I am SO inspired by this woman! and wondering what, maybe less daring, plans and goals others have for the coming year?

Hiya mitchy

This year I have a mountain climb planned with some of my dc

10k in race for life instead of the 5k

And maybe a half marathon. Will see on that one. Need something else too as pretty much did all that this year as well. Love finding challenges to do but work/finances/family restricts me

Mitchy1nge · 29/12/2013 13:27

hello :) a half marathon would be a great goal, have you seen any in particular you like the look of? Envy of the mountain climb, I don't know why I live in East Anglia when it's so flat and farmed

To run a half marathon.
I did a 10k last year and now manage 10k runs once a week plus 2-3 5k runs so need a bigger challenge.

BiscuitsAreMyDownfall · 29/12/2013 15:26

I'm doing my first half marathon in May. I'm more than happy doing 10k so that's my main challenge. I'd also like to stick to a regular workout routine. Just 15 mins a day or something. I desperately need to tone up. I've downloaded an app that gives me exercises or I'm thinking about one of those 30 day challenges, just want to stick with it.

RubyLovesShopping · 29/12/2013 15:31

Biscuits which half are you doing in May?
I am looking at one in May or a flatter one in cot but bit put off by training in July August weather.

RubyLovesShopping · 29/12/2013 15:31

Oct not cot!

Fishandjam · 29/12/2013 15:33

To run 5k in less than 35 mins. I'm currently around 43 mins; as a PE dodger of many years standing, that's already more than I ever thought I'd manage!

Sleepwhenidie · 29/12/2013 15:35

Mine-get to brown belt in kickboxing (2 belts from where I am now) and manage 10 unassisted pull ups in one go - so far at 4 Grin.

Joules68 · 29/12/2013 16:02

I think there's a half marathon in Peterborough. Going to look into it. Or maybe the Milton Keynes one.

My longest run this year was in November when I did 11 miles. Took 2 1/2 hours tho! My trainer from bootcamp says I have endurance not speed.

Sirzy · 29/12/2013 16:08

To run a half marathon. At the moment I can do 5km at a push.

I am doing a 10k in May, and a half Marathon in September. Going to be tough but I will do it!

CMOTDibbler · 29/12/2013 16:09

In 2013, my sport goals were to run 5k and jump a small sj course. I did the jumping (though my ds tells everyone he jumped clear and I didn't) and ran a half marathon.

In 2014 I want to get my half marathon time down from 2'18, and do a sprint triathlon. The triathlon is a push as I've only just got the hang of one armed front crawl, but its going Ok. Not bothered about a time for that as I'll be slow in transition as I have to get my arm splint on to cycle

ShouldEAUldAcquaintanceBeForgo · 29/12/2013 17:30

I'm also doing my first half next year, in March. If that goes well then I might think about another later in the year but I'm crap at running in the summer.

If I'm feeling particularly reckless on the day, I might enter the ballot for a 2015 VLM place.

BiscuitsAreMyDownfall · 29/12/2013 17:36

Ruby my half is in Sunderland

UsedToBeNDP · 29/12/2013 17:41

Finish my 0-10k training (currently repeating wk6 of 14 after a festive break). Then improve my time from there.

Lazysuzanne · 29/12/2013 17:50

I'm aiming to put a new inner tube in the back wheel of my bike, if I can do that there's a good chance I'll actually get out on it!
( I like to set small realistic goals :o )

inamerrymuckingfuddle · 29/12/2013 18:02

Running 5k in 25 mins
Running 10k at all Hmm then in under an hour would be great!
biscuits I'm near you I think, s durham - I hadn't realised from 5:2 thread!

Dirtymistress · 29/12/2013 18:08

Running a half. Last time I did it was 2010 and there have been two babies since then.
Hello fellow northerners! I'm in Northumberland.

rosy71 · 29/12/2013 18:41

To run 5k in less than 30 minutes - I've been stuck on 31 point something for a while now.

To run the Race for Life.
I'm thinking about a 10k if I achieve my 5k goal. I'm currently running 6-7 k at weekends if I don't do the Park Run, so am building up to 10k slowly.

BiscuitsAreMyDownfall · 29/12/2013 19:24

Ooh I'm in Darlington, well just outside anyway.

brainwashed · 29/12/2013 19:33

To improve on my half marathon and marathon times. I've also signed up for cross fit starting in January!

inamerrymuckingfuddle · 29/12/2013 20:27

ooooh I"m about 12 miles north of darlington! We have a park run here which I did once Blush must get back into it

BiscuitsAreMyDownfall · 29/12/2013 20:45

I do the Parkrun in Darlo most weeks. I've volunteered a bit too. If I do nothing else all week I get myself there on a Saturday morning.

Mitchy1nge · 30/12/2013 20:31

you all sound so motivated - I particularly like lazysuzanne's approach Grin

my goal is to do some stuff that isn't running or cross training for running, maybe a martial arts class or a new dance class or both

OP posts:
Lazysuzanne · 31/12/2013 01:12

I've still not done it Mitchy, wish it was the front wheel not the back Blush

do ya have any particular style of martial art/dance in mind?

I do plan to focus more on strength training, and maybe learn to crochet for a bit of balance Wink

Joules68 · 31/12/2013 08:31

I did 3 peaks challenge this year, so as I've got all the gear ( with a bit of an idea) I'm taking my teens up snowdon to give them a taste for the mountains. I fell in love with them. None round here in e mids. We will be on holiday in Wales so thought they would like to give it a go with their old mum!
