Hi everyone. I thought we could do with a new shiny thread.

All runners are welcome here :)

A massive well done to all runners this week. I managed to get out today and did 3.5 miles in 32 minutes. It made me feel slightly less guilty about missing parkrun on Saturday (although it is the first since August so not too bad).

Hello all, I've been reminded of this thread by my friends on the general running thread.
I did my second parkrun today, and I surprised myself by getting better than last week 28.14 Grin
Next week I WILL NOT walk up that vvv steep bit and try and get below 28mins.

Hope everybody has had lovely weather today like we have in the SW

Blatherskite · 08/03/2014 21:39

OhOne - I would highly recommend Fountains Abbey, it was gorgeous. My Brother lives near there so I'll ask him about other local ones for you though.

Carbs are eaten, hip is iced - I can't do anything else to prepare now, I've just got to run!

pennygallops · 09/03/2014 13:29

DS and I are planning on doing Fountains Abbey in a few weeks. I also want to do Lyme Park at some point.

ParkFun · 09/03/2014 13:38

Hi all, can I join please?

I'm usually a treadmill runner (I know, I know) but really want to start challenging myself outside a bit.

Anyway, did MK parkrun (hello blatherskite I see you're local) yesterday in 28:28 so feel that's a good starting point upon which to improve.

For those of you who go loads, roughly how quickly did you improve?

Blatherskite · 09/03/2014 15:29

Of course you can join ParkFun :) I was there yesterday. I didn't run because I was running today but I volunteered. I was the annoying person wandering round with the clipboard trying to get others to volunteer :)

Will you be back again?

ParkFun · 09/03/2014 17:24

I don't think I saw you, blatherskite, will look out for you next week if you're doing the same, or will you be running next week?

I will be back for sure. Want to come next week, though supposed to be taking the DC to the cinema at 10, DH might take them without me, though so I can improve on my time Grin

ParkFun · 09/03/2014 17:25

Blathers were you at the festival of running today? How did you get on?

Blatherskite · 09/03/2014 18:39

I'll be there ParkFun, I'm pretty much always there unless I'm ill or doing parkrun tourism :)

I was at the Festival of Running today. I ran the (and my first official) half marathon. I did it in 2:13:32 which is 2 seconds faster than my previous PB and damn good to say I've not run more than 7 miles since last November thanks to various illnesses and injuries so I'm rather pleased with myself. It's was really hot today too. About to go to the pub with others from my running club (the green one) to celebrate Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 09/03/2014 19:09

That's fab blatherskite and you worried you wouldnt do it!

How did you get on OhOneOhTwoOhThree?

ParkFun · 09/03/2014 19:21

That's a fantastic achievement blathers, well done!!! (ah, I know who the green runners are...wonder if we have some mutual friends in common)

Blatherskite · 10/03/2014 07:06

Probably ParkFun. I'm often shocked by how interconnected everyone in MK seems to be. I've never known anywhere like it! It's really nice.

I had a such a good weekend, I'm a bit sad that it's over now.

cinnamongreyhound · 10/03/2014 22:06

Our birthday photos :)

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 11/03/2014 21:52

Evening all! I thought I posted on Sunday night but either the ether ate my post or I'm imagining things!

cinnamon thank you for asking, the 10K was great, and I PB'd by 22 seconds (though I'm not changing my name this time Smile). I did 3 9 minute miles, then (as ever) my downfall was stopping for the loo which slowed me down and after that I never regained my pace. I ran mostly with my friend's 17 year old, so I was pleased I kept up with her Smile. Love your photos!

Well done Blathers, great stuff to do so well on so little training Smile

Welcome ParkFun - I should go and visit Blathers when the weather's better, we should have an MK meet-up.

Has anyone seen lego lately?

penny when are you thinking of doing Fountains Abbey? I'm up north the weekend after next (22nd?)

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 12/03/2014 18:58

As I have posted before to rant complain mention in passing the comments my local dog walkers make to me when I'm running (most of whom couldn't run for a bus), I thought I'd redress the balance with a nice story today. I ran past a toddler and his mum, and he called out - in one of those really loud little boy voices - "hello jogger". It was soooo cute Smile

(I said "hello little boy" in reply as I went past, I hope his Mum didn't think I was a complete nutter)

cinnamongreyhound · 13/03/2014 19:05

How lovely but 'hello runner' would have been better Wink. I don't like being told I jog, I run, even though technically by most things I've read you need to run around 8 min miles to be a runner.

Blatherskite · 14/03/2014 17:07

OhOne can you send me a link to the WOLeF run thread please? It's dropped off my active convos and I really need to catch up again. Do I need to send you money yet?

Just found a whole section in this months Women's Running about preparing for an obstacle run and I wanted to share too

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 14/03/2014 21:55

Wolef for Blathers.

Registration for September isn't open yet, so no need for cash.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 14/03/2014 23:11

Woop woop, 40 for me tomorrow (I like round numbers).

And tourism next weekend Smile.

Then a week off (not through choice), and volunteering the one after. Nothing like wishing your (parkrun) life away Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 15/03/2014 10:42

So glad I'm not in charge today!! As we were in the paper this week we've had quite a few new people but some were walking and only did one lap but came through the funnel as did a little boy who ran the last bit with his dad, one time keeper gave him a time and the other didn't. They were using the 101-200 tokens instead of 001-100 but I had to leave as dh was at work and I left my boys with neighbours, I did offer to go back with the boys if needed but I haven't heard anything. I also haven't got a result and as I'm sure I got a pb I would really like to get one!

jchocchip · 15/03/2014 14:50

Aargh, funnel management can be stressy!

Hi Cinnamon, I've not been on mumsnet for a while, just dropping in to say hi. We had a load of first timers today, one I said hi to before the start and asked if she had done c25k, which she had. She said she had looked at the finish times last week and knew she could do it, though had not run 5 k before. Beautiful day for a parkrun today.

I was pacing a friend again to get under the hour and I'm so proud she went sub 58 :) (you know who you are) Flowers Felt good today, had cycled to work for the first time this year and also walked/run 5k mid week. I will work on my pb soon, once I'm closer to my 100...

cinnamongreyhound · 15/03/2014 19:16

Got a pb, knocked 25 seconds off Shock. Feel like I'll never get another now!

cinnamongreyhound · 15/03/2014 19:17

Hi jchocchip, glad to hear you're still at it!

karatekimmi · 15/03/2014 21:30

haven't been on for a while, but still been parkrunning! I knocked almost 2 minutes of my PB with a pushchair, and it didn't even feel like effort (I was taking it easy as I have been poorly last week) I followed the 32.30 pacer and assumed he was just quite slow!!

thenightsky · 15/03/2014 22:36

Well happily I seem to be getting back to it after my injury back in Jan. I ran the whole thing today without walking once and the pain my back didn't kick in till I was 2 mins from the end. I'm getting my hopes up for a 10k in the summer now Grin

Standingonlego · 17/03/2014 22:26

Totally fallen off the running wagon - but planing to be back at park run on Saturday!!!
