Brexit

To be so let down and furious with the Lib Dems

I now don’t feel I have anyone I can vote for - they have shown they are every bit as extreme as the Brexit Party in their own way, and are no more than a grandiose pressure group rather than a party serious about governing.

Advocating revoking without a referendum, was not only entirely unnecessary, but shows they aren’t just EU supporters but rather EU obsessives, putting our membership above all else, even basic democratic principles.

In the highly unlikely event they do form a majority Government, it would be with a circa 35% vote share... How that trumps the Referendum’s 52% and still be democratic I don’t know.

Rant over...

Ratata Yeah. Cryptic.

Antigonads · 16/09/2019 19:39

And Remainers are all free thinking intellectuals

🙄

darkcloudsandsunnyskies · 16/09/2019 19:44

The trouble with remainers is that they have all been brainwashed by endless EU directives and can no longer think for themselves which is why they must have more government.

Also they are the only people who read the mail and express judging by the fact that these papers seem to be their go to data source.

Most of us leavers actually in fact specifically got our information from the side of buses.

Buses do not lie.

lljkk · 16/09/2019 19:45

why [did] a majority of voters ticked the Leave box.

I get the impression whole PhDs are being written on that topic.

If the Lib Dems did win a majority in a General Election, what would they do about all those ignored Leavers?

Draw big thick red lines & completely ignore their concerns? It's what May did to 16.x million who voted Remain, after all. Good for the goose & gander, all that.

Antigonads · 16/09/2019 19:49

Last time I checked we haven’t left so Remainers are hardly being ignored.

lljkk · 16/09/2019 20:35

yeah... I'm winning! Coz we didn't leave EU yet. I'm so relieved because I really didn't want to lose

EHIC
shorter Qs to get into EU
no data roaming charges when in EU countries
Chance for my nearest city to be a European capital of culture
cheap postage to & from EU27 countries
safety & security of being part of a magnified trading bloc
news stories about lots of things besides trade deals & EU politics (oops, where are those stories now?)
European colleagues (oops, already lost some of those)
funding streams (oops, we already lost those)
Belief that it was ok for me as an expert & immigrant to be in UK (oops, pretty much lost that one, too)

Remind me how I'm winning & not being ignored?

pumkinspicetime · 16/09/2019 20:49

I’ve yet to see any Remainers addressing the issue of why a majority of voters ticked the Leave box.

There are many articles out there discussing this.

Austerity, a desire to kick the establishment, resentment at generational lack of funding in some areas, a concern that an established way of life was under threat, a sense of nostalgia for the past, a belief in English imperialism, some wished for a less rule bound society and any number of other individual issues.

These are issues that are still going to be here after we have left the EU for the most part with additional issues which will need managed as well.

Yabu. It was an advisory referendum, and nothing but a binfire ever since. Knocking it on the head would be the best option.

That's without even starting on the illegality and immorality of campaign tactics on the leave side.

Antigonads · 16/09/2019 21:26

🤔

I wonder what Paddy Ashdown would have thought about this?
