Right, lets find all the park runners we have on here. I did my first park run on sat.

I am very impressed with my time of 33.18 :) I am ridiculously pleased with myself.

So park runners, where are you?

IsThatTrue · 01/08/2013 22:05

Well I did my 8k run tonight (furthest ever, yippee!!!) in 53 minutes. I don't think that's too bad, especially as it was still 28 degrees here!

Who's running/volunteering this week? What's your aim if running? What's you're role if volunteering (of they let you know before the day)?

My aim is to complete it in under 32minutes, but I will be pushing ds2 in the buggy, so I have no idea if this is possible!

Well done IsThat. It was jolly hot last night wasn't it? My Garmin said it was 31 degrees when I went out.

I PB'd last week, not sure I will tomorrow. I finished work today for 2 weeks and am tucking into wine and takeaway Blush. Aiming for under 30 mins.

Good luck to you and your buggy!

EauRouge · 02/08/2013 20:06

Good luck for tomorrow, everyone. I'm marshalling at a brand new Parkrun! Hope it goes well, I think it'll be a pretty good turn out.

thenightsky · 02/08/2013 20:08

They mucked up my timing last week and knocked 10 mins off what I really did.

Looking forward to tomorrow as I seem to half-cured my bad low back pain by doing some gentle moves called Spinal Realignment technique that I found on youtube. Ran 2 miles with no pain yesterday Smile

IsThatTrue · 02/08/2013 23:54

ohone there's no harm in a takeaway with wine :) I did my first (and only so far) park run slightly hungover! Wink

nightsky I hope you manage the run with no pain. I haven't been running long but (touch wood) no injuries so far. No idea how I'd keep going if I did injure myself.

Good luck everyone running, and to you marshalling eaurouge we couldn't run without our volunteers! :)

I like marshalling, it's good fun. The DDs always get a picnic breakfast and help me point the runners in the right direction.

Today went really well, it was a great turn out and the course looks pretty fast. Might try it out myself next week! I now have the dilemma/luxury of choosing between two different parkruns every week.

IsThatTrue · 03/08/2013 11:21

Well I came in at just under 36 minutes. It was a lot harder than I was anticipating with the buggy as 3/4 was on grass not path and I'd never run with the buggy on grass before. I also had to walk some because the ground was so dry and cracked I couldn't safely navigate it at speed with the buggy.

I'm quite pleased with myself as I now realise my target time was completely unrealistic. I doubt I'll be taking the buggy out of choice though as I was just so worried about all the bumping with poor DS asleep. Although DS was rewarded with flapjack at the tea rooms after. :)

Well, I think I've done better this week. My back held out, which was a bonus and meant I could go a bit quicker (well it felt quicker). The faster people were coming past me a bit later than normal, so I guess that means I was faster. Looking foward to results later Grin

How did everyone else do?

thenightsky · 03/08/2013 21:51

I've not had an email with results today.... has anyone else heard how they did?

HeySoulSister · 03/08/2013 21:55

I've given up running for 2 weeks now

Missing it!!

HeySoulSister · 03/08/2013 21:58

Yes I have mapmyrun and run keeper

This time next week i will be en route to second mountain of my challenge, 3 peaks! Will have just gone up and down Ben Nevis ( we are allowing 6 hours for this) there is a Ben Nevis running club!!

No running til challenge is done as I don't want injuries!

IsThatTrue · 04/08/2013 01:21

nightsky I checked on my local parkrun website and found the results. The text came through an hour or so later.

My recorded time was 35.28

thenightsky · 04/08/2013 11:45

IsThatTrue Wow... I just check the website and my time was EXACTLY the same as yours! How uncanny Shock

IsThatTrue · 04/08/2013 18:30

Wow nightsky how odd, must be a good time if we both managed it! :)

Hello fellow parkrunners! Ran for the first time in ages on Saturday and remembered how awesome park run is!!! We have a flat-ish course with lots of runners....i was 151 this week....which was fairly respectable. A couple of running buddies just got their 50 T-shirts, I am very Envy but it is a great goal to aim for

IsThatTrue · 06/08/2013 13:52

Welcome standing I can't wait for a t shirt but I've only done 2 parkruns so far! I did my first run on holiday this morning. 6k along the beach. It was lovely but hot!

OP posts:
EauRouge · 06/08/2013 14:14

I do want a T shirt but I'd be nervous of wearing it- DH overtook someone wearing a 100 T shirt at the weekend and was really pleased with himself Grin

6k along the beach sounds lovely. I can't run this week because DH is away so I'm concentrating on doing some strength training instead. The DDs keep nicking my resistance band to play with though Hmm

IsThatTrue · 06/08/2013 14:53

My friend did a parkrun local to her holiday last week and she said that some of the people wearing 50s were doing it in 40odd minutes. Good on them for keeping at it I say.

Strava tells me I got a pb on 1mile, 2mikes and 5k this morning :) not too shabby!

OP posts:
IsThatTrue · 09/08/2013 04:58

I ran 10.4k last night in 1hr 6 mins 50 secs! I am feeling rather proud! Now to get that time to under an hour!

How is everyone else doing this week?

I'm on holiday and have managed 2/3 runs for the week so far. :)

OP posts:
EauRouge · 09/08/2013 08:27

That's fantastic! There's a 10k near me that I was thinking about entering but it's got a time limit of 1hr 15. How embarrassed would I be if I didn't manage it Blush I think I probably could but it's on NYE and if it's snowy then I go a lot slower.

DH is back from his trip so I'm going to Parkrun tomorrow. Think I'll try out the new one and see if I can get a PB. Unlikely though since DD2 is being a total bugger and has been up for the day at 5.30 every day this week Angry I am so bloody tired...

IsThatTrue · 09/08/2013 13:43

eaurogue you've got plenty of time to get your pace up before nye! Go for it, I bet you'd come in under 1hr 15. There are no parkruns near my mums (where we're on holiday) which is rubbish tbh so I'm just going to do a run, although may wait until the evening. Prob go for the 10k again. I hope dd sleeps better for you tonight. DS2 is sleeping really badly atm as he's in the same room as me, dd and ds1.

OP posts:
MyDaydream · 09/08/2013 20:23

I'm doing my first parkrun tomorrow, I've only just started running but I've looked at the website and I can keep pace with the slower runners doing a fast walk so hopefully won't make a fool of myself. I'll probably run it with DS though as my DP really wants to do it too.
Can I just ask how it works with the bar code and how I get it scanned?

EauRouge · 09/08/2013 20:39

You'll be fine, they have tailrunners so you'll never be last. Everyone is so encouraging.

With the barcode, you just keep hold of it until you've finished. When you go over the finishing line you're given a little plastic barcode. Then you just hand that and your paper barcode to whoever is doing the scanning. If you get stuck then the volunteers should be wearing hi-vis jackets so it's easy enough to find someone to help you out.

Have fun and good luck!

thenightsky · 09/08/2013 21:06

I've got DH to laminate my barcode. I've punched a hole in one corner so I can safety pin it to my shirt.

thenightsky · 09/08/2013 21:07

IsThatTrue What time are we going for tomorrow? Let's see if we can match again! Grin
