Anyone fancy a new Insanity thread?

I'm going to start err soon ... Ordered it last night so hopefully it'll be here early next week.

Ill record everything on here to keep me accountable and it'd be great to have some company if anyone fancies giving it a go with me?

As for me , I'm not overweight - 9 stone 13 and size 8/ 10 but I'm really really super unfit and untoned. My tummy is not good ( understatement ) after two kids and I could probably fly to turkey with my bingo wings : /

So - my goals ... To tone up and build some muscle. To maybe drop half a stone or ten lbs. To reach some sort of level of fitness.

That'll do for now

Hola!

Day 9 done. God I hate the pure cardio. Have I noticed a difference yet? Maybe .. Weight wise it's a pound or so but I feel a bit more toned possibly. I could be imagining this! You?

TooWetToWoo · 02/10/2013 08:01

I doubt you're imagining it, it's pretty intense so it is feasible that you're starting to notice it Smile

I met up with a friend last night who I hadn't seen in a while and she commented straight away that I was looking more toned and she said it seemed like I had more energy too.

While we were talking, it transpired that we've both signed up for the pre-registration next year of Tough Mudder! So we're going to do it together now with her DP. Never in a million years would I have even thought about doing something like this, I think Insanity has addled my brain! Grin

CressidaMontgomery · 02/10/2013 11:04

What is tough mudder?!

I've done day one of couch to 5k this morning ( it's addled my brain too I think! - I need to pass a fitness test sometime in the next month so thought id give this a go. Found it fairly easy going on the whole but it got my heart rate up a bit! ) I'm going to attempt day 10 in about 20 mins )

Tough Mudder

It's a 10-12 mile crazy assault course. The link is some of the obstacles.

I've just done Max Plyo, really enjoyed it today as I pushed myself extra hard to work off last nights food excess. Think I'm gonna be a bit Sad when it's finished. Might have to do it again lol!

CressidaMontgomery · 02/10/2013 12:50

It's safe to say that I shan't be doing tough mudder Shock

Just completed day 10. Currently lying on the sofa zzzz

It's not until next year so plenty of time for me to train. You'll probably feel differently once you get to where I am. I was dreading month 2 so much but now I'm here I actually feel strong enough to do it. Don't get me wrong, I still take breaks and when it's the drills I can only do half the amount of push-ups but I'm getting there Smile

CressidaMontgomery · 02/10/2013 14:33

You're doing great!

Re month two , I'm already telling myself I'll just repeat month one : ) hopefully I'll be feeling stronger by then. I must admit, some things I do ok in and others ... Ugh! Useless at globe jumps and hate anything that means I have to get on the floor. I end up doing half press ups as a rule because a proper press up is just not happening.

Am still concentrating on eating properly which is definitely the key for me to have the energy to do all this! Today so far ...

2 x weetabix with half a banana, soya milk and flaxseeds

Chicken and rice with red peppers

Yogurt and other half of banana

Dinner will probably be goats cheese salad

I'm already thinking about Saturday when I've decided to have a glass of wine, a huge bar of chocolate and some fondant and cream that my other half makes Smile the day off a week re healthy eating is keeping me going !!

TooWetToWoo · 02/10/2013 20:26

I did a bootcamp tonight, it was a free session so thought I'd take advantageGrin

Really enjoyed it, and I felt really strong doing it too. Insanity is definitely doing its thing! Smile

CressidaMontgomery · 02/10/2013 21:43

I've just done a bit of hula hooping! I taught myself to do it a year ago and now I'm a whizz. It's very good for waist toning.

It's no boot camp though Grin

OP posts:
TooWetToWoo · 02/10/2013 21:51

Sounds good! Is it a special hoop or can I just use any?

CressidaMontgomery · 02/10/2013 22:54

I use a weighted one - anything else and it's not worth the effort. I think mine is a Davina one from Argos. Only a tenner. I you tubed a few demos and et voila ! I was hula hooping for 20 mins at a time within minutes Smile

TooWetToWoo · 03/10/2013 07:50

Sounds fun, will have a look out for one. I'm going to look for some cheap weights too. Really want to work on my upper body strength. Although I can do some push-ups, I want to be able to keep up with the drills when I do this again.

CressidaMontgomery · 03/10/2013 16:30

I really struggle with a press up too!

Day 11 done. Plus a 20 minute run. Food for today ...

Puffed rice with soya milk, chopped pear and yogurt

Whole meal bagel with quorn fillets and low fat cream cheese

Pear and yogurt

Sweet potato wedges, baked mushrooms, 2 x vegetarian sausages , goats cheese salad

Stuffed now!

I'm itching to death today!! Was bitten everywhere by mozzies last night doing the bootcampSad

Think I'm going to have to invest in some repellent since they clearly adore me!

Imwoodword · 03/10/2013 22:12

Cardio recovery for me today - I hate it! Just don't see the point in it to be honest, would prefer to be jumping around sweating Grin. But I was good and did it, DS1 was annoyed as he couldn't manage the balancing so couldn't join in.

TooWetToWoo · 03/10/2013 22:23

I had max recovery, I know what you mean about preferring to be getting a sweat on but I think it must be good for our bodies to have a bit of a break. TBF though, I still have to take a couple of breaks during recovery.

I'm thinking of doing a bootcamp again tomorrow Shock

Never in a million years would I have thought I'd be up for all this energetic palaver!

fatedtopretend · 04/10/2013 18:26

Evening, you are both doing really well by the sound of things Smile

I measured tonight-8lbs gone and 3 inches from my stomach!!

I have been running and juicing for 5 days along with insanity though (only running the 6 miles back from work so not too bad).

I noticed you were saying about tough mudder-I did it this year-it was amazing-highly recommend doing it.

TooWetToWoo · 04/10/2013 19:09

I'm quite excited for Tough Mudder. Been roped into another one now as well, called Rat Race Dirty Weekend. Pretty much the same but a bit longer I think and there's a rave afterwards :D

TooWetToWoo · 04/10/2013 19:14

That was supposed to be Grin helping organise a party tomorrow so was still on text mode!

fatedtopretend · 04/10/2013 19:34

Oooooh, tough mudder had a LOT of beer after, a rave after sounds even better-can you link it?!

TooWetToWoo · 04/10/2013 19:59

4th Fit Test done, having a breather before Max Interval!

Switch Kicks: 58 68 64 70

Didn't think I was going to do so well today, still feeling a bit delicate from the weekend (joint birthday+housewarming party Saturday daytime and a joint 30th party on Saturday night). Feeling quite proud of myself Smile

TooWetToWoo · 07/10/2013 11:53

Managed to snort a bead of sweat during floor switch kicks, ew! Then spotted the postie with a parcel so had to answer the door all sweaty and huffing+puffing away Blush

CressidaMontgomery · 08/10/2013 23:11

Hi all!

Still hanging in there. Day 16 tomorrow. I had a few bad days with it. I literally could not be bothered and there was a rather half hearted attempt made just so I could put the tick in the box. I also had a rather full on eating weekend which made me feel all sluggish . I came back hard at it today though! I've bought a polar ft heart rate monitor and that was good to use. Helped my focus.

My second fitness test results were pretty good. Definitely improvements all round although I'm still useless at press up type stuff

Really disappointed in myself today Sad proper half-assed effort today but my ankles are so sore. Think I over did it at bootcamp on Wed.

Think in going to get some ice packs, ibuprofen and some support bandages today. I'm so close to the end, a week on Sunday. Really don't want to fall at the last hurdle Sad
