Right, lets find all the park runners we have on here. I did my first park run on sat.

I am very impressed with my time of 33.18 :) I am ridiculously pleased with myself.

So park runners, where are you?

Thanks IsThat although he might have jogged a bit behind me, or so I'm telling myself. Came 44th but the crowd wasn't that big, usually I'm about 60-70 and usually I'm not completely crap!

Goldendandelion · 17/08/2013 11:34

Well I did it! It was hard! There is a hill in the middle that killed me, but I got round Smile. Just got to wait for my time now

IsThatTrue · 17/08/2013 11:35

Well done golden we have a massive hill in the middle, it's not nice and I walk it

Well done baking, I felt the same after my first last week. I'm trying to loose weight and just thinking about everything I eat, and a lot of the time deciding I don't actually want it. I agree with the muscle/fat thing too, you'll probably notice your pants are looser before the scales change.
Imwoodward, a lot of volunteers at mine have kids with them. There are loads of kids at mine either volunteering or running. I got beaten by a lot of children today, including a child who looked about 3. He did cheat and got a piggy bank part way.
I ran 30 seconds faster than last week and came in at 390. I found it really hard going today for some reason, but all the people cheering me on really got me going.
I'm finding some of the really fast runners a bit scary, I've been doing it with the pram and sticking to the very edges of paths to give as much room as possible to everyone else, but people overtake me on both sides, even when I'm cornering. I'm really worried about clipping someone and making them fall. Maybe I need a T-shirt with 'beware pram runner' on the back.

IsThatTrue · 17/08/2013 12:08

mydaydream I find it harder/easier depending how well DS has slept the night before. Last night he was up 3 times feeding! I still got a parkrun pb though so not all bad. Well done running with the buggy. I found that really hard when I did it so I leave ds2 with DH if at all possible.

OP posts:
BellsaRinging · 17/08/2013 12:12

I've found you all! I love parkrun. Usually run with ds (8) which was a good excuse for a slow run on a saturday but as he gets quicker is rapidly turning into a game of catch me if you can!

pennygallops · 17/08/2013 13:45

I'm a parkrunner and I love, love, love it. On 24 runs, PB of 27 mins 5 sec. Currently on holiday and will have missed 5 parkruns by the time we get back and I have to say I am missing it. DS (10) is also on 24 runs, but has a much better PB than me. DD (now 9) has also started and is on 8. Occasionally I can get DH to run too!

Newrowsees · 17/08/2013 13:56

Hi all, you guys are lovely! And wasn't it a gorgeous morning!?

Really enjoyed my parkrun today, was a bit nervous at the start as it was my first solo run (so far I've run with friends and chatted for most of the way). But I managed a 25:06, just shy of my target! I think when I know the course a bit better I'll be able to judge my pace a bit more smartly. I got squarely beaten by a lady pushing a buggy, so I can't have been that speedy :)

Roll on next Saturday!!

Newrowsees · 17/08/2013 13:58

Baking, what else do you do apart from running? You might find that mixing in some weight training might help. Keep it up!

IsThatTrue · 17/08/2013 14:05

bells welcome. My dcs are completely uninterested in running but I'm hoping to change that.

penny you're nearly half way to your 50! Well done. I've only just started park running did number 3 today but I love it and was sad to miss last week when on holiday. I think I may be slightly addicted!

newrow Shock well done on your 25 minutes. I'm battling to get under 30, but hoping losing the weight (27lbs left to go) will help get my time down.

MelanieCheeks · 17/08/2013 15:08

I was marshalling at the back corner (ie making sure no-one cheated and took a short cut across the grass!)

And yes, I clapped, cheered, shouted "Good job! Well done! Nearly there!" etc as the runners went by.

IsThatTrue · 17/08/2013 16:25

Well my official time is 31.32 which is 2 minutes quicker than I did it last time so not quite where I wanted but I'm getting there!

melanie let me say thank you for all the runners you encouraged today. I must organise myself and volunteer.

OP posts:
Goldendandelion · 17/08/2013 17:13

My time was 32.39 which is quicker than I was expecting so I'm very happy with that.

IsThatTrue · 17/08/2013 17:32

Well done golden :)

OP posts:
TheMagicKeyCanFuckOff · 17/08/2013 17:33

Ooh, 24.26 for ne. Speed walking man got 22.36! Hw can people walk so fast?! I'm happy. Got in the 27s last time so I've improved.

mollycuddles · 17/08/2013 17:34

Well done both of you

IsThatTrue · 17/08/2013 18:37

themagickey that's a great improvement and a brilliant time. I think speed walking man must have super powers Grin

OP posts:
BIWI · 17/08/2013 18:43

Brilliant time, TheMagicKey! I can't imagine being able to run as quickly as that! (Mind you, a few months ago I couldn't imagine myself being able to run at all, so who knows ... Grin)

IsThatTrue · 17/08/2013 19:03

BIWI you're doing amazingly. Remember to look back where you've come from often and pat yourself on the back! :)

OP posts:
OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 17/08/2013 21:23

Some brilliant times here. Well done Grin.

I didn't do parkrun, but I ran 5k this evening in 30 mins and a few seconds. Quite a bit of it was against the wind in what felt like the build up to a thunderstorm.

Long one for me tomorrow - 15-18 miles . This will be my furthest ever - up until now my longest distance has been a half marathon.

IsThatTrue · 17/08/2013 21:25

ohone good luck on your long run. I always get a bit wobbly at 'furthest ever' runs. You'll be brilliant.

OP posts:
Iggity · 17/08/2013 21:30

I'm probably a bit late to this thread. I started running and doing parkrun at the beginning of 2013. I have ran about 25 so far (my home run is Black Park) but I am on holiday at moment so ended up taking part in one in Copenhagen this morning in pouring rain. My PB is 29:04.

melliebobs · 17/08/2013 21:32

Well done to everyone that ran today Smile hope we all got the times we wanted

Today I went back to the new one in my area. Very hilly very tough. But this week I ran all of it until the very end cos the finish is on a mammoth of a hill. It was good as I was battling with some old bloke who was old enough to be my dad. I'd pass him in the hills n he'd pass me in the flats. Was good to have that bit if competition.

Still waiting for my time though. Was only the 2nd one in this venue and the scanners had broke so they had to write down everyone's time and barcode Blush going to volunteer as the tail runner next week. Get some kudos for volunteering but also get a bit of a run too Smile

IsThatTrue · 17/08/2013 21:32

Welcome iggity I would love to do a foreign parkrun. Was the Copenhagen one lovely? You're halfway to your 50 t-shirt :)

OP posts:
IsThatTrue · 17/08/2013 21:34

mellie do tail runners litterally run at the back got the whole thing? I think there are some volunteer roles you can do before the run too and still run.
