Hi,

Longtime lurker and poster (under various nn) on Westminstenders and these threads.

I'm afraid the other thread op pissed me off a lot so here's another option for those of us that want one.

Wishing you all a Happy Christmas and good luck for 2022.

a real brexit win at last

I guess if pfeffel thinks that's a 'key' success it says more about the whole charade than anything else to date?

Here's hoping that twenty two will make something better out of the shambles that has been the first year of Brexit being "done".

HannibalHeyes · 01/01/2022 00:24

Why TF is the Grauniad of all places reporting that as fact, when pretty much all of it is complete and utter bullshit?

Peregrina · 01/01/2022 00:35

Happy New Year to you all. I hope next year is better than 2021 was.

If we could have a few by elections where Johnson's Tories got slaughtered I would feel happier about it. I would be careful about wishing Johnson gone - as Napoleon is supposed to have said, 'never interrupt your enemy when he's making a mistake.'

And it's pathetic if crowns on pint glasses are a brexit success, and being able to sell goods in pounds and ounces which we could do anyway.

I watch the by elections with increased hope each time. Even the local council elections are cutting through slightly here in my bluer than blue Tory shire! That makes me hope for my children.
DrBlackbird · 01/01/2022 01:23

This is more of the realistic Brexit win we’ve got as of starting today (alledgedly). What we should’ve been experiencing a year ago. Just chipping away at everything we had before and replacing it with… nothing apparently. Nothing of importance. I’m going to struggle to achieve one of my resolutions if our crap government carries on as it is 🤦🏻‍♀️

Would you prefer the Express version?

This is the source by the way:
www.gov.uk/government/news/prime-minister-pledges-to-build-on-brexit-achievements-in-2022

I do agree - virtually all of this is bullshit, as is everything that comes out of pfeffel's mouth/government.

borntobequiet · 01/01/2022 09:17

This is indeed big news and what would Screaming Lord Such say?
One of his parties key policies was that pets need holidays too.

But surely a British seaside holiday is good enough for the average pet? And a budgie will be very happy in a caravan.

Happy New Year all. Thanks for your company for the past few years!

borntobequiet · 01/01/2022 09:22

My local butcher now displays prices by Imperial weight, to the confusion of anyone under about 50 until they notice the metric price in small print.

DuncinToffee · 01/01/2022 10:19

Happy New Year everyone!

dontcallmelen · 01/01/2022 10:58

Happy new year everyone, yy not feeling particularly hopeful but at the moment it appears that’s all we have.

HarrietPierce · 01/01/2022 12:07

Happy New Year all !

I’m in danger of joining the conspiracy theory hoardes.

Reading that the BBC bloody interviews Alan Dershowitz as an ‘independent’ legal analyst makes me think that the world is being run by a race of sociopathic lizards masquerading as our global financial and political leaders.

With hatching and rearing occurring in elite private schools such as Eton. What other explanation can there be? In fact, this could explain everything….

DuncinToffee · 01/01/2022 12:59

And following that interview, Radio 4 Today had Ian Maxwell protesting his sister's innocence of sex offences in a five-minute interview.

"I’m in danger of joining the conspiracy theory hoardes."

I'm there already!! I have just ordered The Prophecies (Penguin Classics) Paperback – 5 Jun. 2014
by - Nostradamus (Author) It is translated directly from the French by Richard Sieburth Professor Emeritus of French Literature, Thought and Culture and Comparative Literature at New York University (NYU).

Just wanted to see if there was anything relating to the cabal of crooks currently in charge of the Government and their crazy damaging Brexit. Probably not, but bits of it may be interesting.

HarrietPierce · 01/01/2022 13:03

Mind you that was after a couple of glasses of wine last night!!

TheABC · 01/01/2022 13:06

If the world is being run by lizards they are doing a piss poor job of it. Even with Bezos' millions there's no real escape hatch from this planet and the climate does not care what species you are. In fact, as lizards thermoregulate, they are more fucked that we are in an unstable, extreme world...

I've just got the plot for my 2022 dystopian novel.
Happy New Year, everyone.

DuncinToffee · 01/01/2022 13:10

After having watched 'Don't look up', I am getting there too Grin

I would boycott a butcher who messed around with Imperial measures now. I do avoid one farm shop which made it clear that they voted for Brexit.

We had a big push towards metrication about 50 years ago when the currency changed, and things like fabrics and knitting wools changed to being sold in metric weights. This was before we joined the then EEC.

Scientists were using metric measures at least a decade before this.

It's just to ape the Americans, then their non metric measurements are not the same as ours. And many Commonwealth countries have gone to metric measurements.

DGRossetti · 01/01/2022 13:52

I would boycott a butcher who messed around with Imperial measures now.

I'd pay them in farthings.

Peregrina · 01/01/2022 13:59

DGR - I am old enough to remember when farthings were still legal tender.

Peregrina · 01/01/2022 14:00

And for a country which wishes to be GLOBAL - to deliberately go back to using measurements which the rest of the world bar the USA has moved on from, is STUPID.

DGRossetti · 01/01/2022 14:01

Just tell the local butcher they are again. Remember no one knows fuck all about Brexit so you may as well have fun with it.

What is stupid is that the rest of the world is refusing to use the superior British Imperial measurements. They hardly know what they are missing out on.
