LET'S FUCKING DO IT....!

fannybanjo · 23/11/2011 14:31

Oh the irony. After eating pure junk all weekend in my scientific experiment, I've been good all week. Had Edamame Bean salad for lunch and it's gone through me as fast as MoshiFarah on a moped. Hmm. Feel rough as fuck.

Hi all!
Not been on for ages though have been lurking. Congratulations peach! Kate is beautiful! And a lovely name. Hope the sleeping and feeding all settles down soon, and DD1 is enjoying being a big sister.

orange you are doing so well. Just think that it wasn't that long ago that you were running half that distance. You'll do great on the day. Smile

I'm still getting to the gym 3 or 4 times a week but have found that I'm going on the bike a bit more - my knee is hurting again and I'm crediting that to the treadmill. The next few weekends are quieter for me so I might actually get outside to run. Shock But I am struggling to up my distance. I think it is because I don't have a goal but right now I am happy to just keep running.

Right, I've got to pick DS up from nursery. I'll try and be back more regularly - it helps with my motivation! And you're all very funny!

peachLFDTsmuggler · 23/11/2011 15:16

Omg fanny, " gone through me like Moshifarah on a moped". Please don't do that again to a woman with a compromised pelvic floor!!!

DrNo, that is so sad about Angie off Biggest Loser. I watched the last 2 series and have the workout DVD Sad

Orange, I think if 1 hour 36 is you struggling, then you ate going to be fine. Best thing after a difficult run is pick yourself up and move on. You will actually have learned loads from it and can absorb it over the next couple of days. Remember as you are increasing your mileage, these linger runs might all be difficult doing the distance for the first time, but that's to be expected. Bless you, dropping yer crisps! Loving petrol station man, what a gent.

Hat, that does sound like a great trip, and well done for getting out and running. Loved your middle age woman paragraph, sounds like you met some really lovely, inspiring folk!

monkey, sympathy on musical bed front! We were lucky in that although I co-slept with DD1, once she was in her own cot, and now bed she seems to like her own space. I would still like her in our bed sometimes (so snuggly!) but she never sleeps, just messes about and chats nineteen to the dozen! I love bf too, I just love their little faces when you look downat them, and the baby drunkard look they have when they are finished. Shock at your GP. There is a surprising amount of of ignorance, even within the medical profession, about bf. Well done you for feeding when 7 months pregnant. I think the exhaustion might have sent me over the edge! I bf DD1 till she was 2.5 but wanted a bit of "time off" before getting pregnant again.

monkeyLFDTwench · 23/11/2011 15:24

I love ed beans but they have that effect on me - tmi sorry.

orange Angry at your dropped crisps. When I went into labour with ds2, I went into hospital for a check up, they said "sorry, you're in labour you have to stay on the postnatal ward for a bit until things kick off". So I went up to the ward and did a bit of light jogging up and down the corridor to set things going again.

DH went and got me a packet of crisps and I'd just opened them when I felt a pop and ... things had started! The midwife came and snatched the crisps from me, allegedly just in case I needed a c section!

I've nursed a grudge over that packet of crisps for years. Can you tell? Grin

orangeLFDThead · 23/11/2011 15:29

Thanks everyone. Fanny I as nearly cursing you at one point going up the hill. But I am glad you talked me into it.Sorry you not feeling hot.
Thats good £12 for a marathon running, at least its before the weather gets hot.
peach is she sleepy for evening feeds? Ds1 use to always fall asleep when feeding meaning he would want feeding an hour later and my very sore bleeding boobs could not take much more. Then I then started massaging his feet whilst he feed it helped keep him alert and have a proper feeD and therefore go longer between feeds. It also seemed to help with his colic. I coslept with DS2 but that might of been more to do with that I was alone in a kingsize bed and lonely also he was a terrible sleeper so easier he was in bed with me. Glad you had some rest this morning, thank goodness for mil's.
Sorry your knee not good badger
Oh I so love the milk drunk look, really miss it. I had such a tough time bf ds1 so much so that I didn't really want to bf ds2. But bfing ds2 was a dream it was so easy.

orangeLFDThead · 23/11/2011 15:31

Lol monkey. That meany midwife, I feel your pain.

sfxmum · 23/11/2011 16:02

ibby pesky phone

monkey that is scandalous Grin

orange don't fret it will be fine, race is different from training

hat that is a lovely post, great to have had such a positive experience
honestly I think this generation of women, now in their late 30's early 40's must start reclaiming our age as a positive thing, all this cult of fake youth is ridiculous, perfectly fine to keep a curious spirit, have experience and be at easy with the world and a few wrinkles Grin

still dd activities to go to, we have a priest sleeping over tonightShock

sfxmum · 23/11/2011 16:07

fanny Grin

monkey about insurance lawyer no yawn although there are boring and ponderous people in every profession
like the man fromHMRC, I attended his talk and nearly fell asleep, he was grey all over, grey everything, why?

peach the baby milk drunkard Smile oh the bliss

stickyLFDTfingers · 23/11/2011 16:27

orange that is not a bad time at all for a training run with hills. You should feel very happy with yourself.

monkey LOL at you and your crisp-grudge! I hope you don't meet that poor MW again, I've a feeling she'd come off worse...

hat that is lovely. And you're quite right sfx, about encouraging an indifference to all the stupid advertising. I love feisty older women!

Why are you having a priest for a sleepover?

badger hope your knee improves. Knees are a pain.

So I did my 5 miles slow-fast-slow-fast-slow again. Thanks fanny for the arse kicking Grin. It was cold and windy though, felt proper wintry.

fannybanjo · 23/11/2011 16:52

I propose we have to post in a separate post our runs and times and pace. Then we have motivation to get faster. Only way ladies. So if you want to be on this thread you HAVE to share everything!!

I'm on way out the door so I'll do mine when I'm back.

No-one cares if you're faster or slower, we are all here to help each other. GrinGrinGrin

FANNY'S FIT (or fat Wink) AS FUCK boot camp starts today!!!

OP posts:
fannybanjo · 23/11/2011 17:03

orange I agree about ignorance many health professionals have over BF. I convinced a couple of my friends to BF and they couldn't thank me enough when they'd finished as they loved it. I even got flowers sent by one as she poopooed the idea before I pointed out the benefits. I think positive role models are a huge importance in getting the message across to young women especially. It has to be seen as "trendy". I'd love to be a BF counseller, I've loads of ideas how to get the rate higher. The amount of money the NHS would save if more mums BF is huge. I don't understand why more isn't done to promote it.

Fanny's Breastfeeding boot camp next...

OP posts:
rhetorician · 23/11/2011 17:32

I am cowering because fanny will shout at me when she gets back...didn't run yesterday and in the end didn't run today either (I had a very bad morning, and then was sitting in a meeting thinking 'this is going on and on' and then ' I feel a bit feverish, my throat is sore')

Please reassure me that my legs won't fall off, or my weight balloon, or that I will struggle tomorrow. I feel completely peculiar - it's a really long time since I went 2 days without a run, except after a race.

stickyLFDTfingers · 23/11/2011 17:40

don't be daft, rhet! Though I do diagnose an allergy to long and boring meetings. You should get Health and Safety on to that...

If you're not going down with anything and manage to get out tomorrow, I expect you'll run all the better for the (very brief) rest.

DDs are doing the can can again. The whole house is shaking Grin

fannybanjo · 23/11/2011 17:41

You got a sick note hey rhet HEY?? ANSWER ME BITCH?!!

Did that work honeybee...?! Grin

rhet my love, I'll let you off just this once but unless you have a reason that I approve of tomorrow, then you have to do double the hills on Friday. Comprende? Wink

Right I'm gonna start the new posts listing our runs. I'm flouncing if no-one does it too... (you now have a good chance to get shut of my fellow rubbers)

OP posts:
fannybanjo · 23/11/2011 17:43

Run. 3 miles. 23m17s average pace 7.46. Felt quite hard Blush

OP posts:
MoshiMoshi · 23/11/2011 17:44

rhet I think you are excused with DD2 on the way. But tell yourself to wake up with purpose and just get out with a bit of LFDT.

rhetorician · 23/11/2011 17:48

fanny I spend half of my life trying to determine whether sick notes are genuine or not...worry not, I'll be out tomorrow (or perhaps in on treadmill). It's not like me to not feel like going out, so I guess I should listen to that - but not for too long!

love your dds exploits, sticky - DD actually copied first position from the ballet thingy on cbeebies yesterday. I hated the very idea, but actually I'd be happy enough for her to want to do it - strength, flexibility and all that. Do any of your dds do any kind of dance - my dd has always loved it, but there are some roads I don't want to go down (Irish dancing e.g. kids in full make up and permatans at the age of 6 Shock)

MoshiMoshi · 23/11/2011 17:49

Nice one fanbo. OK, I went for a run on the G Trainer today after seeing my Physio who said the sprain was minor (hurrah!) I did a 2M W/U followed by 4x1M (6:49, 6:40, 6:31, 6:19) with 1M recoveries, followed by 0.5M C/D. Total 7M av pace 7:10m/m.

Look - we're talking about running again! Grin

rhetorician · 23/11/2011 17:56

on bf - DD1 was fed until about 8 months when she more or less stopped herself - although then all her digestive problems began (minor in the larger scheme of things, but hey). DP was heroic - it didn't come easily and was always a struggle. She couldn't express which meant that she never got a break - we're hoping it will be easier this time, and that she can express - then I (or her mother) can mind the baby the mornings that she goes to college. Otherwise I suspect DD2 will get a much shorter run at it. Fingers crossed.

Think I am going to have to post my training paces and pretend they are m/min rather than km/min....ha ha ha (remember that I am actively trying to run slowly at the moment)

Last run on Monday was 4 miles dead, 48 minutes, 12 m/mi at 62% of MHR...about 137bpm

sfxmum · 23/11/2011 17:58

rhet I can't hack it as a ballet mum I avoided it until dd begged then she went and hated the teacher although she still does 'ballet' at home. Horse riding is good for posture and much more her thing

Priest is dh's friend weird bunch from school priest, lawyer, surgeon and dh who mucks about with computers. Almost a joke in there

fannybanjo · 23/11/2011 17:58

Nice one MoshiFarahonaMoped - one day I dream I can be just like you!! WinkGrin

I'm shredding in a bit. Get this, I bought weights too! A fucking pyramid of them. Blush

OP posts:
rhetorician · 23/11/2011 17:59

she also loves horse - I think I'd make a spectacularly bad ballet mum!

fannybanjo · 23/11/2011 18:02

Nice one too FergieAkaRhet. Don't apologise for pace, this is not what it's about. We're all individual.

OP posts:
MoshiMoshi · 23/11/2011 18:12

Correction. Recoveries were 1 min not 1M.

orangeLFDThead · 23/11/2011 18:13

Rhet I usually find if I have a few days break for whatever reason my next run is really good. It happened last week I missed my monday run so was nervous as I had not run since the friday and I was upping mileage on the wednesday. But it went great on the wednesday and I did it faster than expected. Sometimes a litle break does you, don't worry. Plus you need to make sure you are fit and healthy for the big event or your dp may kill you.
Ds2 does street dancing which he loves. They also do yoga at school, very different from when I did p.e and I am Shock at how flexible he is. Ds1 takes after me ad not very flexible.
Regarding expressing rhetI just couldn't express with ds1, I would be sat there an hour and only get one or two ounces off. But with ds2 20 mins expressing I could get 7or 8 ounces off. So there is hope.
