Hi,

Longtime lurker and poster (under various nn) on Westminstenders and these threads.

I'm afraid the other thread op pissed me off a lot so here's another option for those of us that want one.

Wishing you all a Happy Christmas and good luck for 2022.

Thanks to jgw1 for the only smile of the evening.

Thanks to Duncin for alerting me to the fact that Sam shares the same confusion.

AuldAlliance · 18/12/2021 06:48

In that interview with Sam Coates, BJ snarls suddenly, almost losing it, when asked about resigning.
Revealing a glimpse of the deeply nasty character lurking not far below the clownish surface.

Never known a PM to have attracted so much ridicule, even die hard tories i know are laughing at him, often with disgust too.

i hope he stays, going to be Labour/LD biggest asset.

He has built his entire reputation as being a bit of a joker and lad about town. Surely he is delighted that everyone is laughing at him?

Who else remembers Theresa May being pinned to the cardboard of the Tory party to take the flak so that the incoming Boris had a clean slate ?

In fact who else remembers Boris' ascendency to the position as being a coronation rather than an election ?

I think it is time* to remind the Tories that they chose Boris. In much the same way that Boris then signed the Withdrawal Agreement.

*I doubt the media will though ....

Worrying news from Imperial College. Initial research into omicron variant finds no evidence of it having lower severity than Delta. I sincerely hope they just haven't found the evidence and it is milder because otherwise the NHS is fucked.

Even more worrying when you read reports like the London Ambulance Service are down by almost 100 ambulances because nearly 400 staff are off sick with covid

I find it fascinating that everyone (apart from me, it seems) has forgotten that when Covid was first reported, it was a novel coronavirus. So the fact that it has gone on to act in a novel and unpredictable manner should be a surprised to fuck all people.

Anyway, it's all academic now. The government will pontificate around and the public will do as they damn well please. Hard to imagine it being any other way really.

DuncinToffee · 18/12/2021 16:13

My sister (in the Netherlands) is saying that they are going back in lock down. Official announcement later tonight.

Meanwhile the idiots are protesting in London, I am sure Omicron is having a party there.

DuncinToffee · 18/12/2021 16:15

That should say, the Netherlands are going back in full lockdown

I've been invited to a party in Downing Street on Christmas Eve, even if Boris says we are locked down I'm going, cos parties in Downing Street don't count.

Just tell the virus that you aren't afraid of it and enjoy the cheese and wine, freedom!

Brindle88 · 18/12/2021 16:47

Can’t believe the number of protesters in London.

Does anyone else think a lot of them are former Brexit fans? I’ve been looking at the footage on Twitter and there seems to be loads of gammons there.

DrBlackbird · 18/12/2021 16:51

And lest we forget that the UK is winning on more than the Covid shall we, shan’t we Johnson prevarication dance front, there’s also more Brexit winning to look forward to.

But hey, we’re sovereign and can make our own laws to screw over workers, judges, protestors, journalists etc. so that’s good.

Its fine I've been told that it doesn't spread when there is a convivial fraternal spirit.
Peregrina · 18/12/2021 17:16

But does the convivial spirit have to be Tory?

jgw1 · 18/12/2021 19:26

@Peregrina

But does the convivial spirit have to be Tory?
Well they are much more of a family than any of the other parties, which is why half of them who are not in the government voted against themselves this week.

EXCLUSIVE: Brexit Minister Lord Frost has resigned from Boris Johnson’s Cabinet over the ‘political direction of his Government’. Full details in tomorrow’s Mail on Sunday.

DuncinToffee · 18/12/2021 19:50

I was just going to post something similar but wasn't sure is was a reputable source

Lord Frost tendered his resignation a week ago - but was persuaded to stay until January

He thinks the government has direction? He is more bonkers than I thought previously.
Octavia174 · 18/12/2021 20:24

Wasn't Frost a full on Remainer?

Regardless, i'm surprised anyone with an ounce (or gram) of ability could work with that blonde moron.

Whitty next?

Opal8 · 18/12/2021 20:28

Rats deserting a sinking ship???...

Octavia174 · 18/12/2021 20:44

Interesting to know what direction Frost was so against? BJ going pro EU or the exact opposite?

Or just the drip drip of daily shite coming out about this Govt.

codexa · 18/12/2021 20:44

Frost is distancing himself from Peppa de Pfeffle now, in preparation for becoming the next leader I reckon.

There might also be capitulation on the protocol incoming....

jgw1 · 18/12/2021 20:51

@Opal8

Rats deserting a sinking ship???...
That's a little unfair on rats.
