Does anyone want to join me. Its my third attempt started today.

The first time I got pregnant mid way through. Second time was the start of the year and it was too snowy and cold and I was ill.

So psyched myself up again.

I need some company.

Yay :) Well done Halle :)

TerrysNo2 · 08/10/2012 06:58

Well done Halle Smile

Just finished w2d1 and done 4.7km, I think my running speed slowed down from last week, I always did prefer sprinting to jogging but I don't think I will keep up that pace when its just running.

I am using the Couchto5k app, it cost £1.26 but its very good, it orders me through my workout and then tells me my map and the pace I was running and then uploads it to the active.com trainer.

TerrysNo2 · 08/10/2012 06:59

Just can't summon up the energy to dry my hair and get ready for work!! Enjoying the calm before the 'getting me and two kids ready storm' Smile

MirandaWest · 08/10/2012 08:12

Well done Terrys :)

I just did week 6 run 1 and am comfortably collapsed for a few minutes Grin. Did 3.5 miles altogether which feels quite good. Ended up running a but more than I intended as 8 minute run ended but there were hoards of teenagers walking to their school bus and running past was better than trying to do my "brisk walk" which inevitably turns into an amble while I try to co ordinate Grin.

piprabbit · 08/10/2012 09:42

Well done Halle and Terrys - so glad you both managed to get out there and have good runs.

I'm can't quite believe that I've done 4 runs of 25mins in a row and that I'm about to start week 8. I'm nowhere near running 5km, I seem to be at about 3.5km. I think I need to forget about distance for the time being, finish doing the 9 weeks and then work on building up my speed as my next goal after C25K.

Movingforward123 · 08/10/2012 10:44

Hey everyone Smile

I finished week 3 last week and should have started week 4 today but feel knackard so will be starting on wednesday instead!

Not looking forward to running 5mins at a time as I never have before!

I have also dropped my speed on my running as I have to run for longer, but I think that's ok!

I'm just wondering what difference others have noticed in their figures from running? My legs seem to have a little less cellulite but hoping to hear others have noticed bigger differences as I'm not sure if the running is just improving my stamina and not my body! As that really needs improving too Grin

piprabbit · 08/10/2012 11:02

Well done Moving - good luck on Wednesday, you'll be fine with the 5mins - honestly.

I'm not losing weight, but my body is changing. I've lost about 4 inches off each of my thighs and the horrid veins on one thigh have disappeared from sight. My waist is a bit trimmer and my bum is less wobbly. My upper arms and back are also less wobbly - not sure if that's running related or not.

Oh, and the skin on my face is looking a lot smoother with fewer open pores - I have a horrible feeling that all the regular sweating is shifting impurities more effectively [slightly gross emoticon].

The best bit though is having more energy and stamina.

HalleLouja · 08/10/2012 11:48

Loving the fact that sweating might be improving pip's skin.

Five minutes is not that bad. Once you start putting longer runs in it almost becomes easier than stopping and starting.

I seemed to do nearly 3 miles with warm up but am hoping the speed will come with time. I am enjoying it again so that has to be good.

Not sure how my body is changing but feel trimmer and dresses as floatier and less stuck to my body. Legs are more toned too.

Not sure what running is doing for my body (weighed myself in Boots and seemed to have put on about 5lb Hmm) but definitely getting better at going up hills when walking at any rate. And feeling good in a good mood type of way. Think tummy may be a bit flatter too - had been feeling a bit over full before I started doing this.

AuntieBulgaria · 08/10/2012 18:58

Well done everyone for keeping it up.

My weight hasn't changed but I am eating all kinds of nonsense and not gaining. DH sweetly said he thought my overall appearance had changed a bit - generally fitter looking.

My cycle app managed to track w8r1 today with no problem - without the warm up 5 mins walk, just the 28 mins running, I covered 4.11k at an average speed of 6.11m/k so I wouldn't quite fit 5k in 30 mins but it's a goal to consider after the end of week 9!

TerrysNo2 · 08/10/2012 19:56

Evening all!

Well done to all the runners today, its interesting to hear about your body changes. I don't really need to lose weight but I would love to tone my tummy and in an ideal scenario lose half a stone but really I just want to get fit (and not feel guilty when eating cake Grin)

pip I don't think the distance is so important as the fact you are jogging for 30 minutes, speed is something you can improve upon in time.

Glad you're on here movingforward I was wondering if I was going to be left on my own when the others graduate soon Smile

Movingforward123 · 08/10/2012 20:33

piprabit wow 4 inches off each thigh?? I am sooo Envy that's amazing!!

Movingforward123 · 08/10/2012 20:38

miranda - do you think you may have built muscle and thats why you have put on weight?

terry I'm sure i will be here for a while Grin

kid · 09/10/2012 23:02

Just wanted to mark a place on the thread while I think about when I will actually start c25k Smile
I was directed here from another thread I started about being new to running.

piprabbit · 09/10/2012 23:09

Hello kid, come join us

kid · 09/10/2012 23:15

I was at the gym tonight for a 45 minute cardio combat class so forgive me for not grabbing the trainers and dashing round the block Grin

I might attempt c25k tomorrow providing I can sort out dinner and DC.
Once I build it into my routine it should be easy to stick to, its just the lack of routine at the moment. Also the uncertainty of where I will actually run.

HalleLouja · 10/10/2012 07:20

Go on kid it gets addictive. She says, hopefully.

I'll be doing week 6 run 2 once the DC have gone to school. Am hoping my body feels like doing two 10 minute runs...

HalleLouja · 10/10/2012 07:46

Am doing week 8 day 1 this evening.

OP posts:
countingdown · 10/10/2012 08:43

I don't think my body has changed at all. Possibly the cause of this is the wine/chocolate/cheese I have been having in the evenings as a 'reward' for running!

Auntie after my 28minute run I also worked out I'd covered 4.1km, so maybe we're on the right lines?

Hope everyone running today enjoys it.

MirandaWest · 10/10/2012 09:45

I did running :) hands were freezing to start with - think I need to run in gloves. Although they did warm up. Had Lance Armstrong pop up at the end to tell me I'd done a new personal best for the mile which was pleasing (is a bit on my Nike Plus widget). Am pretty sure I can go a bit faster so will see how 25 minutes goes on Friday.

Now I need to tidy the house which will be a much bigger challenge I fear....

piprabbit · 10/10/2012 14:23

I managed to do my W8r1 session this morning. It was very chilly (frost on the cars) and my hands were also really cold to start with too. They get sweaty by the end of the run so I don't know whether to put up with the cold for a bit or try gloves.

I seemed to be moving through treacle for the last 10mins and the gaps between Laura's perky comments were much bigger, so I kept wondering how I was doing. I did it - but without having much left in the tank to speed up at the end. Maybe next time.

For anyone still looking for cheap running kit, Aldi have various running items as special buys this Thursday (11th Oct).

MirandaWest · 10/10/2012 14:51

Well done pip :)

I have bad circulation especially in my hands and had to put the sleeves of my top over them in my warm up as they were so cold and sore. But by the end they were warm. Think I 'd rather have hands too hot than cold tbh.

Am planning a trip to Aldi to see what they have - think my long sleeved top was from there. Am slightly concerned my running tights are going a bit see through after DC pointed out on the walk to school that they could see the details on my pants through them Blush. Am not bothered with other people seeing me running but possibly being able to see my underwear is taking it a bit too far Grin

Movingforward123 · 10/10/2012 18:07

I did week for today, 3mins running, 90 seconds walking, then 5mins running, 2 1/2 minutes walking and repeat. wow that was hard. I have no idea how I will be able to progree from here, I've never ran for 5mins before ever in my whole life, and I am including as a child.

Anyone else like me? And managed to progress? not looking forward to repeating above on friday Confused

HalleLouja · 10/10/2012 21:08

Moving I think most of us have felt the way you do. I have never run before my first attempt two years ago and never ran very far but slowly slowly I have got there.

Today I ran for 28 minutes (wk 8 day 2) and it was better than week 7 day 1 and 2. I was happy it ended but thought I did ok. Still not going very far but concentrating on stamina and then speed. Just so made up I can run for so long.
