Hi guys

Mitchy, glad your calf is feeling better and yes you should be very grateful for the things that don't afflict you Wink

Edith that sounds awful you poor thing. Hope you can be kind to yourself for a few days.

Neeko good work!

I am adding three from a nice easy 5k last night with some running friends, it was super cold but I felt great afterwards. Unfortunately I woke up feeling rubbish so I am having a day on the sofa before picking up the children from school and skipping the gym. I have that awful guilt that I should be exercising though.

171.55

actiongirl1978 · 03/02/2015 12:03

Actually while I am on the sofa with nothing else to do, can anyone tell me how on earth I figure out what size running bra to get?

In real life I am a 32d but all the sports bras I have tried on in that size won't even do up! For the gym I wear a sweaty Betty stretchy compression bra which fit perfectly but doesn't have enough support for running. My running bra is a shock absorber I bought in 1999 and he label no long shows the size!

cinnamongreyhound · 03/02/2015 13:06

That's sounds really hideous EdithDickie Sad

Sorry to hear about your calf Mitchy1inge! One of my regualr running buddies struggles with her calves, she's a very tiptoey runner and you can see they are very defined. Glad you're feeling better today.

Hope you're not sore at all today Suzannewithaplan, I fell for the first time when running a couple of months away it was the next day that I felt stiff. My Dh has a seated calf machine that he built, doesn't use it much these days.

My sports bra is the same size as normal but is tough to do up actiongirl1978, it's underwired and from m&s (didn't get fitted by them as my experience there is terrible!).

4 snowy miles from my doggy run last night 175.55. So many very icey puddles at the start which slowed us down but was a good run, snow was very powdery. Can't believe the cheek of one of my friends who stopped for a breather at the top of a hill, when asked if she was ok she said 'let mum catch her breath' Shock

5madthings · 03/02/2015 13:10

Glad your calf is feeling better mitchy

Action re bras I am a 30 or 32g, but I go up to a 34 for my running bra, the shock absorber ultra run bra as they come up small!

I was going to do a quick 30 min run this am before dp went for work but it was too icy out! He won't be home toll after 7pm by which time it will be getting icy again.

School run is 2 miles each way, I have a three wheel pushchair so am going to stick madthing5 in that, run to collect Madthing4 who is on his bike, then detour at the park on the way back as it has a hill and I can do some hill sprints and laps of park whilst little two play, it's small enough I can still see them.

I figure my pace with the buggy will be slower but dd weighs about 16kg and then the.hill sprints so should be a good workout.

5madthings · 03/02/2015 13:15

And cinnamon not wanting to sound stalkerish but I think we have fb friend in common and both commented on a post re mileage in Jan! The reply made me wonder and I think.it's you. :)

cinnamongreyhound · 03/02/2015 13:53

Is it someone from this thread 5madthings? I often she people post on this persons fb posts and think I wonder if they are ........ from mn Grin

5madthings · 03/02/2015 14:00

Yes it's someone from.this thread. My.initials are SRP on fb, add me if you recognise me, profile pic is a lego model!

Suzannewithaplan · 03/02/2015 14:27

Thanks for your concern Cinnamon :) I consider myself very lucky to have gotten away with just an inconsequential bruise on one knee!

some unconscious protective mechanism kicked in and made me lay myself out relatively gently on the pavementConfused

emummy · 03/02/2015 14:45

2.7 from me this morning. Taking it easy as have a cold. Don't feel too awful but don't want to make it worse as dh away this week. Also there was a wee blizzard going on when I was out, turns out snow is quite sore when it hits your face at a hundred miles an hour!
actiongirl I used to wear a shock absorber in the same size as a normal bra then tried on a bigger one and found I could breathe again! Will stick with the bigger size from now on.
178.25

cinnamongreyhound · 03/02/2015 14:48

I should also say I think I know who Blatherskite is too, through fb and this person 5madthings Grin so perhaps some of my own stalking.

5madthings · 03/02/2015 15:03

:) yep I feel bad sort of fb stalking, but it's just nosiness, realising you have friends in common etc.

I bought something from a random fb selling page the other day, turns out the person I bought with is an old school friend of another of my fb friends.Who now lives in another ppart of the country and I know her via an online forum, tis a small world!

But I love seeing all my running friends fb updates on how they are doing and sharing my runs. I kbow some find it boring but hey Ho.

standingonlego · 03/02/2015 16:11

Ahhhh....when real life and MN collide Shock. I am so recognisable on this thread if you actually knew me in RL Grin But as this is virtually the only place I post no sweat - I NC for the tricky stuff :Wink

standingonlego · 03/02/2015 16:24

Back to bras....i have the panache sports one, it is fabulous
Smile I got measured up at bravissimo for my first one then Ebay bargains for other 2. Best one I have ever had

5madthings · 03/02/2015 17:06

3.7 from me so 181.95 I had madthing5 in the pushchair, Omg she is heavy and I should have checked that the tyres were pumped.up! But at least I got out and it was light. I may do an exercise Dvd this eve.

actiongirl1978 · 03/02/2015 17:06

thanks for all the bra help! I am truly sick of ordering four or five and none of them fitting. I tried on shock absorber in everysize I could think of but no luck. I am considering heading to a shop for a fitting but I dont live anywhere thats going to offer much more than shock absorber. oh well I'm sure i'll crack it.

well done to everyone who made it out in the snow and cold today, i'm feeling a bit better than this morning and considering a 10k in the morning followed by intervals with friends tomorrow evening, I think I may be misguided...

Neeko · 03/02/2015 17:13

I wear a shock absorber run bra that is a band up and a cup down from my usual size. It's still quite tight round the band but fine since I only wear it for an hour or two at a time and there's no bounce.

5madthings. Very impressed at the running with the buggy and the possible DVD later. Where do you find the energy?

I also think I'd be easily recognisable on MN but doubt anyone would care enough to look! Smile

5madthings · 03/02/2015 17:20

I feel.surprisingly Ok after the run with the buggy! Hence thinking about doing a Dvd!

I am recognisable on mnet, I refer to my.kids as the madthings on fb abd twitter, but I figured don't say anyhtjng online.that I wouldn't say in rl, so don't mind if I am recognised :)

twobambinos · 03/02/2015 17:34

Adding my 10 from earlier 191.95
5 madthings ur mad with the buggy ??
Mitchy I hope u feel better soon.
Sorry short and sweet post

runtothehills · 03/02/2015 18:34

Re bras I wear Panache one, like lego got it fitted at Bravissimo and I love it, on my third. I wear the same size as my usual bras.

Mitchy if you do go for the 1/2 suggest Ibuprofen before, during, and after (though don't OD) and see if you can get someone to tape it for you Wink. Good luck if you do go for it.

emummy I agree with the snow in the eyes thing. Aimed for forrest run today to stay away from the horizontal snow but it still stung like mad, think I might take my sunglasses next time which may look a tad silly in this weather. Managed quick 4 miles today, as had to get back home for packing. No running for the next week as going to Switzerland skiing Grin

Mayvis · 03/02/2015 18:37

A slow 2.14 from me. Just went to try new trainers. Almost lost one in the mud. It's a route u used to do in weeks 2-3 of c25k before the mud took over. I can't believe I can run it all now.

Had to stop on some country lanes and pull myself up into the hedgerows to avoid the cars. Sure that must have slowed me down.

Anyway, new total is 194.09

Tiredemma · 03/02/2015 19:24

197.24

with my 3.15 miles added

Anyone else read this?

EdithDickie · 03/02/2015 19:51

Thank you for the trail shoe recommendations. I have to go to bustling metropolis for work meeting tomorrow (genuinely quite excited to go to Bristol when you live in rural Cornwall!) and will hopefully have a bit of time to hit the shops.

Bra - I have hooge norks and go with a shock absorber in the same band size but a cup size down on my normal size. I find it reduces bounce to size down the cups as my boobs are rather.... ummmm.... un-firm these days!

No run for me today and eating LOADS of crap in the fit of excitement of being back on solid food again post dental work. Need to get a grip on the food and get a nice run done tomorrow. I have some lovely new short shorts for the Spring time running and my arse can't be hanging out of them!

Suzannewithaplan · 03/02/2015 19:52

?I've read other articles claiming that sustaining a high heart rate for prolonged periods of time can cause scarring in cardiac muscle which damages the heart.

Not much chance of me getting up to 7mph, that my flat out sprint speed ?Blush

Tiredemma · 03/02/2015 20:09

sorry- apologies if someone has already linked to this but its actually moved me to tears a bit (but i am sleep deprived)
