I am SO inspired by this woman! and wondering what, maybe less daring, plans and goals others have for the coming year?

I cant
I have the wrong sort of legsConfused

PickledMoomin · 02/01/2014 20:24

I'd like to do a 10k.

This is going to sound ridiculous.. I'm late 20s and have 2 DC. I've never been fit but I've been 9 stone post DC until the last year when I've put on 1.5 stone. I really feel like I'll never be able to run 10k and have no idea where to start!

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 02/01/2014 20:38

My fairly vague goal is to run faster.

I like vague as it feels more achievableGrin

Weekly speed work for one of my runs is the plan. I truly hate running fast so it will be tough, but I know I can get faster than I am.

I've lost weight too and still have half a stone to go so that will make me faster.

No races on the cards at the moment.

CMOTDibbler · 02/01/2014 20:43

PickledMoomin - if you want to do it, you can. Download a Couch to 10k podcast series and it will take you from running for 60s to 60 minutes.
Last May I was a lifetime non runner - by September I was running a half marathon Smile

PickledMoomin · 02/01/2014 21:19

I was thinking of that CMOT. I keep seeing it praised on MN. As soon as I'm exercising, I'll sort my diet too.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 03/01/2014 10:35

Trucks - I like yogini now it doesn't hurt......careful though, I know someone who shattered both her knee caps doing it as she fell off the pole and didn't straighten her legs out so landed on her knees Shock

Butterfly is one of my fav moves and so much you can do from the extended version.......butterfly into flatline scorpoi into superman is a fab combo as you can take the superman into loads of things too :)

just updating my goals for a mid-month review, somehow ended up joining a belly dance performance group instead of taking up a martial art (odd things you do for the love of your friends part 746) but otherwise it still all about the running:

half marathon end of March, Edinburgh full end of May, Team Wolef 10k in September, Berlin marathon end September (please please please let me get a place without having to raise millions of pounds)

everyone else still on track?

CMOTDibbler · 15/01/2014 14:04

On course for my first HM of the year in March, entered another in May too. Swimming once a week and building my distance.

I forgot to put my riding target in, which is coping in the 'fast and furious' hack and jumping better than ds. Took first step in the hacking out confidence by going out with them when led by sensible instructor, and it went really well. My nerves coped with other peoples horses rearing and riding on the road, so onwards Smile

Mitchy1nge · 15/01/2014 14:07

oh good stuff, forgot about riding - I'd like to feel happy taking the buckslikefuck rodeo machine darling pony out on his own again

hello Mitch1nge I just came for a nosy on this thread and to log my team Wolef ohheckwhathaveIagreedto, bettergetorganisedandnotpanic training plan, and you are already here!

So back to 2014 :

  • 25 something ParkRun and get my 50 T-Shirt (PB currently 27.02)
  • Lose 1/2 a stone and eat much cleaner
  • Nail a 10k before Easter, and then work on improving my time ready for the Whipsnade Stampede 10k in June
  • Get stronger and able to do chin ups again]
  • be toughened up and ready for an epic time with team Wolef in September Grin
Standingonlego · 15/01/2014 18:14

I am intrigued by the pole fitness stuff on this thread though...!!!

Thistledew · 15/01/2014 18:24

I have set fitness goals this year, whilst already giving myself full permission not to meet them:

Be comfortable running 10k in > 1 hr

Run 5 k > 25 mins

Swim regularly and work on my speed 750m in less than 17 mins

Be fast enough to compete in a 4th cat cycle race

Sprint Triathlon in less than 1hr 30

  • If all these go to plan, maybe an Olympic distance triathlon.

On the other hand, DH and I have decided to start ttc this year, so this may all go to pot!

BiscuitsAreMyDownfall · 15/01/2014 19:17

Well I've not been running much, but I have been doing a small work out most days even if it's just my 30 day push up challenge. I sometimes add a 5 minute abs work out too.

I've also added a challenge to do Parkrun in less than 25 mins (PB is 25:44, but I struggle to get under 28 mins ATM)

Standingonlego · 15/01/2014 20:37

Biscuits come and join us on the parkrunners thread if you are not there already ;)

Notmorelego · 15/01/2014 21:52

To run 1000 miles by the end of the year. Thought it was impossible to start with but have broken it down to an average of 20 miles a week. With a couple of half marathons and 10ks to train for I can have weeks with more mileage and weeks with very little mileage (in theory). Not sure I can do this but two weeks in and I've done 47 miles!

ConfusedPixie · 22/01/2014 21:27

I'm inspired by you lot now. I've been thinking about this and my fitness goals aren't really exciting but I have some. I want to get swimming and have booked one to one lessons to start at the end of February. I want to stay walking again, at the start of 2013 I was walking 10+ miles every Saturday morning. I want to start walking around that every Sunday (only day off of work!)

I want to get a physio sorted through the doctor too and find out about what I should and shouldn't try wrt bad joints before I set other plans in stone!

Mitchy1nge · 23/01/2014 18:12

good luck pixie

and indeed everyone

ElvisJesusAndCocaCola · 31/01/2014 21:31

My first half marathon is in March and entered Nottingham marathon, which is in September.

I can run the half distance, aiming to reduce my time from 2.03.00 to anything under two hours.

Marathon, just hoping to get round!

I'd also like to tone more - plank challenge, perhaps.
