Thought i would start a new thread so al those wanting to start or return to running in 2011 had somewhere to post Smile

I have NEVER tried running before so very very nervous about starting, but thought couch to 5k sounded a good method of getting into it.

I am off to bluewater tomorrow to buy running shoes - any recommendations???

Talking about sports bras, which we weren't but are now (!)

What brand do you like? I am going to have to get a new one because the one I have is too big. I bought it two years ago but have lost lots of weight since then. The one I'm using is a shock absorber.

Sometimes especially when I start out I want to run holding my boobs. It's not a good look!

girtlush · 07/02/2011 16:10

I've just got an LA gear one that cost a fiver. But boob Moveage is not really a problem for me as there's not a great deal to move iyswim Blush sorry I can't help.

LIZS · 07/02/2011 16:12

Just been out but still not completed Wk3 r3. Not lost any weight either Hmm

RatherBeOnThePiste · 07/02/2011 16:56

Girt - I don't have way too much bazoomerage moverage as such Confused Grin

I am a 36B ish, but it's enough moverage for me to want to hang on to them when I start off!

Got to go running later

girtlush · 07/02/2011 17:23

Well in that case rather I am the same as you. The La gear el cheapo one I have does the job perfectly
for me, no boob holding required Grin

it's a bit like a crop top but made of Lycra so it's quite tight but it holds them nice and still Grin i got it for £4.99 from sports direct

RatherBeOnThePiste · 07/02/2011 17:37

I think the problemo is that the one I have is too big hence the moverage! I just need a smaller size. I genuinely feel I want to hang on sometimes!

I don't think I've lost any weight because of the running. The bra I have is from my pre dieting days!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 07/02/2011 19:26

Week 6 Run 2 done - but ever such hard work. Run 10 mins, walk 3, run 10.

After this it's just run 25 mins, moving quickly to 30, then 45. I'm not sure about that. I know I did 20 but that nearly killed me.

Is anyone else at this point? Cubscout, how are you finding this?

sybilfaulty · 07/02/2011 19:54

Rather, I am with you - I have to do the 25 min run as my next outing. I didn't leave work early enough today so will go tomorrow or Wed. The C25K is just long runs then so I am leaving Robert and going back to my own music. I find knowing the distance helps. I have 3 or 4 routes round here which are between 2 miles and 3.5. My aim is to be able to run all of the longest one, as that's over 5k. I have a 5k event (oh, get me) in March so I'm working towards that. I did a 5k before Christmas but was rubbish and undertrained so I am aiming for better.

Welcome to all the newbies again. So glad so many people are on this thread and doing well. Keep on running everyone.

cubscout · 07/02/2011 21:07

Ooh er...just back from W6r2. I find running in the evening difficult anyway - I'm def a morning person all round, but I found that hard. I was sooo ready to stop at 10 mins, don;t know how on earth I will manage 25 mins.

Don't know if its a psychological barrier? Or maybe I'm running too fast? Only positive thing I could say is that my recovery seems to be faster each time I'm out.

Think I will rest for 2 days and try r3 on Thurs. And flop into bed quite soon. But at least feel virtuous Grin

midtowner · 08/02/2011 03:47

girt - am loving the looking as though you were on day release. I think that applies to me too, especially when it's cold and wet Smile.

I did W5R1 today, was really shattered as had not slept well, and cheated a couple of time by jogging on the spot at traffic lights.

rather - I got a couple of nike dri-fit crop tops/sports bras from sports direct back in the summer. They've got some nice running stuff in the sale just now, so have treated myself to a couple of tops and some new bottoms. I'm coming back to the UK this week so have been ordering various bits of on-line shopping to my parents' address - hopefully they won't get too much of a shock Grin.

midtowner · 09/02/2011 00:49

Oh dear - have I killed us?!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 09/02/2011 06:11

Still here Midtowner!
Am hopefully running later but not sure how to fit it in so it maybe tomorrow. It's a full on 25 mins. Gulp.

WheeshtWillYe · 09/02/2011 06:31

I did Yorkshire!Smile And it went OK - I was a bit frustrated as I felt a bit out of puff & I'd been feeling really good before. I'm pushing 2 kids in the stroller too, it's really is hard work, isn't it? I think I'm going to do 2 weeks of the week 4 runs to get back on track.

Do you get any aches & pains from running with the stroller? I keep thinking that my knees, back, arms or something are sure to start killing me but so far so good.

cubscout · 09/02/2011 07:40

Still here too - just too tired to post. Grin
Trying to decide what to do about the dreaded 25 min run - heavy rain forecast for tomorrow so although I wanted another rest day, I might have to go and do it....ds has tennis afterschool and I usually read a book in the nice warm clubhouse but in theory I could go. Gulp.

midtowner · 09/02/2011 12:19

Phew! I thought you had all run away!

Just back from W5R2. We a bit worried, as I drank a leetle too much wine last night celebrating DH's first day in his new job, and couldn't face any food before I went out. It was as cold as ever, but I got through it.

I'll be running in sarf London next! Good luck with the 25 minute runs rather and cubscout.

GypsyMoth · 09/02/2011 12:21

last night did wk4 r2...getting a bit easier, and recovering quicker

does anyone else run on a bit when told to stop? i do this in 'preparation' for next week!

midtowner · 09/02/2011 12:41

I do that ILT - usually to the next traffic light, which is never far away Smile

YorkshireCrockpot · 09/02/2011 14:57

Weesht have given up with the buggy now! Didn't hurt or anything just plain tiring to push the dam thing.

Running for 25 mins seems such a long way off so well done those that are nearly there. I'm happy and cosy in denial about ever running for over 5 mins Shock. Speaking of which trying out my first evening run tonight back at week 3. Fingers crossed.

My sports bra is a sad looking thing from m and s which I've just realised is 10 years old!!!!! Gulp! Not much booby juggling though.

YorkshireCrockpot · 09/02/2011 14:59

Tiffany- no. Definatly not. I have to stop or else I'll fall down!

GypsyMoth · 09/02/2011 15:00

i can never be bothered to change into mine at the end of the day when i go for my rub! Shock

lazy i know!!!

along with low carbing and being more active i have now lost 9 pounds!!

GypsyMoth · 09/02/2011 15:01

rub??? i mean run! lol

RatherBeOnThePiste · 09/02/2011 15:06

I have bought one and it is my proper size. It's not massive at 36B but i find I do need one!

I fully intend to try the 25 min run today. I find the first few minutes the hardest. Then I sort of get into a pattern before hauling my arse round the last part.

Sarf London you say? Well we shall practically be running together as we are SW London!

LIZS · 09/02/2011 16:36

Been out today but still not completed a week 3 run Blush . Think I may just stick at this level until it seems easier ! I'm still out and moving for up to half an hour so that in itself isn't bad for me. Well done to those who are progressign so well.

cubscout · 09/02/2011 16:41

Oh my god. Apologies in advance for shouting but I JUST RAN FOR 25 MINS. Without stopping. Very slowly at the end. But without stopping. Can hardly type on the phone I' m shaking so much.

Good luck Rather. I'll be back later to see how everyone is getting on. Need to lie down for a bit. Unfortunately tea then cub scouts for ds gets in the way first.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 09/02/2011 17:11

OMG CUBSCOUT
