Hi,

Longtime lurker and poster (under various nn) on Westminstenders and these threads.

I'm afraid the other thread op pissed me off a lot so here's another option for those of us that want one.

Wishing you all a Happy Christmas and good luck for 2022.

@codexa

Frost is distancing himself from Peppa de Pfeffle now, in preparation for becoming the next leader I reckon.

There might also be capitulation on the protocol incoming....

Frost thinks he has a shot at being PM ?

Presumably he isn't going to be the fall guy for Boris deal.

Sostenueto · 18/12/2021 21:06

Lord Frost has resigned. Not happy with the Government at all. He has resigned from the cabinet. Apparently he resigned last week. He's resigned over further Covid restrictions and the Northern Ireland talks.

Hope you make a good recovery Sostenueto.

DG Rosetti,

Not immediately, but maybe waiting in the long grass. Safe seat first, let someone else deal with the protocol disaster/backtrack and you'd never know. He would not be up against stellar performers anyway, not that he is one himself, but hubris you know...

Not sure even England is ready for a(nother) PM who sits in the Lords.

Or would he Viscount Stansgate it ?

DG Rosetti,

Frostie the Snowman might indeed renounce his title, but only if he is guaranteed a safe seat, and take it from there. A week is a long time in politics!

Peregrina · 18/12/2021 21:22

Knowing the current Cabinet, they will be daft enough to think that a further lurch to the right is needed. When in the North Shropshire by election UKIP and Reform both lost their deposits and the pro - rejoin party romped home.

I really did think that UKIP and Reform would have siphoned off many more Tory votes.

But if he tried to resign a week ago, this is before the by-election result, when we all thought that it was neck and neck.

Peregrina · 18/12/2021 21:28

Safe seat? They must be a bit jumpy now. Both Chesham and Amersham and North Shropshire were Safe Seats. Although I agree, in a GE things might well revert to normal, but they might not.

Thanks all. Xx had very traumatic experience. Was on my own rang doctors in morning for ftf got phone call instead told I just had a chest infection and no need to see me ( though I had all symptoms of heart attack) struggled all day then finally rang ambulance only to get an answer machine, not once but 3 times. I collapsed and could not ring anymore. I had rang dd but knew she would not have phone on before I rang 999 ( she's not allowed phone on when she's at work) so just lay there having major heart attack then 999 rang me back 25 mins later told me I would have to wait 3 hours for ambulance I told them I would not survive another 15 minutes. Next thing I wake up in ambulance waiting to get into A&E ( 2 hours) and then the NHS who are absolutely brilliant ambulance staff everyone worked to save my life. No ICU beds cos of Covid patients so had a helicopter ride to nearest ICU unit 30 miles away with a bed .Then double bypass. They saved my life I nearly died. A woman the previous day died in ambulance of heart attack. Can't believe I survived but so thankful. God bless all the NHS. This was in October.

Glad you're on the mend @sosuento 💐

(Very old westminstenders hand here!)

What odds will you give me for an 8pm "press conference" tomorrow night??...

@Sostenueto what an indescribably frightening experience that must have been. Glad you are on the mend. Best wishes for a full recovery. Flowers

Boris aint got the guts to do it. He's treated Covid always politically not following science until he has no other choice. They do lockdown now he will be gone and they will lose the next election. He will not cancel Xmas but he will lock down straight after. Party before people every time.

Sostenueto · 18/12/2021 22:15

Thanks icouldhavecheckedfirst and Opal8! Xx

I'm so glad you made it through all that, Sos, and congratulations on your DGD's successes. My DD1 is graduating next year and is sitting on the edge of a First, just the dissertation to go and she's going from strength to strength. DD2 is in her first year and is getting ridiculously good grades - got an 80% in her first Chemistry (as part of Marine Bio) assessment, this for a student who didn't do A level chem. My foster son struggled in his first year at uni but is starting to find his path (if his mother will let him Hmm).

Looking at the next generation does give me a bit of hope.

I can’t imagine anyone ever wanting Frost as their MP let alone PM.

He hasn’t uttered anything true, sensible or constructive for so long as I’ve been aware of him on the public stage.
