Hi everyone. I thought we could do with a new shiny thread.

All runners are welcome here :)

A massive well done to all runners this week. I managed to get out today and did 3.5 miles in 32 minutes. It made me feel slightly less guilty about missing parkrun on Saturday (although it is the first since August so not too bad).

Of COURSE you would be great Blathers!

Eau - come to Bedford Grin! Which HM are you doing? cinnamon and I are doing one in a couple of weeks and am wondering if it's the same one (PM if you don't want to say here Smile)

EauRouge · 12/02/2014 17:38

It's not the same one, I'm going to be just up the busway from you. I'll try not to get lost and cross the wrong finish line Grin

Definitely up for a Bedford parkrun once spring has sprung.

Standingonlego · 12/02/2014 17:40

Buckingham - go for it. I have friends there who would go for a start and a definate tourist destination :) You would be awesome blathers, we all know it !!!!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 12/02/2014 18:22

Still none the wiser Eau!

EauRouge · 12/02/2014 18:27

Mine's just outside St Ives.

Blatherskite · 12/02/2014 20:53

Buckingham is about the same distance West from me as you are East OhOne About 47 minutes for you says Google. They've got a facebook page now. I'll invite you so that you can keep up to date. Hoping to wangle a chance to do the trial run again to add another to my Freedom page. Might actually make an inaugural run too!

I'll keep thinking about RD-ing. I think I'd like to do all of the other jobs first. Maybe if I help out a bit more, I'll feel a bit more confident. It's nice that my RD friend thinks I could do it.

cinnamongreyhound · 12/02/2014 21:20

You could Blatherskite, it's really not that hard. Results processing is easy, sending out pre-run emails and filling in volunteer rota is easy. As long as you know where your signs are kept/need to be put out you're fine. Give out bibs, give volunteers instructions of where to stand/what to press on stop watch/scanner and then have a little chat at the start and you're sorted :)

Blatherskite · 12/02/2014 21:58

But I'd be in charge and responsible

I know where the signs are kept/go. I can give out bibs and instructions - it's amazing how many people think you know what you're doing when you're wearing a 50 shirt! - and where people need to stand but how the scanners and timers work is not something I'm totally at ease with (see above timer failure) and I have studiously avoided learning how the results processing goes when friend has tried to show me in order not to get talked into being RD Wink

thefemaleJoshLyman · 12/02/2014 22:01

Come to Peterborough, Eau. Everyone is friendly and it is nice and flat.

cinnamongreyhound · 12/02/2014 22:10

Scanner= press one button, scan persons barcode then parkrun barcode :) you'll be great!

Blatherskite · 12/02/2014 22:20

I think I'd need "Runner then Position" tattooed on my wrist before I trusted myself - and I have a degree and was taking in and reeling back strings of strangers names when I was working at the marathons last week!

cinnamongreyhound · 13/02/2014 07:41

We had a scanning lady do it the wrong way one week, luckily I wasn't rd that week but it was sorted :)

EauRouge · 13/02/2014 09:43

I do like a flat course Grin The weather's not looking great for Saturday though.

I don't trust myself to do anything apart from marshalling!

Blatherskite · 13/02/2014 20:58

Someone did that the week I ran at Doncaster. It must have taken them hours to sort out!

slalomsuki · 14/02/2014 13:18

Anybody do park runs in Central Scotland. We are up for half term and fancy doing one or should I say DS and dd will done and I will volunteer.

Any suggestions?

pennygallops · 15/02/2014 08:09

I love to marshall and tail run - you get so see everyone running style, which is very interesting. There seems to be no perfect style. I did scan once, but I felt I bit under pressure to get it right.

It's very rainy today but we are still running. Better get ready...

thefemaleJoshLyman · 15/02/2014 08:10

Windy this morning, don't think my time will be great, if im not blown round!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 15/02/2014 08:11

Windy here and brightish - even a bit of blue sky Smile

EauRouge · 15/02/2014 08:27

Don't get too close to the lake just in case, Josh Grin

I'm not going today. It's only 2 weeks until my HM so I'll probably wait until after that.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 15/02/2014 08:29

The sky has gone very black in the last 5 minutes...

Blatherskite · 15/02/2014 08:34

No parkrun for me today. According to the doctor I have flu Sad

I feel really, really poorly, can see the rain lashing down through the window and I'm still missing it!

EauRouge · 15/02/2014 08:48

Hope you feel better soon, Blathers. Don't rush back, you'll just make yourself feel worse.

Blatherskite · 15/02/2014 08:57

I had to go back to the doctors yesterday for stronger painkillers. Back-to-back paracetamol and ibuprofen just weren't helping any more Sad I've never had proper flu before and didn't know how much it hurts. I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

Except maybe (D)H. I asked him to help with school drop offs yesterday but it might have made him slightly late for a meeting so he went to work and left me to do the drop offs in tears.

thenightsky · 15/02/2014 09:07

Oh blathers Sad That was a mean of him! Remember this next time he has man-flu.

Blatherskite · 15/02/2014 09:33

He also totally ignored Valentines day I usually get a card at least. I had nothing for him but I've been too sick to go shopping Sad
