Right, lets find all the park runners we have on here. I did my first park run on sat.

I am very impressed with my time of 33.18 :) I am ridiculously pleased with myself.

So park runners, where are you?

Argh, DD2 has been up all night shrieking again. Fortunately DH is home now so took his turn. Unfortunately that means he's now back in bed so no Parkrun for me today. I'll probably go out for a longer run later on. Good luck everyone that's parkrunning today!

I calculated what pace I'd need to run at to finish that 10k in 1hr 15mins and the slowest I could go would be 7.30 which is a whole minute slower than my usual I'm-going-slowly-because-I'm-going-a-long-way pace. So I might go for it.

BIWI · 10/08/2013 11:19

Sorry to barge in, but is anyone here up to entering for a half marathon on 6/10? World Child Cancer, the charity that Mumsnet's very own Woolly Huggers are supporting, are in desperate need of runners. They have four places which they need to fill - if they can't fill them, they will have to pay out for them.

Link here if you're interested!

Thank you!

BIWI · 10/08/2013 11:39

I misunderstood - they actually have 36 places that they have to fill, which they will have to pay for if they can't

MyDaydream · 10/08/2013 11:46

I just did my first park run! Came in at 44.41 so just under the time frame I'd set for myself. I did have to stop for 30 seconds half way round to see if I could get DS to stop crying!

EauRouge · 10/08/2013 13:10

Fantastic, well done! How did you find it?

BIWI- I don't think I'll have time to train for a half by then, but good luck getting the places filled. Have you tried any running forums? I bet you could find people on Fetch Everyone or The Running Bug.

BIWI · 10/08/2013 13:29

Well, it's really World Child Cancer's job to do that I think Grin I just responded to their urgent message on Twitter!

But I'll pass that suggestion on to them - good idea.

MyDaydream · 10/08/2013 14:46

It was more difficult than I expected, I really thought I'd be able to run more of it than I did but it felt amazing getting cheered over the finish. Can't wait for next week now, and my DP can't do it for a few weeks now so I don't have to run with the pram.

IsThatTrue · 10/08/2013 15:20

Hi mydaydream well done on your first run. It's hard with the buggy I did my one last week with the buggy and it was a lot harder than I thought!

eaurogue I think you'd be absolutely fine for a 10k, if I can you can :)

I didn't parkrun this week as I'm at my mums on holiday and there isn't one for about 20 miles :( I will be running 10k tomo though (would have been today but ds2 was up every hour last night with his bloody teeth).

How did everyone else do today? It was a bit cooler this week wasn't it?

OP posts:
thenightsky · 10/08/2013 16:01

I was 13 seconds slower this week, but I put it down to having awful backache Sad

I must force myself to do all the exercises the physio gave me, so I can run pain-free again.

Well done everyone else!

IsThatTrue · 10/08/2013 16:37

thenightsky what's causing your backache? 13seconds is nothing really it's only 2.6 seconds a kilometre try not to be too downhearted.

OP posts:
thenightsky · 10/08/2013 18:14

Back ache is due to trapped nerves in my spine which causes sciatica. I have to do exercises to relax my back muscles as they go into spasm sometimes.

YoniRanger · 10/08/2013 18:54

Hi all, in spite of feeling like a nauseous sack of spuds I managed a PB today.

I have Race the Train next week so it was a little confidence boost. Hopefully I won't be much slower than my goal of 3hrs!

IsThatTrue · 10/08/2013 19:02

thenightsky ouch, that sounds painful! Good on you for still getting up and running I would be on the soda eating malteasers

yoni well done on your pb! What is Race the Train? I've never heard of it.

OP posts:
melliebobs · 10/08/2013 19:08

I had a change of ParkRun this week and went to a park near me who's first one it was. Christ almighty it was bloody hilly! Did it in 35 mins though which aint a PB (normal course is a bit easier) and the end is on a bloody big hill too Blush

Tommorow I'm doing my first ever 10k. Bricking it

IsThatTrue · 10/08/2013 19:13

Well done on your hard parkrun melliebobs are you doing a 10k run or a race?

OP posts:
melliebobs · 10/08/2013 19:41

It's a race Blush

Started running with some kind of intent march this year. Done 13 Parkruns, joined a free running club and done 5 5k races so thought it was time to move on and have a stab at a 10k

YoniRanger · 10/08/2013 20:06

Isthatrue - Race the Train is a 14 mile cross country (ie uphillGrin) race in Tywyn Wales. The goal is to beat the steam train which takes about 1.45.

I'm not really in with a chance unless the train breaks. I'm just hoping not to die Grin

IsThatTrue · 11/08/2013 06:51

mellie good luck at your race! < waves Pom poms for mellie >

I started running in June and I'm doing my first 10k race on sept 15th Hmm I must be mental!

Gosh yoni that sounds intense! What day is it? I will be cheering you on virtually! I can't imagine running for more than an hour yet.

jchocchip · 11/08/2013 08:06

I volunteered yesterday and did scanning for first time which was fun! Three more weeks on anti inflamatories/ rest and then hopefully back running...

melliebobs · 11/08/2013 18:36

I survived and ran all of it. 66 mins give or take Smile

EauRouge · 11/08/2013 18:41

That's fantastic! Well done :)

IsThatTrue · 11/08/2013 19:11

Yay melliebobs well done! Not a bad time at all and a huge congratulations for running it all. You have great strength of character (how easy is it to just say 'oh I'll just walk for 30 seconds/1minute/2minutes'?)

Standingonlego · 11/08/2013 22:24

Excited parkrunner here...did my best time this year on Saturday!!! I think the 30 days shred may be working some parkrun magic...might be all those blinking lunges...

Well done mellie that is brilliant!!!!

Lovely to have some running company on here :)

mollycuddles · 11/08/2013 22:41

Parkrun changed my life
Did c25k in 2011 and started park running in July. Made some friends and then joined the running club they all went to. Did a marathon in May this year. 6 hours 30 but who cares I still did it
Have done 38 park runs. I want my 50 t shirt!!!
Have to do my share of volunteering and dh like to run too. Which is great ( but doesn't help me get to my 50)
My pb is 28.52 although marathon training and excessive carb loading means I'm off the pace and carrying some weight right now. Hope to get sub 30 again but Christmas. Maybe in time for my tshirt

mcmooncup · 11/08/2013 22:48

I'm a park runner too. I just love the pure enthusiasm of this amazing free event.

My PB is 25.15 which I did last year but yesterday was only 27.10. I want a sub-25 time in the next month. I'm on a mission.
