Anyone fancy starting couch to 5k on 26/8?

I've done virtually no exercise since I left school, I'm now 27 Blush. I weigh over 14 stone and I'm horribly unfit. I have family history of heart disease and high blood pressure, and I've finally realised I drastically need to do something to improve my health and fitness. DH is running his second London marathon next year, and tbh I find it embarrassing that A) I weigh more than him and B) he can run 26 miles, I'd struggle to run 26metres without being breathless.

I'm running in the evenings after DCs have gone to bed, I'll do Monday, Weds/Thurs then again on Saturday. Anyone fancy joining me?

Yay Gin well done on the job! :)

Did W2 R1 yesterday and it was manageable. I'd had 2 days off and felt it IYSWIM. Still, managed it all. Legs felt quite tired and heavy yesterday but no aches today.

Shoes - very interesting. Have been thinking about getting gait analysis done as my friend said when she was running she developed an injury. Her physio said that any pre-existing weakness of posture etc will be brought out by running over a period of time. So I'm thinking it's better to get decent shoes to try and correct the problem.

One thing I'm disappointed with - I am eating SHITE at the minute. I thought I would have some magical transformation to healthy eating but if anything it's like my brain has said, 'Food free for all here!' :(

I just had a curry and i'm working my way through my second glass of wine. belches I may even have some ice cream later

soooo..... it seems W2 R1 starts tomorrow rather than tonight as planned Grin

However I was very good and swum a mile last night though on my 'non run day'.

well done everyone else though!

Sympathies west. I have just gobbled a huge slice of cake after dd refused to go to sleep until 8:45 so have also failed to do my planned run today. Try again tomorrow :)

I have been a pig today. Proper fat horrible pig. Tomorrow I will run... W2R3 and it better go easier than R2 cos I'm still aching from that one.

But we are forecast rain so it hopefully won't be as muggy.

I'm planning on doing week 2 run3 tomorrow tomorrow in the rain aswell gin

I think I'm boring my colleagues with my running tales - I'm very proud of myself! It doesn't help that several of them are very keen and experienced runners.

Tonight I'm enjoying my 2nd glass of wine!

I am going running today. Oh yes I am. Even though I had the night from hell sleep wise.

I went to Sweatshop to do my gait analysis.

Week 2 Run 2 completed. It was cold and drizzly but I almost enjoyed it. DS came with me on his bike, so I had someone to pant chat to and a bit of a distraction. We're debating going for a swim now.

Oh, and I bought my shoes in an independent shop IWish - not in Cardiff, sorry.

I'm eating shite too, Funny - but I've told myself it's one step at a time. First week - running. This week - drinking more water and less alcohol. Next week - maybe the diet will finally kick in.

Well, it's only turned out to be a beautifully sunny day. Was rather hoping for rain as it was so muggy and hot last time I ran. 8.30 run time as I'm going with a friend :-) will report back on progress... Lovely to hear everyone else's stories Grin

It's not going to happen he today.

Just got back from a&e with ds1 who's face is looking pretty grim ATM after a skate park accident.

DH has missed one thing he was planning to go to this evening and has disappeared to the pub now that I'm home.

I should be able to go tomorrow though.

Sorry to hear about DS, iwish - sounds nasty... Lets hope it looks worse than it actually is...

W2R3 done and it was much easier in the cooler weather :-) I think I actually could count myself as running in some bits instead of lurching...

Really want naice running shoes now!

Week five day two done. Ironically I found it easier than day one. In fact I even ran some bits. Well the last minute was definitely ran. Went out in the evening and it was quite nice.

I hope your son isn't in too bad a state IWish.Hmm

Week 2 run 3 done.

Think my 'd' s's have got in in for me though - ds2 took 1 1/2 hours to go to bed tonight so I didn't get out until 8.15pm. Another dark run but no rain luckily. Ds1's face is a real mess Sad

Bring on week 3 ................... Hmm

IWish - hope your DS feels better soon. Well done on getting out anyway.

Well done everyone else too. I'm so grateful for this thread - I don't think I'd still be going if it wasn't for this.

Just completed Week 2, Run 3 - another week finished!

W3R1 this evening. I'm doing it. Yes I am... Despite a whole day Gromit hunting in Bristol yesterday so my legs are quite tired now!

W2R3 done this evening - cannot believe I'm still plodding on with this. Have persuaded DP to start too and he's doing alternate nights so working quite well - we encourage one another to do it rather than finding something nice to do at home together.

Tentatively looking forward to wed and week 3... Can I really run for 3 minutes?!?

Hope your son is feeling better i wish

w3r1 done! I can run for 3 minutes Grin

Much easier now the hot weather has broken a bit, and luckily the rain had stopped so I didn't get wet. Roll on Wednesday for r2 and see if I can repeat the performance.

Well done gin. I'll be giving it a go tomorrow night. I'm on a Tuesday, Thursday, weekend schedule this week.

Ds is looking much less swollen today and the dentist couldn't find any damage so it looks like he's been lucky.

Finished week 5 yesterday. Have a bit of a cold coming so struggled at the end. Apart from that I didn't die Grin. I seem to remember week 6 day 1 was hard that week 5 day 3 for some reason....

You can all run for three minutes. So there.
