Page 36 here - again talking about a smooth orderly Brexit.

May obviously thought her deal was better than no deal?

Even the guardian has reported, surprise economic growth today.

Good news, especially agaisnt this crisis back drop.

MysteryTripAgain · 09/09/2019 16:33

May obviously thought her deal was better than no deal

She thought wrong and seemed to forget that as per UK law any WA had to be passed by parliament

MysteryTripAgain · 09/09/2019 16:34

Even the guardian has reported, surprise economic growth today

Don't tell that to the remain supporters

ContinuityError · 09/09/2019 16:35

She thought wrong

In your opinion.

MysteryTripAgain · 09/09/2019 16:37

In your opinion

Not my opinion, but that of MPs who voted against T May's deal three times.

bellinisurge · 09/09/2019 17:03

Growth is good.
Egg on my face if No Deal happens and goes brilliantly is good.
Why would I think otherwise?

Parker231 · 09/09/2019 17:04

Mystery - the Β£ picked up when a no deal was stopped.

time4chocolate · 09/09/2019 17:12

Mystery - the Β£ picked up when a no deal was stopped

Or was it just a big sigh of relief that there wasn’t going to be an immediate GE with possibility of a JC government - difficult to say really, seeing both happened on the same day.

Septembersunrays · 09/09/2019 17:18

Great news, bercow is finally stepping down.
He has just nearly self combusted at mp!!

MysteryTripAgain · 09/09/2019 17:18

Mystery - the Β£ picked up when a no deal was stopped

Which hurts exports and encourages imports and increases trade deficit.

Septembersunrays · 09/09/2019 17:20

Jeremys voice has egde to it (I'm watching sky news), he's back in righteous indignation mode... Loving it! Something to get his teeth into

time4chocolate · 09/09/2019 17:27

Just popped Parliament TV on - Dominic's not holding back Grin

jasjas1973 · 09/09/2019 17:34

Which hurts exports and encourages imports and increases trade deficit

No importer or exporter for that matter makes decisions on dailyFX swings, in fact despite an approx 20% drop in sterling (against a basket of currencies) since 2016, exports have no picked up at all.

We don't make much, therefore we have to import everything from bicycles to phones to PCs to cars and buses, not to mention food and med's

MysteryTripAgain · 09/09/2019 17:40

@Jagass1973

So where did the growth come from?

Cittadina · 09/09/2019 17:58

Kier's speaking now. He is also not holding back.

howabout · 09/09/2019 18:01

I wonder how Sir Keir feels about his fan club incessantly spelling his name wrong. Then again I'm not so sure how the original Keir would feel about him at all.

howabout · 09/09/2019 18:23

I am not the only one who thinks the Benn Bill oversteps. This article was written even before the Bill was passed on the back of a confidence whip from the Government against it. It also does not consider the change in Parliamentary arithmetic following the multiple withdrawals of the whip.

blogs.lse.ac.uk/brexit/2019/09/02/proponents-of-the-new-bill-to-stop-no-deal-face-a-significant-dilemma-over-queens-consent/

I assume this is the source of the speculative Telegraph article - haven't read it in detail.

ContinuityError · 09/09/2019 18:48

Bercow ruled that the Benn Burt Bill did not require Queen’s consent. That article predates the ruling.

jasjas1973 · 09/09/2019 19:10

So where did the growth come from?

What growth? over the last Q it has stagnated. But once again, without services, we'd be in recession, so the collapse in the Β£ has made no difference to manufactured exports, as anyone knows (well, almost everyone lol)

You need to keep up.

Septembersunrays · 09/09/2019 19:49

Watching live now, why empty seats on one side?

Parker231 · 09/09/2019 19:53

Where’s Boris? He voted in the earlier motion but now not attending the current debate. No law officers from the Government are present.

Septembersunrays · 09/09/2019 19:55

Very sparse...

BunchMunch · 09/09/2019 19:55

Isn't Germany in recession too? Possibly part of a global downturn?

Songsofexperience · 09/09/2019 19:58

So your reaction when a hurricane is brewing is to take to the sea rather than seek shelter?

Leaving the EU now us exactly what we're doing. And our boat is leaky.
