Hi,

Longtime lurker and poster (under various nn) on Westminstenders and these threads.

I'm afraid the other thread op pissed me off a lot so here's another option for those of us that want one.

Wishing you all a Happy Christmas and good luck for 2022.

So Tory and Brexshit donor Dyson, has been awarded the contract to supply HEPA filtration for schools at only 6 times the price of comparable units.

I'm shocked. Shocked, I tell you, shocked...

Peregrina · 13/12/2021 23:34

I assume that schools won't have the money for this.

HannibalHayeski · 14/12/2021 00:29

And nothing to see here;

UK firms taking taxpayer backed Covid loans, donating to the Tory party...

borntobequiet · 14/12/2021 06:27

@Peregrina

You assume right. Schools don’t even have the money for supply teachers to cover those off with Covid. But there are no supply teachers available, so it doesn’t really matter anyway.
DrBlackbird · 14/12/2021 08:17

It really beggars belief that so few papers talk about the catastrophe of johnson's hard brexit (that no-one voted for and was not part of the referendum), the attack on the judiciary, on the electoral commission, on democracy through the crime and sentencing bill, an attack on free markets by handing out contracts to mates on inflated prices, and latterly the attack on the NHS and social care. But a Christmas party and a quiz and hey presto the news is everywhere. Hmm

Labour MP asks for time in the HoC to discuss the impact of Brexit.
Rees-Mogg's response:

DoctorTwo · 14/12/2021 10:25

Holy crap, the level of debate in the mother of parliaments. It's been dumbed down to below toddler level. What we have allowed to be done to us in the name of ideology. Fuxache.

Lonelycrab · 14/12/2021 10:38

JRM isn’t interested in the impacts of Brexit on others- for him it will likely be very profitable and that’s all that matters to him.

Peregrina · 14/12/2021 12:25

It was embarrassing to see Rees-Mogg making that statement. This is a supposedly intelligent man, but you could be forgiven for thinking he can't be. What a disgrace! But why do people vote for such an idiot?

DGRossetti · 14/12/2021 12:31

Chasing Invacare spares up, I've just spoken with the 4th person who has said they have no idea when the spares will be available.

As the castor starts to seize, it makes the wheelchair harder to steer. Quite aside from the safety issues (not that the disabled have any business leaving the house anyway) there's the extra stain it's putting on muscles already fatigued from the pernicious effects of MS.

Dignitas gift vouchers ? May well be an idea.

HannibalHayeski · 14/12/2021 13:36

And in No Shit Sherlock news today;

"Senior Conservative MPs warn that Brexit is destroying British agriculture."

There are no words...

Opal8 · 14/12/2021 13:54

It's almost like brexshitters didn't think it through....

I assume you've looked into ordering them to a friend or relative abroad, and then having them hand posted to you?

I've not ruled it out - and thanks to @Opal8 too.

However, living in Birmingham, there should be an engineering firm somewhere that can make a spring. The castor is a standard bearing if you know how to use a bearing puller.

Apparently.

Covid permitting, I'll be travelling to Edinburgh on Jan 30th. If the parts aren't too heavy, you could get them sent here and I could bring them in my luggage and post them to you from Scotland. It would be cheaper and simpler than p&p & customs from the EU now.
PM me if you want.

HannibalHayeski · 14/12/2021 18:33

I just don't know where to start with this...

"Liz Truss
@trussliz
The erosion of liberty in Hong Kong is an affront to freedom and democracy.

Flag of United Kingdom continues to make clear our opposition to the National Security Law & stands for right for people to live free from oppression. Read our six-monthly report on Hong Kong Flag of Hong Kong Down pointing backhand index"

Is it the hypocrisy? Or the stupidity? Where can satirists go from here?

DuncinToffee · 14/12/2021 19:19

Commons backs Covid passes by 369 votes to 126

Reports of 101 Tories voting against.

Opal8 · 14/12/2021 19:24

Blimey
More than reported even after going begging to the 1922 Committee?
If the tories lose the Shropshire by election on Thursday (unlikely) the knives will be out for De Pfeffle
