I wonder how many people will vote for an MP based purely on Brexit ? Is it a single issue GE do you think Dusty ? It feels a bit like that to me, people trying to figure out who to vote for to get their preferred outcome with regards to Brexit.

Limer · 10/11/2019 19:48

Evening folks, I'll have a Wine please. Final Remembrance Sunday toast to everyone, cheers.

Hate I'm planning on staying up on GE night, certainly until a result is near enough definite. You're spot on saying Remain is eating itself, it looks as if after 3+ years of a smear campaign that just consisted of calling Leavers old, white, thick, racist, uneducated gammon, they've finally realised that Leave will be happening.

frumpety deciding what to have for tea is a far harder decision than who to vote for!

DustyDiamond · 10/11/2019 19:50

It is for me, yes

Can't speak for others obvs

The Tories have my vote this time, but not my loyalty by any stretch

Evening all.

Parker231 · 10/11/2019 19:54

Why do you think Remain are eating itself? Everyone I know in RL are Remain voters and feel more strongly not less.

DustyDiamond · 10/11/2019 19:55

Remembrance toast to all 🍷

I'm glad we still do it every year & hope it continues far into the future

It's a time to put aside all superficial differences & arguments & come together

To remember that war is shit & to appreciate what we have & those who died to give us it

We're so fortunate to be able to be squabbling over democratic decisions & differences without violent repercussions - would be a horrible thing to not have the luxury of freedom to disagree

Democracy & peace is a wonderful thing & very precious

Parker231 You don't know any Leave voters? Are you sure your friends aren't lying to you?

Epicwaffle · 10/11/2019 20:03

Thanks guys! You are all lovely! WineCake

Parker231 · 10/11/2019 20:10

No - the majority of our friends have a lot to loose through leaving the EU. Our friends are a mixture of nationalities and backgrounds working in different organisations many which are affected by Brexit.

Epicwaffle · 10/11/2019 20:21

My DD and friends first time vote. All I will say, is I think the perception of young voters and the automatic labour vote may not be such a given if what I have been hearing is anything to go by.

I have left DD to it, her vote, her choice, her future. She has done her own research and critical thinking as I have suggested she do, and to in no way be influenced either by our personal views (which I generally don’t impress on my kids, because it’s not for me to influence her), or those of her lecturers, student union, social media etc...

She has asked for my opinion and I have given her both sides of the arguments, and repeatedly reiterated as above, that my views and my ‘side’, are mine only and should not be hers by default. something my parents also impressed upon me.

frumpety · 10/11/2019 20:27

My parents voted leave , we are deeply disappointed in each other Wink

Limer · 10/11/2019 20:27

So you live in a bubble, or an ivory tower, Parker

Epicwaffle · 10/11/2019 20:30

“My parents voted leave , we are deeply disappointed in each other wink”

That’s a shame if true (unless tongue in cheek of course!)

No families should be divided over 2 very different but perfectly reasonable voting positions imo. Sad

Parker231 · 10/11/2019 20:31

Limer - we live in the real world and are scared about the future. I’m already seeing the impact as two of my clients are pulling out from the UK . All UK based employees will be made redundant.

frumpety · 10/11/2019 20:35

Epic we still love each other , plus over the years, I have done far more disappointing things than voting a different way to them Wink

Epicwaffle · 10/11/2019 20:37

Phew! That’s ok then! Grin Lol, you hear of such awful splits though! Shock

ContinuityError · 10/11/2019 20:53

For anyone that dislikes crows / magpies / rooks, can I recommend the book “Corvus: A Life With Birds” by Esther

You will be converted.

ContinuityError · 10/11/2019 20:55

Esther Woolfson

frumpety · 10/11/2019 20:56

Bloody love the rooks ContinuityError , they are the sound of home to me Smile
