Is Mummy just making up random statistic now?

Parker231 · 12/09/2019 13:41

Might be difficult as Boris still hasn’t presented proposals to the EU and the EU have stated again that the WA isn’t up for renegotiation.

bellinisurge · 12/09/2019 13:57

Pretty sure 119% of people are saying WTAF? . That kind of statisticGrin

jasjas1973 · 12/09/2019 13:59

If BJ wont do a NI only deal and the EU will not remove the backstop, then BJ will need to request an extension.

EU is indicating it will agree to any ask.

So, ND is looking unlikely.

I think he will ask for an extension but will state its for a GE and that this was the only way to get one, i don't he will resign, he loves the power too much, though the SC ruling might change things?

howabout · 12/09/2019 14:26

jasjas I don't follow your logic at all. Boris cannot ask the EU for an extension as a response to them refusing to negotiate. Why? It would land him in the same negotiating stance as Theresa May. Didn't work for her with the EU and certainly won't wash with his electorate. He has already lost his majority so what power would he be giving up by resigning and forcing others to call a GE?

bellinisurge · 12/09/2019 14:35

They aren't "refusing to negotiate " though. The protection of GFA is a redline and the backstop is the only option for doing it. If the UK magics up another solution that achieves the same result, they will look at it.
That isn't "refusing to negotiate ".

jasjas1973 · 12/09/2019 14:43

Johnson has to ask for an extension or resign, i don't see anything in his behavior so far that indicates he will do the honourable thing and step down.

May had no power but it didn't stop her clinging to office did it?

Also, the Tories surely cannot have yet another leadership election, who is there left?
though if the SC rule against him, they may well have too.

howabout · 12/09/2019 14:52

He will resign as PM but NOT as Leader of the Tory Party.

time4chocolate · 12/09/2019 14:55

Also, the Tories surely cannot have yet another leadership election, who is there left?

There wouldn’t need to be another leadership election, he could stand down as PM but remain party leader. Corbyn (or whoever) would then have to go to the EU and ask for an extension for a GE. Boris has insisted he won’t ask for an extension.

Parker231 · 12/09/2019 15:11

EU are saying today that if there is no deal the blame will lie with the UK. The EU are willingly to look at proposals but nothing has been presented to them for discussion amongst the EU members.

Random18 · 12/09/2019 15:13

Mummmy sadly it doesn't make for good headlines.

Have you looked at today's headlines from the Telegraph, Daily Mail, Express and Times.

Yesterday was a momentous day. 'Yellowhammer' documents published, scottish courts finding proroguation illegal and BJ lied to queen.

Never in my lifetime have we had a news day like it. I don't think even the most extreme fantasist could have dreamed up what's happening in the UK a few years ago

But please just go and look st the headlines and see if they are reflective of yesterdays news day!

Voila212 · 12/09/2019 15:40

Dr David Nicholls is on sky news and has said some patients will die and some patients will be at risk of not getting their medication. He said there is no such a thing as no harm no deal Brexit.

howabout · 12/09/2019 15:42

Random it has been a very very long time since newspaper headlines reflected anything other than editorial bias. The concept that anyone still believes they reflect the "News day" beggars belief. Most of the time they don't even reflect the content of the underlying article. Sad

I think this is a terrible state of affairs btw but it is what it is. It is little wonder that no-one believes a word of journalistic hubris on Brexit or anything else.

Classic example of the genre. BBC website deems it top Headline news story that Boris denies lying to Queen. As I posted earlier Lord Hope stated on the BBC Scotland flagship news programme last night that it is irrelevant and unknowable whether or not Boris lied.

BBC thinks it is a mere subsidiary story that the Northern Irish courts do not think No Deal Brexit necessarily affects the GFA and that the case brought was politically rather than legally motivated.

I take a different view on which is the more important and current story of the day.

Also much as I could watch and listen to Kwasi all day long I see no reason to pick over the minutiae of how he phrased concern about attempts to politicise the judiciary. The English and the Northern Irish Courts have in fact opined to that effect. Surely he was merely stating the blindingly obvious?

That being the case perhaps the better headline would be questioning why the Scottish Courts take a different view. However that should be the Headline when their detailed judgement is actually published. Atm it is all just hot air and speculation.

howabout · 12/09/2019 16:06

Dare you to say (d) and leave it at that Mummy Brew

Parker231 · 12/09/2019 16:21

Apparently Yellowhammer is the best case scenario but Project Black Swan is the worse case but is being kept confidential. Not surprising in that case that Government didn’t resist releasing Yellowhammer.

jasjas1973 · 12/09/2019 16:39

He will resign as PM but NOT as Leader of the Tory Party

Nothing in his previous behavior indicates he'll resign, didn't he also say he wouldn't do that?
He makes it up as he goes along.... dead in a ditch and lie down in front of bulldozers but stayed out of the country when the vote came!

Why leavers have placed sooooooo much faith in this former europhile is beyond me.

mummmy2017 · 12/09/2019 16:58

Yellowhammer is a worse case not this going to 100% happen.
So none of the above.
Oh and d....sod the lot of you.

AuldAlliance · 12/09/2019 16:59

Mummy: worse than what?

DorisDaysDadsDogsDead · 12/09/2019 17:18

"Yellowhammer is a worse case"

You really do have problems with basic comprehension, don't you...

mummmy2017 · 12/09/2019 17:21

Lol, so you don't expect the Govenment to do anything at all and Yellowhammer is set in stone.
Try being a realist, it's not hard.

Notonthestairs · 12/09/2019 17:21

Don't you mean "d sod the lot of us" - your family won't be magically protected (unless you are wealthy - are you?)

Oranginna · 12/09/2019 17:31

Why leavers have placed sooooooo much faith in this former europhile is beyond me.
What choice do we have? Grin Hope springs eternal.

Septembersunrays · 12/09/2019 17:31

Surely the posting here is trolling mummy or bullying... So many posters constantly degenerating her....
