Does anyone want to join me. Its my third attempt started today.

The first time I got pregnant mid way through. Second time was the start of the year and it was too snowy and cold and I was ill.

So psyched myself up again.

I need some company.

I would love to run 5km too. But am impressed at the moment I can run for 28 minutes without keeling over.

I've just looked at the week 9 podcast. I'm a bit disappointed that w9r3 doesn't have a podcast all of it's own - with special celebratory music and a personal message from the Queen.

HalleLouja · 16/10/2012 10:13

Well mumsnet can be the queen and do a royal wave! We need a royal wave emoticon!

Checking in at the end of wk8 too. Had to run round the city centre in my lunch hour and would dearly like a nap under my desk now.

I was jogging on the spot at traffic lights so my average speed didn't drop but as I wasn't moving, it wouldn't have counted anyway - what a plonker!

Week 9 here we come.

Other people out there - you really can do it!

I'm building up my fitness by using 30 day shred. I'm hoping I can build up to starting c25k. I do like reading about how others are getting on, it gives me the courage to do it myself in the near future.

piprabbit · 16/10/2012 21:22

You'll get there kid, when you are good and ready.
I started off doing Zumba, then going for walks. Then I downloaded the podcasts and they sat on my PC for a few months. Meanwhile the walks got longer and then I added in a very little jog as I headed homewards. Then I loaded the podcasts from my PC onto my iPod and they sat on there for a few more weeks. I think I might have taken the idea of 'baby steps' to the extreme Grin.

kid · 16/10/2012 21:51

baby steps sound like the perfect way to go!
I have an ipod shuffle but there isn't any point in loading the podcasts onto that as you can't see whats playing. Maybe I'll borrow my ipod touch from DS so I can load them onto that.

I tested the dog this morning running on a lead. Anyone would think he was a giant rabbit by the way he jumped along. He had no idea why I was running but I think he thought it was a great game.

I'd love to be able to get him running along side me on the lead until I can trust him to run alongside me off lead. But, thats a long way off at the moment. Still, I can dream.

MirandaWest · 17/10/2012 07:33

It is sounding windy out there. Am not feeling motivated to run once I've taken DC to school.....but I hopefully will and will try and have the wind behind me at least some of rhe time Grin

MirandaWest · 17/10/2012 09:44

Did my run :) Went through a wood and luckily found my way out the other side Grin.

And kept going past 25 minutes again - did 5k in 28 min 15 seconds :)

Running with Nike plus and my music worked well - I set Nike plus to 25 minutes so it told me every 5 minutes and at half way point and I preferred my music. Am liking this running thing again :)

kid · 17/10/2012 17:46

I took my dog to the park tonight and decided to try a little bit of a run with him. Now, bare in mind that I wasn't wearing my gym kit, I managed to run around 1/2 of the very big park, and walk the other 1/2. So, although I didn't officially do C25k, I have ventured out in public to run and it wasn't actually that bad.
I do tire so easily when running though.

I was told by a friend that when you run, you should still be able to have a conversation. If you couldn't, it means you are running too fast. I would guess that if I was to run at a speed where I could still chat, that would be classed as walking for me!

MirandaWest · 17/10/2012 17:53

Well done :)

I'm not sure I could have a conversation while I'm running but I've never tried Grin

HalleLouja · 17/10/2012 18:34

There is a reason I go running by myself mainly to avoid conversation...

OP posts:
MirandaWest · 17/10/2012 19:24

Exactly Grin. I really can't understand running with someone else but I am basically antisocial. Also what happens if you want to run at different speeds?

HalleLouja · 17/10/2012 20:59

Ended up having a nap with DS rather than running. Must be shattered.

OP posts:
piprabbit · 17/10/2012 21:16

Does gasping 'Thanks' at the dog owners, who hang on to their dogs at the sight of me, count as conversation? It's about all I can manage.

Well done on running in public kid, and congratulations to miranda on a very impressive time and distance.

I didn't run today - feeling a bit wiped out at the moment. My next chance to run will be Friday assuming I'm not going down with something.

AuntieBulgaria · 18/10/2012 20:41

Wow, well done Miranda, you must have been chuffed with that. Sounds like running suits you.

countingdown · 18/10/2012 20:43

Sounds like everyone is doing brilliantly. I've ran 30 mins 3 times now, whilst I'm not finding it easy I am getting there and keep telling myself that 2 months ago I found running for 1 minute to be reallt hard.

I downloaded www.amazon.co.uk/101-Running-Songs/dp/B002NXNZRC today and found having new music to listen to gave me a much needed boost!

HalleLouja · 18/10/2012 21:33

I haven't done any 30 minutes - will try tomorrow or the weekend. But did do an exercise class instead. So not totally lazy.

Movingforward123 · 19/10/2012 07:36

Hi everyone,

Well the last tone I ran was last Wednesday and havnt run since!

I have a sore toe and don't feel in the mood to run right now!

I have just booked into a zumba and Pilates class for this morning thought!

I don't know why I don't just go running instead, maybe I should, what do you all think? Confused

piprabbit · 19/10/2012 08:21

I did my first 30min run today.
However I was sexually assaulted by a man at about 23 mins, so I'm having to rethink my whole approach to running Sad.

TBH I am beyond furious that some random tosser thinks his inadequate impulse control takes priority over my right to run around my neighbourhood t 7am.

HalleLouja · 19/10/2012 08:21

I am going running later. Work up early and did some work so now can go running.

OP posts:
countingdown · 19/10/2012 11:13

pip are you ok? What on earth happened?

HalleLouja · 19/10/2012 11:21

Oh my god pip. I missed that as we cross posted. Have you gone to the police?

[Sending lots of hugs your way].
