Well, ds1 has had his first predicted grade exam.
His timetable for this year is OK actually...he's pretty happy with it

squid4 · 01/09/2020 18:55

I know the conversation has moved on but I was pretty upset at clavinova's minimising and attempts to normalise NHS worker deaths. It has been extremely hard at work some days some people are in pieces. I know she is probably paid to write stuff, but I'm just going to take a bit of a break from this.
Thanks to the vast majority here who have been so supportive.

prettybird · 01/09/2020 19:01

That's exactly what he or she wants though Sad - to silence people's real life experiences by minimising them Angry

But you have to put your own mental health first squid4 Thanks - so here's a picture of my early autumn garden and some of the flowers I've already picked from it Smile

BCF, I don't know.
I had an awful flu thing in late Jan, but before anyone was aware of CV and testing. So either
a) That was CV, not flu /I had CV at another point, and the antibodies have all worn off since (which wasn't the pharmacist's analysis: he said 'you've apparently never been in contact with the virus')
or
b) I haven't had CV.

Not a very useful result, in a way... I wanted to assess risks before heading onto campus, and I was curious to see whether that flu thing could have been COVID, to know how the virus affected my organism.

I'm assuming that I haven't had it, as I have been v careful since well before lockdown, but that I may well get it once campus opens if we really do onsite teaching with 40 students/room.

Peregrina · 01/09/2020 19:21

Auld - interestingly enough, my DS, in the same part of France as you, reported that two people he worked with had a nasty virus back in January. One had been to China over Christmas. He suspects that Covid was circulating then.

AuldAlliance · 01/09/2020 19:22

Squid please ignore the tiny proportion of crap and focus on what else might help you on these threads.

ListeningQuietly · 01/09/2020 19:33

@squid4
You are real. Clav is surreal.
Look after yourself
but if you can, keep us posted with the reality from your part of this insanity Flowers

squid4 · 01/09/2020 19:42

Don't mean to make a scene!! I ignore most shit on the internet. Just was hit a bit hard by that the other day. Then I thought I wouoldn't say anything. Then I thought I should just mention that I found it hard and these are real people and I knew some of them. Now I feel like I'm being a dick.

Thank you, i'll be around at some point. Keep talking about all the clever sane stuff you do.

AuldAlliance · 01/09/2020 19:51

You didn't make a scene, squid, by any means.
But I'd be sorry to see you go because of those posters, when there are so many more valuable things to be read on here.

squid4 · 01/09/2020 19:53

Just a wee break.
Just felt I should say something.

Mistigri · 01/09/2020 20:25

It's vile and needs to be called out.

Look after yourself squid.

I am back to checking the French covid stats nightly now that my youngest is back in class. Too early to be sure but the trend in our region seems to be going back in the right direction (fall in number of cases and positivity in the last 2 days).

prettybird · 01/09/2020 20:31

We've just been semi-locked down again in Glasgow for a minimum of 2 weeks Sad No visiting inside other people's houses, even if you can socially distance inside (which you can easily in our house) Sad

I know the conversation has moved on but I was pretty upset at clavinova's minimising and attempts to normalise NHS worker deaths.

I am confident that I didn't minimise or normalise NHS worker deaths and you are gaslighting me.

Looking at some of YOUR posts;

"yes, there is a lot of clapping the "right" nurses and doctors, ie the silent or the dead ones, and the ones who point things out are called "left wing activists". will be the same for teachers, probably worse"

Goodness knows what you were thinking when you posted that.

ListeningQuietly · 01/09/2020 20:42

I saw that on the News.
Do not understand why its the whole city when the council will know where the real hotspots are

Peregrina · 01/09/2020 20:43

You don't like it do you Clavinova when you are pulled up on something?

Clavinova · 01/09/2020 20:46

You don't like it do you Clavinova when you are pulled up on something?

You were quite clearly gaslighting me.

borntobequiet · 01/09/2020 20:53

Squid you are being bullied by a consummate bully. It’s disgraceful. No normal person would address you like that. Ignore.

ListeningQuietly · 01/09/2020 20:54

I've just read the new guidance on customs clearance for Northern Ireland
what a shit show
and discriminatory against English Welsh and Scottish businesses
www.gov.uk/government/publications/moving-goods-under-the-northern-ireland-protocol

ListeningQuietly · 01/09/2020 20:57

I also wonder how many of the Kent MPs have read and understood this little cookie

I thought you were bullying me - I tried to leave this conversion on Saturday.

Those of us who haven't glugged the Brexit Kool-Aid know exactly what Squid4 was thinking - that it was time for some hard truths about what was really happening to people. Only delusional Brexiteers would consider that bullying or gaslighting.

I've seen the kind of behaviour Squid4 described in that post with my own eyes, in our very Brexity town's FB group. The moment you say anything critical, you're called a traitor, accused of talking the UK down and not beLeaving. Pointing out that it isn't all going to be fiiiine is considered bullying now.

ListeningQuietly · 01/09/2020 21:13

Stop bickering folks.

Have some fun clicking the links on this page - its a cracker

prettybird · 01/09/2020 21:16

LQ - as I understand it, the problem
Is that they're not clear where the hotspots started (unlike in Aberdeen) but that the common factor seems to be gatherings inside homes.

I'm actually surprised that they haven't included East Dunbartonshire, as, like East Renfrewshire, it is contiguous with Glasgow City and essentially forms the Glasgow conurbation (living off the city's amenities without paying its council tax Hmm).

prettybird · 01/09/2020 21:18

I'm ignoring the non-constructive posts. It saves time not reading his/her posts Grin
