Wow we filled old thread. I now have a Finis Duo. Still puzzling out best way to put music on it. :(

Commiserations rights it sucks when something you're trained hard for goes wrong. The event I did this weekend was poorly organised and we didn't know where we were running and ended in middle of boggy playing field my shoes were soaked.

TheMship that's amazing swimming. My DDs club say to train in two baggy costumes over the top then on race day pull on the super tight race suit and you will fly. They won't let them train in "suits" only for competition use. I guess your experience proves the science.

Thanks for the thread rights

I'm hoping to go swim tonight but still nursing that "coldie" feeling so not sure whether to risk it.

Thanks for the new thread Rights. Well done Mship! Hope you feel better, Tri. Did my swim this morning. Apparently a friend is joining the swim tomorrow. I'll let you know if she does!

I went for it as the lane was quiet and kept going for 40mins in the end Smile hope the "cold" stays away.

Well done Tri! It's hard to keep going when you're unwell.

My magic suit continues to perform. Over 2150m my average 100m pace today was 1:50.4, and without really trying I hit 7:19 on one of my 400's. Feels amazing.

I want a magic suit too MShip! I am so impressed that you have gone down two dress sizes. Absolutely brilliant.

Well done for keeping going Tri.

2112m done today in just under 41mins. My new challenge is to get my backstroke quicker as my Swimtag looks like this (yellow = backstroke, blue = front crawl).

That is annoying, Rights. Hope you can get back to it. There is a day I need to miss next week because DH is away for work.

Thanks. I should be able to.
It's just been busy with sorting out my new job, car service, DS1 not being around etc.

I've run lots though....always easier to fit that in.

Gosh you're fast, Avocado.

I took my lads to lanes last night. They are doing a distance challenge this weekend & they needed to get used to the goggles -- they never wear goggles in regular lessons.

It was fun (not). More like herding ferrets. "He splashed me! I don't like people splashing me!" said the little DS who now, it seems, cannot handle thumping swimmers either. Grrrr. Must separate them for the distance badge evening.

I only did about 12 lengths last night, but will have a proper swim today.

OH, and funny bit: our pool used to have lanes from 7-8pm on Thurs eve, but now no lanes then, just open swim. Last night... every single swimmer in the pool from 7:20 onwards was doing steady lengths. About 12 adults, plus my marauding monkeys luckily in a separate section so not driving the adults mad.

Sorry: that doesn't make sense without this info... I persuaded the pool to set up a single lane just for my lads b/c they needed practice for the distance swim but too young to to Adults Only lanes sessions. So my lads had a lane they were monkeying around in,while the adults who were doing very disciplined lengths didn't have lanes, although they all swam up and down like well-behaved yoyos! I wonder if pool will rethink lane session times on a Thursday.

Odd there were no lanes at all! Always min 2 at my pool.

I'm only 1.8 km away from finishing the Channel crossing challenge, will sneak out early tomorrow morning to finish it while DH and the kids have the usual Saturday morning movie and pancakes.

Today I tried 1 km straight and got my time down to 18:01. I love my magic suit.

Well done, Ship. (I like the idea of your movie and pancakes routine too!)

How are you feeling, Rights? I can't go swimming tomorrow as my husband is away with work. Got a bit of a scratchy throat so maybe that is a good thing … Our members' changing rooms are getting a refurb over the next 8 weeks so we are all in the main changing rooms and having the wrong coins (we've clung onto the old £1 for the lockers only to find the main changing room lockers have already had an upgrade to the new £1 coins) and forgetting shower gel (it comes provided in the members' changing room!). Gets everyone talking though …

I am swimming once a week at the moment - gone down to 4 days at work so swim on my day off.

I'm slow as hell and do a crap version of breaststroke, but that half an hour in the morning is bliss. I wish I could fit it in on other days too.

Get well soon, TriGirl.

Sounds like your weekly swim is really good, Bunch. Half an hour to yourself getting endorphins flowing is great!

Morning swimmers, can I tentatively join? Planning on adding at least a once per week swim to overall fitness regime. I used to swim a lot when (very much) younger but difficult to get out of the house now with the children to look after. Anyway once a week should be viable.
Is there a swim routine:programme people recommend to swim for fitness?
Any technology which is useful? Ways to count your lanes etc?
Someone recommended waterproof headphones and I think I would enjoy a podcast or music whilst swimming-any recommendations?
Right I'm doing it-off I go to the pool, quite looking forward to it!

Welcome minute

Sounds like you have realistic expectations; you're more likely to meet them and feel good rather than be too ambitious and feel bad.
