Does anyone want to join me. Its my third attempt started today.

The first time I got pregnant mid way through. Second time was the start of the year and it was too snowy and cold and I was ill.

So psyched myself up again.

I need some company.

I managed to find a gap in the rain early this morning and went and did w6r1. It wasn't too bad - although I was very glad to stop.

MirandaWest · 24/09/2012 16:16

I did week 4 run 1 this morning. Was the hardest one yet although I was OK. Legs were quite achy afterwards.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/09/2012 18:21

Did two sets of 8 mins with relative ease y'day, with about 45 seconds walking in between. Tomorrow I'm supposed to be trying for 20 mins but would be pleased with 12-15!

countingdown · 25/09/2012 08:18

I have now been out for 2 20 minute runs! Repeated it because I walked twice the first time, only for about 30 seconds each time, but I thought I'd be as well to try it again. Second time was much easier.

Sounds like everyone is doing brilliantly. How do you think we are all going to get on when the weather becomes much more wintery? I'm dreading it, but am determined not to give up!

HalleLouja · 25/09/2012 18:09

Week 6 day 2 done. The first run was really hard but the second one ok. Ohmygod I have to run 25 minutes on Friday. It sounds too far.

AuntieBulgaria · 25/09/2012 18:33

I've also done w6r2 today. There was definitely a point when I had to use the Power of Mumsnet to spur me on.

Halle - are your run lengths all exactly the same as ours (I know you're not doing the NHS podcast)? it was 2x10 mins with a 3 minute gap in the middle today.

I'm also running again on Friday so will with you in red-faced spirit.

piprabbit · 25/09/2012 18:37

Don't tell me it's hard
I'm meant to be doing this tomorrow. Now I have the fear again.

HalleLouja · 25/09/2012 18:53

Mine was the same as yours Aunti. 2 x 10 minutes with a 3 minute breather / walking section.

Pip its doable just not pleasant. I did do it. The second lot went better I think. Though until my phone is fixed I won't be able to see how far I am going. I go on bridal paths etc if its light.

HalleLouja · 25/09/2012 18:55

I keep thinking I started this thread so need to keep going. Its the power of mumsnet. Was half tempted to keep posting anyway pretending I am still running if I had decided to stop Grin

I am really running honest. Now you lot will think I am making it up to keep you running.

Ha, I did chuckle at the thought of you just pretending you had been running, Halle! Which programme are you following? I think mine is called Ease into 5k. I did w6r2 yesterday and it was a 15minute run, 3 minute walk and then 10 minute run. Tomorrow I am running 25 minutes straight! To think that just a few weeks ago I found one minute difficult, and here I am about to run for 25 minutes!! I did spend the whole day yesterday dreading my run as the weather was awful, but the good weather fairies must have been looking out for me as there was no rain and the wind died down whilst I was out. I think I need to change my mindset though that if I do my run I can have a large glass of wine as a reward!!

MirandaWest · 26/09/2012 11:37

Did my week4 run 2. Was hard work again but I kept going :)

HalleLouja · 26/09/2012 13:23

I am following couch to 5k by cool runnings with the Rawbert Ullrey podcasts. My week 6 day 2 was 2 x 10 minute runs. But still have 25 minutes on Friday. am giving my body a break as am sore from pilates and make believe running yesterday.

HalleLouja · 26/09/2012 13:24

Well done Miranda it is tough but I like the fact you have a programme to follow that keeps you going even when you really really want to stop.

Today was my first run in the rain. I faffed about all morning, making excuses and waiting for a gap in the weather (I wear glasses and can't see if there is too much water on them) and finally headed out in a bit of drizzle.

The running was fine, I was able to let my mind wonder while I pottered along. However, I really stretched my legs for the final 60seconds and ran instead of jogging. I'm going to need to start running a bit faster as my total session today was just short of 3km.

Wandered home in an heavy downpour - which was actually quite pleasant - and straight into a hot shower.

Apologies - I seem to be channelling Pollyanna today.

MirandaWest · 27/09/2012 15:13

I;m also doing Cool Runnings with Rawbert. Can't work out how to go running tomorrow and then have children all this weekend. Maybe will run round and round very near our house (children are 7 and 8 so this would be OK). Might get bored though Grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/09/2012 19:35

I managed a straight 14 mins tonight. 20 mins eluded me but am still relatively pleased. I hadn't been since Sunday and I think that made it harder to get going.

HalleLouja · 27/09/2012 19:59

Whoop Remus. I am going tomorrow to hopefully run 25 minutes.

HalleLouja · 27/09/2012 20:00

I actually like running in the rain. [Saddo emoticon]

Laurie how are you after your fall?

OP posts:
piprabbit · 28/09/2012 00:34

Cheers for Miranda and Remus. Someone suggested I take my DCs on scooters with me when I went for a run - perhaps they are just foolhardy braver than me.

Good luck with your 25min tomorrow HalleLouja.

AuntieBulgaria · 28/09/2012 12:30

I got to the end of 25 mins today, Laura the podcast voice told me she was proud of me and I nearly burst into tears! :)

Mostly tears of exhaustion - I can't say I enjoyed it especially, but I'm fat and old and I can jog for 25 mins without stopping.

All power to everyone running today.

HalleLouja · 28/09/2012 12:34

Well done Auntie I think I might sob later. In pain. Will go at about 5 and then pick up the boy from after school club.

In awe of people doing 25 mins...

MirandaWest · 28/09/2012 18:54

I did my run :) so week 4 is over now. Slightly apprehensive about week 5 but will do my best next week.

DC did a combination of following me round as I ran (although DS said I was only jogging Hmm) and then getting bored and going back into the house. I was bored a little as going round the same little roads was a bit dull. Was about the same pace all three days and just over 3 miles for each day so doing OK I think.

HalleLouja · 28/09/2012 19:07

Went to go out and ipod is low on energy will get dc to bed and go out again.

OP posts:
HalleLouja · 28/09/2012 20:36

Ohmygod. I just ran for 25 minutes and could have easily kept going. I did stop at 25 minutes though. It might have been one of the best things I have ever done.

[collapses in a heap]
