Just thinking (slowly), it does refer to Mommy and Daddy, but presumably that's something you've already got DD1 comfortable with?

fannybanjo · 06/11/2011 21:14

Thanks sticky! Still loved the GNR more though, this race was so different!

wheely Angry at your MIL. Although I can be a gobby cow, I'm learning some things are best not said and that includes sarcastic insults. Not funny at all. Your DD will get a complex. I am intending to do Stockport 10, for the famous goody bag mainly!!! Grin. You defo not up for it?

Oh rhet meant to say - please send me the scan, I'd be so grateful. On your recommendation, I've asked DH to buy me the heart rate monitor for my Garmin for Xmas. You see, you don't realise that although you class yourself as a "plodder", I view you are a better, stronger, more experienced runner than myself and actually look up to you and you are very honest and I love that.

Got awful cramping tonight. Sad

Wheelybug · 06/11/2011 21:14

And get her an 'i'm a big sister' t shirt. Highly naff but makes them feel special IMO !

peachsmuggler · 06/11/2011 21:15

Great race report Fanny. it sounds like you did it completely right, except the virgin powerade trial (naughty fanny, slaps on err, not fanny, erm bum!). Racing for pbs SHOULD be hard and it sounds like you really pushed yourself, well done! Hope you had summat nice for your tea tonight!

Cote, what a shame about the race, sounded pretty dramatic there! Well done on running anyway, hope you're not too soggy!

orange, you young thing!!!!

Wheely, am Shock at your MIL!!! Your DD2 has beautiful hair!!!! Why anyone would not think so is beyond me, and to say it!!! Did you say anything?. I probably wouldn't as am a total weenie who runs a mile from confrontation but maybe ask DH to tell her to zip it! My DD has curlywurlycrazyhair and it rocks!!!

Wheelybug · 06/11/2011 21:16

It was orange asking about stockport Fanny. not entirely sure I know where stockport is (southern softie here)

fannybanjo · 06/11/2011 21:17

Sorry meant to reply to orange re Stockport 10! orange why don't you do it as part of training? Don't "race" it per se, use it as a good way to learn about racing?

fannybanjo · 06/11/2011 21:18

wheely I'm fucked!! Eyes aren't even focusing!!!

peach thank you, hope all ok with you?

orangehead · 06/11/2011 21:18

Might see how I go upping my miles and see if there are any places last minute.

Wheelybug · 06/11/2011 21:18

Yes peach both dh and I did. But not confrontationally enough. Dd says 'i've got curlywurly hair' . I realise its marmite hair (love it or hate it) but ....

fannybanjo · 06/11/2011 21:20

Orange you'd finish it even if you only did 7/8 miles in training. I'd go for it plus we could meet!!

orangehead · 06/11/2011 21:21

lol no I wouldn't be racing it just plodding around.

stickylittlefingers · 06/11/2011 21:22

wheely it's on the edge of Manchester (my SIL is from there, she reckons it's the posh bit!)

Fanny now you've said this twice now about the bags. What is it that's in this goody bag? Interest definitely piqued...

fannybanjo · 06/11/2011 21:23

orange g'awn, do it!!

fannybanjo · 06/11/2011 21:28

sticky if you have 3 mins, watch this - answers your question and pretty funny! Grin

Dear me, I am feeling pretty sick at the moment... Think the day is catching up on me, I haven't stopped.

rhetorician · 06/11/2011 21:28

fanny you probably know what I'm going to say; at a guess I'd reckon that you are doing most of your training in your anaerobic zone and what you need is aerobic conditioning...go figure. Anyway, I'll send you the stuff - your splits for this run were pretty constant, only slowing a little for the hill. But you are a completely different type of runner from me with different goals (and more basic talent) and what works for one doesn't work for all.

orange lol at being id-ed - it's been a while since I was - although it did happen into my mid-30s from time to time.

peachsmuggler · 06/11/2011 21:31

Rhet, dinnae panic lassie, it will all be fine when DD2 arrives. Agree a lovely book and naff tshirt sound like s good idea. My DD1 is quite a bit older than yours, at 3 and 8 months so is very into the whole thing and excited etc but your DD will be fine. She is younger so won't be long till she forgets that the universe did indeed once revolve around her!!! Have you got her a present from the baby? I've got a "Mr Bear's new Baby" (featuring older sister bear!), a Tinkerbell DVD (boak) and going to get a My Little Pony (double boak), which she will flipping love!!! I can't get my head round prospect of having baby in house so am not even going to try, will just wait for juggernaught to hit! Feeling a lot more imminent now we have less than two weeks to go. Washed sling today (shouts hallelujah at end of washing marathon) and just need to order spare part for pram which I still can't find. Even sat on yoga ball for a bit today and did the lady gardening.

fannybanjo · 06/11/2011 21:34

rhet I know, you are right. I need a HRM to calm me down don't I? I am a naturally competitive person (with myself) and always want to do the best and I need to stop pushing my body all the time. Typical control freak really. Although my training has worked this time so I must be doing something right! In 6 weeks, I have managed to knock 7.40 mins off my last HM. I do believe we are all different and I kind of am learning along the way BUT I do love getting advice from you all and I have always stored it in my brain and used it. I think my plus point is I only do 4 runs a week, any more and I would burn totally out and any extra runs would have to be easy runs in aerobic state.

peachsmuggler · 06/11/2011 21:42

Sending emergency chocolate brownie to Fanny

DP just ate his with some jam. When I raised a Hmm eyebrow he said "What???? It's no different from a fruit compote" ?!?

ibbydibby · 06/11/2011 21:43

Feeling like I've left it a bit late, but it is still Sunday, big well done to Rhet, Futurity and Fanny.

Rhet your race sounds fantastic, and loved your report. Must admit that overtaking people gives me a bit of a buzz, especially towards the end.

Futurity brilliant that you got in under an hour. Personally I wouldn't be too worried about your first mile split - I try to use the inevitable bottleneck at the start of a race to my advantage, it stops me haring off too fast (which I would probably do if there weren't crowds of other runners stopping me).

Fanny fantastic time! Hope you are being pampered this evening. Sounds like you really struggled at the end, so even more reason to be proud.

Orange sorry you were refused alcohol, all I can say is that I have never been asked for ID...will this do? Wine (sorry if someone else has already offered you one...)

Spent this morning clearing up playing field in village following last night's fireworks. Picked up 10 million (ish) small black plastic cartridge thingies. Then DH and I drove to rubbish dump, and saw one of my running club pals en route - running. Saw her again on way home from dump, so guilt got the better of me and I went out for a long one this afternoon. 3 weeks to go to half marathon, and prob not done as much training as should have.

Hope everyone has had good weekends.

rhetorician · 06/11/2011 21:44

good tips for DD - she is going to get a scooter from the baby (must order); thanks. sticky no, she's cool with that - almost all her books have mummy and daddy in them (although fascinatingly she has a particular interest in the few that don't) - that's very sweet about your dds.

fanny I think most running coaches would probably tell you to cut one of the harder runs and replace it with a longer, easier run, and to add another easy run. What weekly mileage do you generally run? You can't build mileage and continue with the same intensity - you will crack up. I know you like to push yourself, but slowing down, or running according to HR zones is a challenge in itself - it takes a lot of self-discipline. You need to run fast in races, not in training! your race pace should be faster than your average training pace - I'm not sure that it is, or not much.

stickylittlefingers · 06/11/2011 21:46

OMG, Fanny - a whole video about a goody bag. Now the meal worm bit was just plain odd. Shame you don't get all the bars though! Hope you're feeling less chundery now.

Peach sounds like you're well prepared for DD1 at least! And glad to hear the lady gardening is sorted Wink.

I'm getting all teary eyed about bringing DD2 home from hospital - we have some pictures up of DD1 "meeting" DD2 (DD2 lying in her bouncer, clutching DD1's finger) and it was magic Grin. They squabble, obviously, but DD1's always been so protective of DD2, and DD2 thinks DD1 is a wondrous being. The beginning of a beautiful relationship - I do hope it will last so they're supportive of each other as adults.

rhetorician · 06/11/2011 21:49

sticky that's so lovely. I did have a long conversation with DD yesterday in which she talked about wanting to have the baby in her room, and how they would get a doll's house and play with it together...

peachsmuggler · 06/11/2011 21:53

Arrghh stop it sticky, you'll get me started! That picture sounds so sweet.

Was slightly worried after gardening today, as it (aherm) smarted a little when I went for a wee and I had a panic thinking, what if I go into labour today and I have a chafed fanny!!!

stickylittlefingers · 06/11/2011 21:55

bless her, I'm sure your DD will take it in her stride rhet. It's a good time for you two to be doing "big girl" things together that the baby can't do, like going out on bikes and the park. It's all so exciting! Grin. I hope all the busyness and ridiculous relatives aren't taking the shine off too much.

stickylittlefingers · 06/11/2011 21:58

sure that'd be the least of your problems peach Grin
