Does anyone want to join me. Its my third attempt started today.

The first time I got pregnant mid way through. Second time was the start of the year and it was too snowy and cold and I was ill.

So psyched myself up again.

I need some company.

Moving, 5 mins running is a real achievement, well done. I felt exactly as you do. If you read my post above from 3rd Sept, you'll see I was terrified at the idea of running for 3mins but today I ran for 28mins.

Halle - well done, 4 more runs and you'll be a graduate! It's good to hear that you found today easier than last week.

TerrysNo2 · 10/10/2012 23:31

Evening all!

w2d2 completed today - 4.98km

The thought of 5 minutes of running is scaring me moving so 28 mins is unthinkable at the moment pip. Can you reassure me that its not so bad??

kid hurry up and join us so we have some company when the w7 and 8'ers graduate!! Wink

piprabbit · 11/10/2012 00:38

Fab job Terrys - you are running much, much further than I am, so I'm sure you'll be fine doing the longer runs. You have the choice to slow down a little if you need to - if I slow down, I cease moving altogether.

TerrysNo2 · 11/10/2012 13:41

Has anyone else run more often than the 3 x a week as the programme suggests. I'm feeling a bit lethargic today so am considering a run this evening. (that and I need to remove the guilt associated with eating yet another salted caramel Grin)

MirandaWest · 12/10/2012 08:24

Have just done my 25 min run without stopping Grin woo hoo Grin. And overall pace for whole thing got quicker - was 9 min 39 per mile over the 35 min including warm up and cool down :)

Will be cycling in about an hours time - think ill deserve a chrunchie today Grin

HalleLouja · 12/10/2012 08:45

Well done Miranda.

Yesterday I did an exercise class that my friend runs. It was fine actually and did some weights which was really good to do.

Am going to do week 8 day 2 today. Then tomorrow I will rest my body....

OP posts:
piprabbit · 12/10/2012 09:14

Well done Miranda - enjoy your Crunchie Grin

HalleLouja · 12/10/2012 20:57

I did my week 8 day 2 run. Managed to go a bit further than I did the other day. So that is progress I suppose.

Its Friday night and I am having a curry. Wine

OP posts:
piprabbit · 13/10/2012 08:45

Hope the curry and wine was good.

I did my w8r2 this morning. It was nice to be running in daylight for a change, but it was very hard work. I struggled to get into a rhythm. However I did finish very slightly further down the road which proves that I managed to at least maintain my speed.

MirandaWest · 13/10/2012 08:55

Well done to the week 8 run 2 people :) you're nearly up to week 9 :)

Part of me wants to go out running but the other part is happy to still be in bed Grin

AuntieBulgaria · 13/10/2012 16:23

Well done Piprabbit and Halle,

I got ten mins into w8r2 and abandoned it. I think I set off too quickly. I'm going to try again tomorrow. Feel a bit deflated. DH is away so its tricky to find time to run too.

still, got my fluoro jacket from aldi so am crap at running but highly visible.

piprabbit · 13/10/2012 16:43

Hi Auntie, sorry it didn't work out today, hope it goes better tomorrow. You've done it once so I'm sure you'll get there.

I've just got some hi-vis tape to iron on my running jacket. I was starting to feel a bit vulnerable running in the dark.

HalleLouja · 13/10/2012 19:57

Good luck for tomorrow auntie you can do it. We all have times its really hard. I find the first few minutes the worst and if I keep soldiering on it gets easier. That's just me.

AuntieBulgaria · 14/10/2012 21:46

Thank you for the encouragement ladies. This thread really does help me get out there and do it.

A lovely clear morning, a new place to run as Mum and Dad looked after DD and I hoofed it round their village. In your face W8r2.

I've just spent ten minutes scrolling back through the thread - we've been running for 2 months! LaurieFairyCake and Remus are you still out there?

HalleLouja · 14/10/2012 21:48

I am finishing week 8 tomorrow. Did some tagging of items for the NNS tonight so will go out tomorrow. Did go for a long walk around the zoo today. So haven't been totally lazy.

OP posts:
piprabbit · 14/10/2012 21:49

Yeah for Auntie - very pleased you did your run!

HalleLouja · 14/10/2012 21:51

Well done auntie. Its the power of mumsnet. The reason I started this thread. I knew with mn behind me I would have to finish this time.

I was wondering where Remus and Laurie were. I hope you are still ok.

Also newbies how are you doing? Please post I like having you here - I will keep posting once I graduate - unless you all get bored.

OP posts:
MirandaWest · 14/10/2012 22:27

Well done Auntie :)

I will be doing w7r1 tomorrow. Feels a long time since I did my run on Friday (and have had a lazy weekend too). Am helping in DS's class and then will go running.

MirandaWest · 15/10/2012 11:43

Something weird happened to me. Was running along semi cheerfully (was raining and a bit cold) and coming up to 25 minutes. Something inside me said "you can keep going" and so I did Grin and ran through all the cooling down bit too so ran for 30 minutes. And I know I did further than 5k as I know roughly how far I walked at the beginning and total was mire than 5k more than that.

Might ditch rawbert (sorry rawbert) on Wednesday and just do a 5k run with my own music as I want to know how quickly I can do it!

Am sitting around with wet hair now when I need to go out and do things Hmm. Will sit for just a little longer....

piprabbit · 15/10/2012 13:25

Ooh Miranda - so glad you enjoyed your (extended) run.

I finished week 8 today, but I'm still finding it hard work. I'm quite excited about starting week 9 now Grin.

HalleLouja · 15/10/2012 21:16

Week 8 finished. Not the greatest run ever but equalled week 8 day 2. Was happy for it to end.

OP posts:
MirandaWest · 15/10/2012 22:39

Well done HalleLouja - only one week to go now :)

piprabbit · 15/10/2012 22:44

Well done Halle.
We're so very near then end now - I think I'll need some new objectives to keep me running in week 10 and beyond.

HalleLouja · 16/10/2012 07:32

Pip I will need some other goal but to begin with it will be to run 5k. Have been getting there including warm up and cool down. When I get to 5k am going to do bridge to 10k I think.

OP posts:
piprabbit · 16/10/2012 09:16

10K would be amazing.
I'll be working towards doing 5k (rather than just running for 30mins) too. I might look at the NHS podcasts on running faster. I don't have a lot of time to run for a longer session, so I need to squeeze more distance into the same amount of time. I'd like to find a 5K race in early spring to take part in.

That and having my own playlist to run with Grin.
