue. Her banana was on edge of gently-lapping-water zone. Why not ask her counters to hold it? I'd be kicked out if I left a half-peeled banana on side during lanes session. Super Yuck.

Reading what everyone else eats/doesn't eat reminds me what my energy levels were like before I got anemic. I'll forget about all that until I've been treated. The GP requested various blood tests today.

I hope the iron tabs work quickly Minnie.

Back from my 1K. Getting my deltoids back!

My pool has women only at 9pm on a Monday night. I actually don't like that session, I think because it follows straight on from aqua fit and so there's quite a lot of women not interested in lane swimming (not a problem in itself obv) and I just want to plough up and down.

To be fair to the men, I guess just by being bigger and stronger it might feel like they're dominating the pool, when in fact their effort might just be the same as mine. We have the odd twat, but in general people are pretty well behaved. If it's busy, it's busy and it's a pain for all.

Regarding food and drink. I only swim for 25 mins so do anything different really (aside from making sure I don't eat right before).
I can run about 15 miles on a cup of tea.

Come on RoW, you must post links on thread to the swimsuits that you fancy so we can all comment (!)

I could run 15 miles if... Never. I change my mind. That's a Never!!

Well, I haven't seen any really - I thought you lot would help me!

I am tall and slim with tiny boobs.
The main issue I have is getting one long enough in the body.
Dunno - I'd like something with a bit of colour and good quality. It needs to be a sporty fit over the shoulders so they don't slip off.

Have you looked at Swimshop.
I like Zoggs, one of mine was indestructable. But im short, do dont know fit on long body.

(like) I said before, Uglies have been all the rage at my pool. All the 'serious' swimmers (Channel, club) used to wear this brand, which makes me think it must perform for money. Long body... maybe you need an actual shop to visit, like sports direct.

I’m the opposite body shape to Rights 😂so I’m of no help and really struggle to find any suits that fit short busty curvy women Grin that are designed to actually swim v sit by a pool in Hmm I struggled to get most sports wear to fit busty women obviously we don’t do any exercise...

Ooooh, the Uglies are really nice. Thanks for that.

The range at SD isn't great - all just a bit dull. I don't need a suit, I just want one!

I wear a Speedo Hydractive bikini to swim. I'm tall and slim but my boobs are a bit saggy. I find it holds things in well.

TheOrigRightsofwomen · 21/03/2019 07:37

Gosh, I don't think I've got the confidence to wear a bikini at the local pool.

More than comfortable wearing one on the beach.

Masters competition was yesterday. I came away with 4 medals but only because there was no one else in my age group Grin

But really pleased with my 100m FS time, two and a bit seconds under my target. Other events were just so so.

tiz, but that’s fantastic! Well done!!! Must have given you such a buzz!!!
I never tried bikini for the pool, never really occured to me. I like the comfort of a short leg swimsuit I suppose.
Although I have seen a lovely swimsuit on the Joules website with flip flops to match that I might have to have. Argh, fickle woman!!!

Hi! I just started back swimming two weeks ago, I'm a poor swimmer but trying. I'm 38 but creaky, dodgy knees and bad back, I can't believe how amazing I felt afterwards so going again just have to find times when kids are in school which is hard as the pool only seems to do it once a week.
Lljjk that's mad about the banana!!

This thread is inspiring!

I used to swim a lot (competitively) but spent the last decade having four kids and now I don't get to swim. I am carrying an extra 20 kilos and need to get back exercising.

Off to look at pool schedule and work it out x

Hello ahtel How old are your children? Do you have time in the day to yourself?

homer is yours quite a small pool? You'd think they'd have more lane swims than just once a week.

tiz WELL DONE! Out of interest what is your FS 100m time?

There were a lot of people older and faster there! The winning time overall was 1:01

I can't decide if it's inspiring or dispiriting

Wow speedy tiz well done 🥇
My DD 11yr did her first 50m FS under 40secs at a competition a couple of weeks ago, she was really pleased as she’s titchy for her age Smile she’s faster than me Grin.

TheOrigRightsofwomen it's the only time I don't have the kids, they do a lot of school classes during the week. Ironically I found out today they've put an extra one on so yay!!!

homer I wasn't questioning why you swim in the day, only asking about the size of your pool. While I fully support children learning to swim, I do think public pools should accommodate adults during the day - even if just a couple of lanes.

I also can only swim in the day as I'm a lone parent, but I am fortunate to work from home with great flexibility so can make the (inflexible) pool times work for me.
