I have some horse meat in my freezer when DH accidentally bought it. I’m sure it is lovely!

Are horse meat when in Kazakhstan. Tasted okay.

Horse meat is quite tasty :) you can't rid the world of criminality but you can have checks to limit and find out about things like incorrectly labelled food.
It was EU checks that discovered horse meat in pre packed food, not our regulators, who are so reduced in number to make them pointless.

Chlorinated chicken isn't about the chemical but about welfare standards that are so lax the only way to make the meat safe is to wash it and even that doesn't appear to work.

Arf at the eu food standards.

Chlorinated chicken into the Ireland and tons of pies etc packed with cheap horse meat from dodgy factories in Lithuania!

Purlease!

@SonEtLumiere enough of those crazy facts and realities of Brexit, they have run away to another virtual pub where they presumably won't be "disproportionately affected " by likely price rises and limited food availability.

EU requires a border between eu and third countries. So if Ireland wants to prevent food products that don’t comply with EU standards a border has to be installed.

If EU relaxes their border regulations in Ireland, they then have to do the same in Eastern Europe to maintain consistency.

WTO doesn't require a border but if you relax controls in Ireland then you have to relax controls with every other country you trade with

Guess you better raise a dispute with the WTO and we will find out in several years never. I am not so sure your expert opinion is correct.

Leavers will be held responsible for deaths in their families and communities in the same way that collaborators are after any war.

For fucks sake.
Stop with the hyperbole πŸ™„

Wto doesn't require a border but if you relax controls in Ireland then you have to relax controls with every other country you trade with. So the same conditions given to Ireland has to given to China and India. Also can the UK guarantee the products that come into Ireland will continue to be of EU standards? That there won't chlorinated chicken or hormone injected beef. How can you have a few checks at every factory, several times a day, every day?

Haha SonEt do you want leavers heads to explode.

Report

Bearbehind "the WTO requires a border, or at least some way of enforcing checks".

The WTO does NOT require a hard border. A few checks at departure or their destination is NOT a hard border and does not have to be on the border.
Rabid remainers seem to want to build a wall.

So no border in Ireland and no border in the Irish sea. So what's the plan?
