All the best Dusty.

Cannot believe you stuck JC's spaghetti squash on Johnny Castle's head. Enough to send Nippy scuttling back to her corner. Grin

I've already made my mind up so am easily diverted to ornithology, musicals and all sorts.

BelleHathor · 11/11/2019 12:16

Ooh leave alliance! Nigel Farage has just stated Brexit Party will not contest any of the 317 seats the conservatives won. For fear of letting in a remain alliance parliament. Nigel said he has fought too hard over the last 25 years to potentially lose Brexit. Very sensible 😊🌹🚩

Walkingdeadfangirl · 11/11/2019 12:26

Very good news for Boris. Well done Farage, you have done the right thing.

Epicwaffle · 11/11/2019 12:27

Just popping back to celebrate this News Belle! A significant development!

Thank god for that! Onwards fine comrades!
🌹🥇✊🤞🏻🗳

Let’s just hope for that much needed majority!!!! 😬

Epicwaffle · 11/11/2019 12:29

Hopefully he will also consider the specific remaining seats carefully too. They are not homogeneous, and may be marginal.

bellinisurge · 11/11/2019 12:31

So if he's only pulling out of safe Tory seats that means he's still happy to split the vote in my Labour Leave constituency and give the sitting Labour MP a better chance of winning.

Epicwaffle · 11/11/2019 12:31

Either way, he has shelved his ego ( a bit) engaged his brain and stepped back to a more pragmatic position. He isn’t going to drop the whole lot overnight, I suspect there will be a further drip feed of bxp candidates stood down strategically in labour tory marginals over the coming weeks. Fingers crossed anyway.

Epicwaffle · 11/11/2019 12:33

Cross post there bellini, as above I suspect a rethink on specific seats such as yours coming up. Could be wrong though.

Epicwaffle · 11/11/2019 12:34

He is never going to retreat all at once is he? After all the hubris! Good poker though. Although he may not be bluffing!

bellinisurge · 11/11/2019 12:35

Tories have little chance in my constituency but the Brexit Party stand a chance if the Tory opposition falls away. It won't.

Wimbledonna · 11/11/2019 12:48

Thanks for the link to the Jolyon /Gina spat, Epic. Loved this tweet:
couldnae agree on the colour of shite!

SingingLily · 11/11/2019 12:49

Great news, Belle! Thank you.

Wimbledonna · 11/11/2019 12:51

Good news from Nigel. I thought he would wait until the eleventh hour but I think this way is better and more honest. And less of a waste of money!

howabout · 11/11/2019 12:56

Also loving the Joylon / Gina spat.

Suspect he thinks he is showing Joanna et al how to approach the Scottish Courts. He doesn't seem to realise him and his crowdfunders are just massive cash cows for the real players. Grin

In similar vein Wimbledonna top Operation Ouch joke last week - why did the baker have brown hands? because he kneaded a pooh.

howabout · 11/11/2019 13:01

Clever tactics from Nige. In seats like bellini's the Bxt Party can't stand aside in favour of the Tories yet. I agree about expecting them to do so strategically later.

Wimbledonna · 11/11/2019 13:04

Haha.
Will the BP now go all out to win the Labour Leave seats like Workington? It's getting interesting.

SingingLily · 11/11/2019 13:06

We'll know by this Thursday exactly what the BXP slate looks like nationally. Once they've submitted their candidate nomination papers and paid the deposit, that's it; they're on the ballot paper. Even if they subsequently decide to withdraw their candidacies, it's too late. They're still on the ballot paper and could still split the vote.

After that, the postal votes will start to go out.

Still great news though!

loubeylou68smellsofreindeerpoo · 11/11/2019 13:06

I'm still not sure who to vote for but pissed off at Farage thinking he can dictate the way we vote (not voting Tory anyway as our local Tory mp is a knob)

SingingLily · 11/11/2019 13:40

Just a thought 🤔

@DustyDiamond leaves home to start her new job at 8.30 this morning. She never said a word about what she would be doing though.

Three and a half hours later, Nige makes a shock announcement.

#ClassicDusty? 🤣

Epicwaffle · 11/11/2019 13:50

#classicdusty

She must have had a word in his ear! Grin

BelleHathor · 11/11/2019 13:56

#Classicdusty 🤣 no one knows the power of mumsnet, First bellini convinces them to put the Irish border in the sea now this! 😉

time4chocolate · 11/11/2019 13:57

Looks like Emily Thornberry is doing the media rounds for Labour today. Maybe she should have called I'm sick as she has been almost as bad as her Question time appearance 😮😉
m.youtube.com/watch?v=-2iDhnJT7s4
"Emily Thornberry has had a nightmare of a morning. To be fair to her she has spent most of it trying to defend the indefensible. On GMB the Shadow Foreign Secretary blamed her confusing statement that she hopes Leave would win a second referendum on it being “quarter to seven in the morning”. Not that Labour’s policy is confusing at any time of the day; negotiate the best deal to leave possible, then campaign to remain…

On Radio 4 Today things got even worse for Thornberry as she was asked to name a single time Corbyn has backed the use of British armed forces. She couldn’t name a single instance, because there isn’t one. Corbyn has even written against Britain’s use of military force in the Second World War…"

MeganBacon · 11/11/2019 14:06

Very predictable move from NF. It looked very much like Boris had already reclaimed a lot of the Tory switchers and nf’s purpose was to keep labour weak (as if Corbyn needed any help with that). Now the chances are he can decimate the labour vote and thereby through sheer numbers exert some sway in parliament. He will have figured out that this is how he achieves maximum influence.

BelleHathor · 11/11/2019 14:12

Not wishing to give us a boring morning apparently in Hartlepool the Conservatives haven’t yet announced their candidate to fight Richard Tice of the Brexit party. But the lead contender, Ralph Ward-Jackson, has just withdrawn his name following Nigel Farage’s announcement, saying he doesn’t want to split the Leave vote. 😮😮
