I became I follower of The Shred in June. My reasons are below. Share yours and let's shred together! I lost 5lbs my first week combining the DVD with WW.

I'm a size 16-18, 13st5lbs, 5'8", flabby, wobbly, unfit and desperate to shift the back fat that's making my new correctly sized bra lumpy.

I want my toddler to stop burying her face in my fat belly and blowing raspberries that make my boobs jiggle.

I want my DH to comment my nice arse again.

I want my double chin to melt away.

I want to walk up 5 flights of stairs without lactic acid burning my thighs and being out of breath.

I'm not going to stop until I'm size 12, under 11st and feel like I love my body again. I've hated my body for the last 13 years and I want to look in the mirror and feel good.

Shred is phase one. If I have to do all of Jillian's programmes then so be it.

I'm due to do Day 3 tomorrow.

I read something interesting on the Amazon reviews today. One of the reviews said that they found level 1 boring and someone suggested that she switched between levels, rather than doing level 1 steadily before progressing to L2, etc.

Feedback was that this works, you just do modified versions of the other levels until you are ready to increase the impact levels. Reviewers also said that this helps because you can work out more continuously, because you're not exercising the exact same muscles every day.

Anyone tried this? I'm on L1 but thinking of giving L2 a go tomorrow to see what happens.

GrimmaTheNome · 05/07/2013 09:20

Just done day 12. More or less - had to do the second set of 'military press and leg raise' without the weights.

Mrs B, that sounds like quite a good idea to me. Although having gone onto level 2 I don't particularly want to do level 1 again for a while!

icepole · 05/07/2013 10:37

Really like that idea Mrs B! Will try this. Going to switch between 1 and 2.

alarkaspree · 05/07/2013 16:15

I did my first day of level 3 today.

I have still only lost about a pound.

GrimmaTheNome · 05/07/2013 19:59

well done - I bet you've lost loads of fat and gained muscle though which is what really matters. What's level 3 like?

NoelHeadbands · 05/07/2013 22:01

Day 10 of level 1 completed, and I'm a bit pissed off; I seemed to struggle with it tonight, and I still look like a fat lump

PessimisticMissPiggy · 05/07/2013 22:05

Me too Noel I thought day 10 would be easy! I start level two tomorrow.

Me anorl MissPiggy. We can compare notes, IF I manage to do it, I feel weak as a kitten at the mo.

alarkaspree · 05/07/2013 23:51

Grimma thanks, I hope that is the case!

I don't think level 3 is significantly harder than level 2. It may sound worse but by the time you get there it's manageable. You have to do jumping jacks holding your weights...

NoelHeadbands · 06/07/2013 09:17

Jj's with weights Shock eek

Level 2 Day 1 completed here, and after yesterday's struggle I feel... triumphant...

I was expecting L2 to be Horrendous, and it was just Very Bad Grin

MrsBertMacklin · 06/07/2013 10:36

Morning! I got up early especially to complete L1 Day 3, as I wanted to get it done before the humidity levels get too crazy. All done.

The punching squats and bicycle crunches are still killing me and I am still struggling to do reverse crunches; with the latter, I'm finding it tricky to tell if I'm doing this properly.

Everything else was a lot easier today though; only stopped once and drunk 200ml of water, not a whole litre like Day 1 Smile

Oh and I've done a cheeky midweek weigh-in (my weigh day is Weds) - 2 frigging pounds lost since Wednesday!

PessimisticMissPiggy · 06/07/2013 12:17

noel yey! I'm not dreading it as much now.
MrsBert wow! Well done!

Level 2 planks are no fun Sad

Owww!

Aching like mad again after L2D1, thighs, arse and shoulders. Going to save Day 2 until tonight I think

MrsBertMacklin · 07/07/2013 13:17

L1D4 just done. I have one of those convertible bras and the left strap decided to ping off at the end of Circuit 2. Luckily only one jumping movement left at that point, so I did jump rope while holding my boobs Grin

mermaidbutmytailfelloff · 07/07/2013 17:01

I missed yesterday (no excuse except it was hot and I was exhausted) so did level 2 today as a penance.

It was easier on my sore calves actually so will go back to level 1 but replace the butt kicks with something from level 2 iyswim, the rest of it was really tough.....

MrsB I guess you just have to be glad you were at home rather then in a class when you had your pinging incident!
Noel the aches DO improve honest! Don't think it gets any easier though [despairing face emoticon]

PessimisticMissPiggy · 07/07/2013 20:28

I'm melting but about to do L2 D2.

MrsBertMacklin · 07/07/2013 22:19

Where's everyone else? Come on people, get it done while it's nice & cool and check-in!

NoelHeadbands · 07/07/2013 22:23

Day 12 done! Tortuous in this heat, hoping I sweated off a few extra ounces heh.

Still no visual differences, but I feel a lot better and stronger. And knackered

PessimisticMissPiggy · 07/07/2013 22:28

I did it tonight stripped to my sports bra and knickers. I'm feeling down after looking at my tummy whilst doing the plank moves.

I'm struggling to see any difference in my torso or legs but arms are getting toned.

Yes! I know what you mean, I did the same thing! My stomach just hangs there like a lump of cottage cheese Sad

It doesn't look that bad when I'm upright I don't think...I haven't been that distressed since the time I put a mirror on my lap and looked down at my face.

PessimisticMissPiggy · 07/07/2013 23:25

Cottage cheese is a great description!

I had Saturday off - no time - I had to get DD to her kids' sailing club in the morning, then she windsurfs in the afternoon and I did some sailing . I think my wetsuit went on over my legs a bit easier and I carried her board down singlehanded without having to rest. Then we had a quick turnaround to go to the walkabout theatre in Lancaster park. So not a couch potato rest day!

Day 13 on sunday, ok but I really can't do the military presses while standing on one leg. So I did it without weights and then did a couple of sets with weights but standing still afterwards

And then we went for a lovely picnic and walk not so much by a stream as in it...great till the end when my foot slipped and I rammed my big toe into a rock. I'll spare you the details. And then it turned out DH had lost the car key somewhere and I'd left the spare in the car - he and DD retraced the route but no joy. We were miles from anywhere, the RAC took 3 hours to turn up but then broke into the car for us in about 5 minutes.

So...£150 to replace the key and until the toenail falls off completely its limiting what I can do. I've just done day 14 but I couldn't do some of the moves so improvised or did something different. I think I may have to go back to level 1 as that doesn't require being on your toes nearly so much.

NoelHeadbands · 08/07/2013 10:28

Oh no Grimma that's shite Sad

Kudos for trying to carry on with an injury though. It's true, there is a lot of toe-work in L2

IWillDoItInAMinute · 08/07/2013 12:02

L1D3 completed at last!! But I'm really hot and sweaty. Tomorrow might try early/late to avoid the heat...although I suppose the sweat means extra calories off??

Back pain seems to have gone, foot pain for you though Grimma hope it heals up soon Flowers

I don't know about anyone else but I am suffering in the heat in a way I haven't since being 8 months pregnant. My thighs rub together, I have beads of sweat running down my back and cleavage TMI, sorry.

I have about 21lbs to shred. I would be at my pre-pregnancy weight then. Realistically I'd be happy with 14lbs. Then I would weigh the same as I did the last time I wore a dress in public!! Where does the time go??
