Westminsterenders: Talent or Colour

FishesaPlenty · 06/12/2019 16:49

RTB and BCF are presumably busy with more important things. I'm clearly not qualified to start a Westminsterenders thread - but somebody has to take control and collect the waifs and strays.

The party of no talent want to introduce no colour into our lives.

6 days to the election.

Johnson is still a liar.

Corbyn is still apparently loved by Labour members and hated by everyone else.

Swinson is still a charming PTA chair.

I’d originally considered a drinking game (not exactly a game as I’d be the only one taking part due to booze and Parkinson’s not mixing well) - knock back a drink for each Tory loss - but now I’m worried it won’t provide me with enough alcohol to numb the pain Sad

prettybird · 08/12/2019 23:21

A friend, dh and I stayed up all night in 2015 and had a drinking game with different tariffs for all the big Scottish Labour scalps ...... WinkWineGrin [hic]WineWink

TiddleTaddleTat · 08/12/2019 23:23

Blanket and dozing
Gin and tonic ... wine
Will definitely need a series of snacks to soak it all up

If it's a conservative majority it's going to feel that much worse with a hangover through!

TiddleTaddleTat · 08/12/2019 23:23

Re televised Vox pox (whether they be full programmes or wee segments in the news): I've become increasingly cynical about them and think they are a total waste of airtime as unless you see them doing the "approaches" and interviews in real time, the viewer has no way of telling how many people were approached until they got respondents who answered in a way that the editor thought was "suitable"/fitted the narrative that they wanted to portray HmmConfused

Peregrina · 08/12/2019 23:40

Time and time again we see older people being interviewed who tell us they are going to vote Tory. When does the BBC bother to interview young people?

Local Canvassers reporting that people can't stand Boris Johnson, even in streets they have marked down as always voting Tory.

BigChocFrenzy · 08/12/2019 23:41

12 Dec is our Christmas works do which I'm organising !
It was voted the most popular day on Doodle, so I had to go with it - democracy again

I'll check the 10pm exit poll, then I'm up at 6 am UK time normally anyway .... I'll check Westministenders for the news

If it's a Tory majority, please post lots of cat & dog pics to soothe us all

Lucygoeswalkies · 08/12/2019 23:49

Despite my best intentions, I’ve never yet managed to make it past two in the morning for elections (or anything else for that matter). This time I think adrenaline might be high enough to get me through the night (awake that is). I just hope the exit polls aren’t too depressing

prettybird · 08/12/2019 23:49

I'm building up a collection of new photos in preparation BigChoc Wink

In EU elections, polls overstated the Tory/BP vote by about 3%, and understated Labour/LD/Green by a similar amount. At the time it wasn’t really a story as it didn’t impact on the narrative, but a similar discrepancy this time could be very significant indeed!

boatyardblues · 09/12/2019 00:05

Are we allowed to source other baby animals from the web?

CendrillonSings · 09/12/2019 00:11

OMG Xmas Shock

Britain Elects

As nothing really happens for the first couple of hours, I'm contemplating going to bed once the exit polls have been released and getting up about 2ish and watch the rest come in. Got to get my children to school in the morning but that's it so can come home and cry/celebrate*

Thanks, pretty A regal collection would be soothing

boatyardblues · 09/12/2019 00:18

That Survation poll doesn’t ring true.

CendrillonSings · 09/12/2019 00:30

This time before the 2017 election Survation was showing a Tory lead of 1%. Actual result was 2%

Just saying Smile

I won't be staying up as I'm presenting to clients on Thursday and Friday and I need every second of sleep I can get. I might even avoid the exit poll, for the sake of my blood pressure and sleep. I'm eating out with my Japanese colleague on Thursday and I expect we will steer clear of British politics. He politely thinks we've all gone bonkers Grin

CrunchyCarrot · 09/12/2019 05:58

I'll stay up unless I get to the point where a Tory landslide looks like it's happening (please God, no). Then I'd go to bed, hugely depressed.

Best election night ever was the 1997 Labour win, I was in a student house and we all sat up and were very excitable, lol!

DoctorTwo · 09/12/2019 06:39

Time and time again we see older people being interviewed who tell us they are going to vote Tory. When does the BBC bother to interview young people?

The Biased Brexit Corporation's news division has long been headed by Tories therefore those on the ground (especially Kuenssberg) know which side their butter's breaded. They have to trumpet Boris good, Jeremy bad.

WeshMaGueule · 09/12/2019 06:40

Meanwhile in Finland... five mostly young centre-left women in coalition... one can but dream... www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-50709422

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 09/12/2019 06:42

I'll be at the local count so I'll be up all night regardless of what happens. May get an hours snooze on the sofa before the dc wake up on Friday.

bellinisurge · 09/12/2019 07:01

I'll be in bed with the radio accessible if I feel the need to dip in. I watched Portillo get dumped. That was enough magical politics for a lifetime.
I'm assuming none of the twats in either of the big parties or any of the little ones will actually go to hell in a handcart despite my wishing it to be so.

ClashCityRocker · 09/12/2019 07:13

I'll be watching on the basis that I didn't on the night of the referendum then couldn't sleep anyway.

MaxNormal · 09/12/2019 07:15

Every time I go to bed something terrible happens - Tories, Brexit, Trump.
I might need to stay up for this one.
