Westminstenders: What the winds bring

The next few weeks are crucial. Eu talks, covid handling, the US election and any other unexpected events (its nearly November, lets face it will probably be the weather).

It feels a little like the car crash in slow motion is about to hit the wall of reality. I guess that just means all there is left to do is to brace for impact.

DGR
add Kent to the description, or go to Ashford .... its there ... the web link is excellent too

DGRossetti · 28/10/2020 14:34

Ah, I've found it on the map.

but it really, really, really needs to pop up when "farage" is entered into Google. Which means overcoming whatever it is Google have put in place to stop it, as looking at the review activity, it should have tripped trending somewhere.

Whatever happened to 4chan ?

DGRossetti · 28/10/2020 14:39

Skimming a copy of the "Metro" today on the bus to hospital. I noticed ..

www.expressandstar.com/news/local-hubs/walsall/2020/10/28/families-could-afford-to-feed-children-even-if-they-shopped-at-ms-due-to-universal-credit-increase-council-leader-says/

Walsall Council leader Mike Bird said parents could buy "three meals for £7" and could feed a child on "relatively" small amounts of money amid a £20 Universal Credit increase.

Councillor Bird, who has previously said that families in Walsall suffer from food poverty because they have more children than they can afford, said there was no money left to fund free schools meals – and hit out at Labour for using it as a "political football".

His comments on BBC5 Live prompted backlash from people on social media who claimed the council leader was calling for poorer families to shop at M&S.

(contd)

Vote Tory. Get Tory. Which really should have been the Labour slogan forever. (and take it from me, I've had a Tory for a neighbour - never again).

re the Farage Garage - if you have a peek at

www.kentnews.online/farage-garage-becomes-a-place-on-google-maps/

There's a rather splendid aerial view outlined on the rise...

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 28/10/2020 14:56

Yes, still there, and the reviews will appeal to the connoisseurs on this thread.

ListeningQuietly · 28/10/2020 14:56

that is EXCELLENT

I wonder if poor Nige wants to blub to the press about the nasty bullies ?

I guess there's also scope for an out of work graphics designer, retraining as a cyber warrior to subtly redo the "Breaking point" poster with lorries rather than people, and in the other direction.

pointythings · 28/10/2020 15:08

Those reviews are cracking! Cheered up my afternoon no end.

That outlining reminds me of something...🤔🤔
DGRossetti · 28/10/2020 15:14

I wonder if we can find some stateside Trump supporters and tell them that "garage" is a UK term of massive respect, and that we are trying to get Donalds #1 UK supporter honoured in the UK despite all the liberal press suppressing it ?

notimagain · 28/10/2020 15:44

We'll see what Manu says this evening.

Looks like some hints have already been dropped.

We've just been out to our local SuperU and they are already in the process of putting new signs up reinforcing the 1 way system/flow and the maximum occupancy (much reduced)...

FrankieStein402 · 28/10/2020 16:56

bbc version of the soy sauce thing
I think this says:
In the EU there is no tariff on Japanese soy sauce
On WTO terms we have set a tariff of 6% so without Japan deal would be 6%
The trade deal with japan restores the status quo to 0% - so no difference to being in EU - ie DTI bullshitting.

but
58% of soy sauce in uk comes from china - so will have a tariff of 6% which is cheaper than the eu tariff of 7.7% - saving of ~5p on typical bottle
20% comes from Netherlands so without an EU deal will cost 6% more - 15p on typical bottle.

but - don't tariffs go to exchequer? So by setting tariff at 6% hmg is 'losing' ~5p on each bottle imported from China - presumably to the benefit of China - whats the emoticon for a laughing Xi?

Oh this has amused me. Its about the wonderful NRG letter...

www.warringtonguardian.co.uk/news/18828203.andy-carter-wont-confirm-signed-levelling-up-letter-warning-pm/
Andy Carter won’t confirm if he’s signed ‘levelling up’ letter warning PM

“I don’t think now is the time to get caught up in politics. said the Brexiteer Tory MP in a bellwether swing seat...

Yep thats right. A politician who apparently doesn't want to get caught up in politics.

Oh Andy Carter, what a complete and utter twat you are. I have it on good authority that he often complains to the Warrington Guardian about how mean about him on social media people are, is it really any wonder...

Ellie56 · 28/10/2020 19:33

A politician who doesn't want to get caught up in politics.? Hmm

I've heard it all now. What a tit.

HilaryThorpe · 28/10/2020 19:36

🇫🇷 Back into lockdown we go - looking forward to filling in a form to go shopping again (not).

AuldAlliance · 28/10/2020 19:57

Yay. Back to attestations, armed police checkpoints and not seeing another adult for days at a time.
Waiting to hear whether the weekly boarders will be able to board at DS1s lycée.
Can't see schools staying open long anyhow.
