Does anyone want to join me. Its my third attempt started today.

The first time I got pregnant mid way through. Second time was the start of the year and it was too snowy and cold and I was ill.

So psyched myself up again.

I need some company.

Oh pip that sounds horrible :(

piprabbit · 19/10/2012 13:18

Thanks everyone - I'm fine.
The police have just left - they were lovely and spent about an hour talking to me.
Basically a man came running up behind me and decided to grab and grope me for no other reason than he could. He wasn't a runner himself, so he must have decide to run after me to catch up. It was scary at the time, because I didn't know what else he might be planning.
Luckily I was able to just keep running.

But I don't think I can face doing any more early morning runs.

AuntieBulgaria · 19/10/2012 13:43

That's shocking and horrid. I'm furious for you Pip. Angry was anyone else about as a witness?

MirandaWest · 19/10/2012 14:03

Glad you're ok and that the police were nice to you. What a horrible man Angry

piprabbit · 19/10/2012 14:14

I'm not aware of any witnesses (no pedestrians around), but it was beside a busy road, with buses etc. so maybe the police will find someone who saw something.

HalleLouja · 19/10/2012 14:16

That is scary. I once had something similar happen and it really freaked me out for a long time.

I did my run - got much too hot but knocked a whole 5 seconds off my 5k PB to 28 min 10 sec. Will try to beat 28 minutes next week.

piprabbit · 19/10/2012 14:53

Applause for Miranda - congratulations.

HalleLouja · 19/10/2012 15:08

Well done Miranda.

I did wk9r1 today, the full 30 mins. I don't know how far I went but I kept going. Smile

piprabbit · 19/10/2012 18:49

Yeah Auntie - well done, that's brilliant.

MirandaWest · 19/10/2012 19:42

Well done Auntie :-)

kid · 19/10/2012 20:26

I'm really sorry to hear about your incident Pip, what a nasty piece of work to think he can just go around doing that Angry
That is the very reason why I am a bit scared of running on quite side streets, but I guess we can't guarantee thats safe either. I have only just started listening to my ipod on my walk to work, but I don't have it too loud. I prefer to still hear whats going on around me a little bit. My mum often says I am paranoid, I say I am careful.

I hope it doesn't stop you from running if thats what you want to do. I hope they catch the animal too.

kid · 19/10/2012 20:29

Well done to all of you who have done some great runs.

AuntieBulgaria · 21/10/2012 17:14

How are you today Piprabbit?

I did w9r2 and got an accurate tracking - only 4.5k in 30 mins for me, but this run felt better than the first one. Around 20 mins I really felt ok. So I'll stick to a similar pace for the next one and then try and pick it up a tiny bit.

piprabbit · 21/10/2012 17:29

Well done Auntie - that sounds like a great run, must be nice to find your comfort zone (even if it's only to think of ways of pushing yourself a little further).

I've not gone running today. I'm thinking about going tomorrow after the school run. I'm driving myself potty trying to think of routes to run which don't a) leave me vulnerable or b) involve going up a hill. I think I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and run my usual route at a different time. A friend suggested running together, but I'm a lot slower than her and I don't think either of us would enjoy it.

HalleLouja · 21/10/2012 21:44

Pip maybe you could ask your friend to go with you once - just to hold your hand. Though not literally. Just ask her to run slowly with you or she can go ahead and run back. Maybe it would be enough to get you going again.

I did week 9 day 1. I have been putting it off

OP posts:
HalleLouja · 21/10/2012 21:46

but actually it was ok. Did 5.5k in 42 minutes including warm up and cool down so getting there. Felt ok seeing as I hadn't run in nearly a week. I ended up running up a hill near the end and wasn't too bad. Was a mini hill but still a hill.

Well done everyone else.

Kid have we inspired you to start yet Grin?

kid · 21/10/2012 21:55

I will go and get the ipod to load the C25K on to. Then, I will be a step closer to starting it Grin

fraktion · 21/10/2012 22:08

I'm doing the breast cancer 10k one, which is good, but finding the time to run is really difficult.

HalleLouja · 21/10/2012 22:35

Go kid go. You know you want to. Warning. It does get addictive. So you might find yourself running in the rain.

OP posts:
kid · 21/10/2012 22:36

loaded onto ipod and I will charge it up tonight so its ready if I want it tomorrow.

HalleLouja · 21/10/2012 22:45

You know you want to. I don't really enjoy the run whilst doing it but love at it at the end.

OP posts:
kid · 21/10/2012 22:53

I feel like that with any exercise. I find a sense of achievement at the end though. I will let you know if I manage to get out tomorrow. I have to go to work during the day but there is always after work I suppose Grin
