Does anyone want to join me. Its my third attempt started today.

The first time I got pregnant mid way through. Second time was the start of the year and it was too snowy and cold and I was ill.

So psyched myself up again.

I need some company.

So there are a few of us in the 20 minute club [orders round of vodkas].

Finished week 3 :) was cold and wet but I did it Grin. And a little faster than before (average over whole thing including warm up and cool down runs was 10.52 min/mile).

How do people rerun 4 minute miles? I know it's only elite athletes but how do they do it? Supercharged legs?

MirandaWest · 21/09/2012 09:36

Hope all the 20 minute runners do well today/tomorrow/over the weekend :)

HalleLouja · 21/09/2012 09:46

10.52 a mile was better than I was doing. I now need a fixed phone before I can check again but that is really good going.

I think it was because it was cold and wet and I wanted to get home Grin

AuntieBulgaria · 21/09/2012 11:18

Checking in after wk5r3! Still red faced and sweaty but surprised and pleased that it was ok. Fine actually. Easier than the 2 lots of 8 mins even. Like you Piprabbit, I had 2 days off, maybe that helps.

Annoyingly though, mapmyrun went nuts, probably due to an OS update. Usually it butts in twice, once at 1.6k and once at 3.2k to tell me how long I've been going and my average pace but today she wouldn't shut up - at one point she suggested I was running a kilometre in 2 minutes, which blatantly was cobblers. So i was distracted from at least 2 minutes of my run trying to turn her lying American nonsense off.

Lots of clear route and keep going vibes to the other 20 minute crew today. X x

MirandaWest · 21/09/2012 13:13

Well done :)

Am considering running again tomorrow as going to be a bit short on time next week for running during the day. Would be after DDs birthday party tomorrow morning (XH will then be taking DC to his house for the rest of the weekend) - was thinking I will probably be full of nervous energy still and using some physical energy will probably be a good thing Grin. Or I may just collapse in a small heap and moan gently.....potentially 11 six and seven year old girls for two hours - how hard can it be?

HalleLouja · 21/09/2012 16:46

We want the rain to go so I can run. That's all. Its really pouring so hopefully it calms down soon so I can go on my 20 minute run in the light.

20 minute run completed. Done and dusted. I survived. Just about.

OP posts:
AuntieBulgaria · 21/09/2012 19:10

Well done Halle - did you have to run in the rain?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/09/2012 19:12

I managed two lots of 8 minute-ish fairly easily yesterday and felt v proud of myself! I also ran alone for the first time - felt a bit strange but am really pleased that I was brave enough to do it.

HalleLouja · 21/09/2012 20:05

Well done Remus. Who have you been running with before?

I didn't have to run in the rain. It stopped just in time for me to run.

No pressure pip but you are next.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/09/2012 20:45

Dp. He's an experienced runner but has been recovering from an injury so has been happy to take me out v v slowly and carefully whilst he's not been fit enough to do his own thing properly!

piprabbit · 21/09/2012 22:36

Well done Auntie, Halle, Miranda and Remus.
I was wondering if counting made it out for her run today?

I think I'll have to run tomorrow to avoid the rain - I hope I don't let you down.

piprabbit · 22/09/2012 08:55

Done. Slowly!

HalleLouja · 22/09/2012 09:51

Whoop to running slowly.

AuntieBulgaria · 22/09/2012 12:18

High twenty!

LaurieFairyCake · 22/09/2012 14:17

I've just done the same run again but this time had a horrid tumble in the woods and bruised my knee terribly.

I finished my run, sobbed like a baby and am currently sitting with an ice pack on it and have taken ibuprofen.

this isn't easy.

Well done to all of you so far ahead, I'm hoping to be able to start week 3 soon - maybe even Monday Smile

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/09/2012 17:36

Oh no - poor you. Hope you're okay.

I managed to fall over in front of a beach full of people in the summer - my pride was hurt more than my hip (which also bloomin' hurt after being scraped all along the duck board!). Hope nobody bar the squirrels got to witness your fall.

HalleLouja · 22/09/2012 18:03

Well done Laurie. Falling is horrid. Was wondering how you were doing.

OP posts:
piprabbit · 22/09/2012 23:34

Falling must be such a shock, it's something that worries me (remembers last time I fell - rush hour near the exit from Liverpool St Blush.
I'm seriously impressed that you got up and finished your run - that's real determination.
Hopefully you'll get back out there when you feel better.

HalleLouja · 23/09/2012 08:45

I am always falling but not so much now I have a buggy to wheel around to keep me upright. Its horrid falling.

HalleLouja · 23/09/2012 19:47

Week 6 day 1 c'est complete. Not too bad. Was a bit scared after reading lots of blogs on the NHS health unlocked saying it was the hardest run of all. But wasn't as bad as week 5 day 3.

I went running in the rain - quite refreshing even if I look like a drowned rat. Obviously its the look of the season. I felt like I ran today rather than survived.

How are the rest of you?

OP posts:
piprabbit · 23/09/2012 20:56

Well done Halle.

I've been wondering when I will feel able to call myself a "runner", at the moment I still feel like I need to prove myself. Does running rather than surviving make you a runner?

HalleLouja · 23/09/2012 21:00

I am still surviving most of the time. In fact I considered giving up before the run thinking I would never be a runner. But I did it.
