Hi,

Longtime lurker and poster (under various nn) on Westminstenders and these threads.

I'm afraid the other thread op pissed me off a lot so here's another option for those of us that want one.

Wishing you all a Happy Christmas and good luck for 2022.

@Peregrina

Plus the constant emphasis on the Red Wall seats they have gained at the expense of voters who have been loyal to them for years (centuries in this case!)
In order to demonstrate how out of touch Tories are £16million of levelling up money is to be spent on reopening a bit of the Montgomery Canal near Oswestry, which is clearly a priority and not the lack of GPs in the area, or schools for children to attend. The prospective Tory candidate was keen to stress that a study was being done into reopening the railway line from Gobowen to Oswestry. Anyone who has driven along the A5 will know that there is a level crossing on that line, so a tunnel would need to be built, cost unknown. Clearly more important than funding local bus services at a fraction of the cost, that might actually go where people need them to.

It never ceases to amaze me why people who proudly declare they would always vote come what may act surprised when shits all over them.

If I'm guaranteed your vote ("But Jeremy Corbyn") then why on earth would I do anything for you ?

Opal8 · 17/12/2021 15:13

I wonder how many natural tory voters have died from covid?

It certainly seems that with average age of death of 82 its possible that they've lost a %?

But I admit I miss a certain cutnpaste person telling me what a disaster it was for Labour. I actually thought that the Labour vote was quite decent, this is was most definitely an anti Johnson vote.

GlassOfPort · 17/12/2021 15:15

no opposition (unlike new labour

To be fair, I think Starmer has now put together a very respectable front bench: Reeves vs Sunak, Cooper vs Patel, Lammy vs Truss: that should be plenty to ensure very robust opposition in the HoC.

Opal8 · 17/12/2021 15:24

Lammy????

Purlease.....

OP posts:
countrygirl99 · 17/12/2021 15:30

@Opal8 it is vs Truss

Opal8 · 17/12/2021 15:33

Lammy is a woman hating fuckwit

Looking good next to liz truss is a pretty low bar

GlassOfPort · 17/12/2021 15:42

I read Lammy's book (Tribes), I never had the impression he was a woman hater...

Opal8 · 17/12/2021 15:46

Yeah?

Apparently GC feminists are "rights hoarding dinosaurs"...

I mean, it's dragons that hoard for a start. He can't even abuse us accurately.

He's doing what all Labour/lib dem/Green politicians are doing to be fair...

Jumping on that Trans bandwagon.

Not sure its going too well for them tbh

@Opal8
I agree (with you!), I think "Trans-women are women" is as meaningful a slogan as "Brexit means Brexit", but I think the tide is slowing starting to turn (on both fronts Smile)
I also think that shouting "woman hater" at an otherwise decent politician is not going to help us. Lammy has the brain power to rip Truss to shreds in the commons and for the time being, that is good enough for me.

I don't rate him at all I'm afraid, woman hating remarks aside.

But I voted for Starmer as Labour leader so what do I know? ☹️

I can see the Tories laughing all the way to the next Parliament because of so many people voting with their ethical purity on trans issues. So bloody tired of it. Yes, I know it's important. But getting rid of this corrupt government is more important.

And as the foster parent of a trans man I am getting massively tired of the extremism on both sides of the trans debate.

DuncinToffee · 17/12/2021 16:40

Another Christmas party, this time involving Simon Case and his team

There has been a pernicious - and possibly orchestrated - drive these past few years to encourage people to only vote when they agree with 100% of the parties policies. Not quite sure when this started but it certain seems to be a thing.

If only the self ID was the only issue I had with labour!

How fucked is it?

Seriously?

The guy investigating actually attended some of the parties he is "investigating"!

And - as an aside - why aren't the male voices on the allegra Stratton video being hounded out? The ones hiving her the lies to tell?

The death rates from Omicron will be make of break for the tories I think

Not really - we've already a stellar death rate in the world.

What will do for the Tories is people not being able to jet around the world like they think they are entitled to.

DrBlackbird · 17/12/2021 19:21

So… I just saw a clip on channel 4 news of Johnson being asked he’d ‘quit for the good of the country or the good of the party’ and he responded by accusing the interviewer (‘Sam’) of breaking the golden rule by asking that question…

What golden rule? That one journalist doesn’t embarrass another journalist pretending to be a PM? That you don’t cross Boris? What?!

Don't talk about fight club?
DuncinToffee · 17/12/2021 19:52

Sam is asking the same question

Boris Johnson promises to “fix” his government but says it’s not his top priority
Full interview - hear the PM accuse me of “breaking the golden rule” - answers on a postcard….

It needs to be remembered with the sterling loss of North Shropshire, that the postal votes had already gone out before the stories about the Christmas Parties erupted. Leading me to conclude that it probably was the corruption and the shambolic way that Johnson has led the Covid issue which was responsible.
