Westminstenders: Prepare for what we said would never happen

I think that there may be a run on tinned tomatoes and pasta coming. Pizza will no longer have mozzarella in 2021.

On the plus side turnips are in season.

You'd never guess the fire had just been switched on Wink

There's no-one for me to say I told you so as I don't know any Leave voters. Grin

Actually, I tell a lie: I know one guy via dh who moved to England (Northumberland) but he seems to be going progressively madder at the world - especially BJ who he voted for. But that's about Covid (he's a "denier") not about his Leave vote Confused

I get to say i told you so to DH as soon as he gets off his work call.

Quite looking forward to that and the conversation we are about to have about how i want a chest freezer for Christmas.

@prettybird your cats are gorgeous!!

prettybird · 16/10/2020 13:04

Admission time Blush

We need to get the cats - two of them Shock - out of the freezer and bury them somewhere appropriate so that we can use it for additional storage ShockBlush

Peregrina · 16/10/2020 13:05

A depressed PMK.

prettybird · 16/10/2020 13:06

...1.5 and 3 years respectively Blush

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 16/10/2020 13:07

Depressing.

They can’t even organise a national health emergency. Looks promising for Brexit😭

DGRossetti · 16/10/2020 13:08

Peregrina · 16/10/2020 13:09

Two of my cats are buried in the garden. A third had to be PTS and was cremated, so we sent her off with a chorus of All things bright and beautiful and scattered her ashes by the fence which she used to guard against interlopers and stuck the plaque onto the fence.

We haven't yet got another cat....

pointythings · 16/10/2020 13:38

Well, this isn't at all depressing. Hmm

Copied from the Comments on this BBC story www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-54566897

The government have now started construction of their new theme park in Kent to promote their new gaming idea. The idea of the game is you hide your lorry among 7000 other lorries for 3 days and then see if you can find it again.
The game is called:
TRUCK AND TRACE
PS. Don't forget to bring your Kent passport or you won't be allowed to play.

ListeningQuietly · 16/10/2020 13:45

Prettybird
One of my cats rested in the freezer for several months before being laid to rest.
Another was in there for a week while we waited for his bit of garden to thaw.
The other two that are buried in the garden died in the summer so went under big rocks protection against foxes the day I brought their bodies back from the vet.

I had a sparrowhawk in the freezer a few years back.
My kids do not think I'm odd at all Grin

unmarkedbythat · 16/10/2020 13:48

If we all go outside and clap, that will help, right?

DGRossetti · 16/10/2020 13:50

I can guarantee here and now that the laws surrounding the operation of the Kent lorry park are going to require that drivers remain with their vehicles at all times .

I leave it to the student to contemplate the possible ramifications of such a policy.

quiteathome · 16/10/2020 13:51

I wonder what happened to the oven ready deal, maybe they got mixed up and put the deal in the freezer with all the dead pets.

Peregrina · 16/10/2020 13:52

It is difficult to sympathise with the Leavers of Kent - well indeed, why should we, they have got what they voted for.

RedToothBrush · 16/10/2020 13:52

Well if there are food shortages...

Thank you Red
@prettybird I have a few Leave voting friends and relatives, and there's no point in saying 'I told you so' to them because they are not politically engaged at all and think that it's all fiiine because Brexit happened and nothing has changed.

borntobequiet · 16/10/2020 13:58

I saw the speech on BBC News while at the gym, it blighted the session rather. I’ve never before seen a PM manage to look like a naughty lying child when addressing the nation. At least twice he glanced sideways for...approval? Who was he looking at? Cummings? Carrie? Gove?
I cheered myself up when I got home with a Belgian chocolate waffle, vanilla ice cream and salted caramel sauce. Sod healthy eating for today.
Anyway, thanks again for these threads.

SabrinaThwaite · 16/10/2020 13:59

I’m pretty sure the EU were proposing a Canada or South Korea style FTA years ago?

Westminstenders: Prepare for what we said would never happen
prettybird · 16/10/2020 14:00

Whenwillow - will you be able to say "I told you so" to them if they start complaining about Brexit created shortages in January?

Whenwillow · 16/10/2020 14:08

I probably will, prettybird
I'm really hoping I won't have to though.
